Raelyn had successfully set up Lucian tonight, as she was assisted by William, Archer, and Natalie.
If it weren’t for the sake of the plan, Natalie would never be alone with Raelyn willingly. William, on the other hand, had wanted to grasp Lucian’s intention towards Natalie.
Based on his observations and events from the past few days, Lucian did not pose a threat towards Natalie but was extremely concerned about Natalie’s safety and wellbeing instead. That was strange!
William pondered for a moment, then looked at Michael and said, “Show Michael the video and see if he discovers anything.”
At this, Bobby showed the video to Michael, who frowned after watching it, “Lucian’s reaction is very strange indeed. Any chance that she is homosexual?”
William froze and asked, “What do you mean?”
“It’s similar to a case I’ve worked on before. The victim was a lesbian and had the same reaction as Lucian when she was harassed by a man. However, I may be wrong as Lucian might just be disgusted with the fact that some random man harassed her.”
William frowned and wanted to say something but was cut off by a phone call. His brows furrowed as he picked up, and Hayden’s furious voice could be heard from the other end, “William, are you really that heartless? Do you really intend to cut things off between us?”
William stood up and lied through his teeth, “I have left the party and am currently on my way back. Why are you in such a hurry?”
“You b*stard, stop lying! Do you think that I have no idea what you’re doing?” Hayden cursed as he was bursting with anger, “How dare you lie to me?! You’re still at the party, aren’t you?”
“Alright, alright. Calm down. It’s bad for your health. I’ve already sent someone to look for her. I can’t do anything if something does happen to her anyway. I’m not God himself.”
“How dare you? Don’t you know that blood is thicker than water? I thought you are the kindest amongst all my children, but you are literally the most ruthless one! I have misapprehended you.”
A cold smile emerged across William’s lips as he replied, “I’ll be right back. Bye!”
As soon as William hung up, Michael burst into laughter, which made William glared at him as he made another call, “Wake her up and get her ready as the police will arrive soon. You know what you need to do, right?”
“Yes, I got it covered,” Ronald answered from the other end.
After that, William sighed and threw his phone playfully in the air before catching it again as he said, “I’m tired of watching these endless dramas.”
Michael rolled his eyes at him and said, “How could you be so impatient when you’re the one who’s setting everybody up?”
“What do you mean? I did not get my hands dirty at all. What does it have to do with me?” William replied as he picked up his blazer and informed Bobby, “Send someone over to inform Charles, George, and Philip, and tell them to head over to Ronald’s apartment. Let’s make our way there as well.”
Meanwhile, Ronald went back to his bedroom after ending the call with William and sneered as he looked at Savannah, who was still dead asleep.
Then, he dragged Savannah’s limp body into the bathroom.
Inside, he had filled the bathtub with cold water beforehand, where large ice cubes could be seen floating around in the tub.
Ronald stripped off Savannah’s clothes swiftly and threw her into the ice-cold water.
Savannah, who had been unconscious for quite some time, suddenly felt a chill down her spine as her body hit the freezing water.
She wrapped herself into a ball and was trembling in the bathtub as the drug gradually subsided. Not long after, she was finally able to open her eyes.
Ronald stood by the bathtub with his arms crossed and stared at Savannah, who had not fully regained her consciousness yet. She was looking back at Ronald in confusion.
“I’m freezing!”
“You’re cold? Let me warm you up.” As she was awake now, Ronald reached out and helped her out of the bathtub. Savannah stumbled out of the bathroom and went into the bedroom with Ronald’s help. The heater was on and she was drenched in sweat after some time.
Savannah let out a sneeze due to the sudden change of temperature as Ronald handed her a glass of water and said, “Have some water.”
Savannah drank the water without hesitation as her throat was dry and uncomfortable.
Savannah had regained most of her consciousness after she had the glass of water, so she asked Ronald subconsciously, “What time is it now?”
Ronald gave a forceful smile as he informed Savannah of the time. She was stunned for a moment as she slowly recalled her initial plan of taking her own life.
Her expression changed in an instant as realization dawned, “You… Why…”
“Why wasn’t I unconscious?” Ronald continued, “I knew that you intended to drug me, so I swapped the medication. You took it instead of me.”
“How did you know?” Savannah asked in a cracked voice.
“You finally had a taste of your own medicine. How could I not be on my toes? You’re a ruthless woman who even plans to kill your own father!” Ronald sat down with a smile.
“The video of you attempting suicide has been sent to your father, and he’s looking for you everywhere now. What are you going to do? Have you come up with a good excuse?”
“I… I’m begging you. Please, help me! I’ll do anything for you!” Savannah knew that she had messed up, so she had to convince Ronald to help her in clearing this mess.
“How?” Ronald asked.
“Help me make it look like I really took my life to convince my father. I’ll give you anything you want.”
“That depends on what you can give me. Would you agree too, even if I said I wanted you to marry me?” Ronald asked calmly.
“You have my word as long as you help me out!”
“Well, what should I do to help you?”
“Send me to the hospital and say that I am in a coma after attempting suicide. Then, call my dad and tell him to make his way to the hospital.”
“That’s it? That’s a bit too easy, isn’t it?”
“It is not. You have to convince my father that I really do intend to take my own life. My father is a cunning man and he isn’t easily fooled. You have to put on a convincing act in order for him to believe you.”
Ronald nodded with a fake smile, “Okay, I’ll help you out!”
“Really?” Savannah was surprised that Ronald had agreed to her request easily.
“Yeah, go get ready.” Just as he said this, there were anxious knocks on the front door of Ronald’s apartment.
“I’ll go and check things out.”
Savannah was nervous as she said, “Could that be my dad? Do not open the door yet.”
“I can’t not let him in either, right? Get dressed and I’ll see who it is,” Ronald ignored Savannah and immediately marched out to open the door.
As he opened the door, several policemen stood outside, “Are you Ronald Brown?”
“Yes! How can I help you, officer?”
“Ought you to know a woman named Savannah Howard?”
“Yes! Yes! Why are you looking for her?”
“She released a video of her committing suicide on the Internet and it had stirred up quite a mess. We are looking for her and do you happen to know where she is now?”
“Yeah. She’s doing fine here in my apartment.”
While Savannah was busy putting on her clothes inside the room, she was stunned to hear the conversation that came from outside. She had sent the suicide video to Hayden only, since when did it get leaked onto the internet?
Before she could work it out, the policemen barged inside the room and began taking pictures of her.
Savannah covered her face frantically and said, “What are you doing? Who said you could take pictures of me?”
“Didn’t you say that you intend to take your own life? You seemed fine here. Do you think we have the time to deal with fake suicide cases like this?” The policemen took pictures while criticizing her.
“You have gone overboard. What if everyone behaves like you? This isn’t something that you can joke around about. You would have to follow us to the police station for investigation.”
