His words made Hayden feel suffocated. “How dare you complain? If your mother knows what you have done, she won’t stand up for you too! It’s all because of you! If it weren’t for you, why would the Saunders family treat Savannah like this?”
William retorted, “She deserves it! Who’s to blame if she does something wrong? Besides, I haven’t gotten even with her for what she has done to Mum, I’m already kind enough to her!”
“You brat, stop blabbering. Just show me the proof! There’s no point if you don’t have the evidence,” Hayden roared.
When Auntie saw that Hayden and William were still quarrelling, she had no choice but to come over and smooth things over. “Sir, your bird’s nest soup is ready. It’s getting late, and don’t be angry with William anymore. Please eat something!”
Hayden had been starving since the farce began. Then, he got up angrily and went to the dining hall with William following closely behind him.
“You’re having bird’s nest soup? I haven’t eaten it for a long time. Let me try it too.”
“Get lost! Savannah bought this for me. How dare you eat it?” Hayden glared at him.
William wore a cloying smile, “I don’t mind, let me try it!”
The servant had a helpless expression. “William, I didn’t know that you will come back, so I only prepared one bowl. How do you think about that?”
William stared at the stewed red bird’s nest soup. He narrowed his eyes and said, “Let me have it, Dad has always been enjoying this, but I’m different because I’ve been having a hard time. I can’t even afford normal bird’s nest soup, let alone the quality one.”
Hayden was so angry that he started laughing. “Don’t pretend you’re poor in front of me. You’re a heartless b*stard. Have you ever thought about me when you are living a luxurious life? I must be a fool if I believed you! I would rather throw this soup than give it to you.” “I don’t care, I’m going to eat this today. You hit me so hard, so you should compensate me.”
As William spoke, he went to take the soup in an unreasonable manner. This made Hayden was so angry that he almost blew his top. “Put it down! If you dare to eat it, I won’t let you off!”
“It’s just a bowl of bird’s nest soup. Why do you have to do that?” William took the soup and left. However, he exclaimed in pain because the soup was too hot that it slipped from his hands. Then, it fell to the ground with a loud crash.
Hayden was dumbfounded. “Rascal, what can you do other than cause trouble?”
“I didn’t do it on purpose! Really!” William apologized repeatedly. “Or else, how about I compensate you some bird’s nest?”
“Get lost!”
“Don’t be angry. It’s just some bird’s nest soup. Bobby, ask someone to send over some fine red bird’s nest.”
Bobby went to make a call while Hayden got up and left as he huffed with anger.
William didn’t follow Hayden to the study room to calm him down. Instead, he smiled as he watched the servant clean the floor. “Auntie, where are the bird’s nests sent by Savannah? How many are there? Let me have a look.”
“I kept them in the room. Why do you want to see them?” The servant asked curiously.
“Nothing, I’m just curious.” William followed her to the room where the bird’s nests were stored. Then, he picked up a small box and examined it carefully before he smelled it. She found his behavior somewhat odd. “William, is there any problem?”
“I suspect there is something wrong with this bird’s nest, so you’d better stop Dad from eating them.”
“She… how dare she…” The servant trembled with anger. “How heartless can she be!”
“Shh! That’s just my suspicion. Don’t spread it to the public.” William lowered his voice. “I’ll test these bird’s nests in the lab while a same set of bird nests will be sent here. You can cook them for Dad.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you!” Auntie agreed.
“Not only this, but everything from Savannah has to be kept away from Dad. Do you understand?”
“I will! Don’t worry, William, I’ll be careful. I’ll pay close attention to everything that Sir Hayden eats. I won’t let her harm Sir.”
“Thank you for your hard work!”
Soon, a new set of bird’s nests and a fresh bowl of soup arrived. Then, William took it to Hayden’s study room while Bobby brought Savannah’s bird’s nests to the car.
Hayden still wore a cold expression when he saw William. However, William didn’t care about that and he placed the soup on the desk, “Have a taste, this is cooked by the chef of the Wolf Group.”
“Who cares? Take it away.” Hayden didn’t care about William’s dignity at all.
“That’s up to you. By the way, I can’t stay any longer, so I’m leaving now.” William turned around and left while Hayden sat in a chair and stared at him. Then, William closed the door and walked out of the house. Soon, the sound of a car driving away could be heard.
Hayden sighed while Lucas pushed the door and walked in. “William has left! Please calm down.”
“Alas! How ungrateful he is!” Hayden sighed and his expression was filled with loneliness.
“William is actually very filial. He really cares about you, but you beat him too much tonight.”
“I can tell. I don’t mean it, but I was just too angry. It hurts me too when I hit him.” Hayden thought about William’s injuries and rubbed his forehead. “Have you noticed that William spilled the soup on purpose?”
“Huh? Why?” Lucas asked.
“He suspects that Savannah is harming me! That’s why he prevented me from eating the food sent by her.”
“How… how is this possible?”
“Send the spilt soup to the lab tomorrow. William would never lie to me, but I still can’t believe that Savannah will harm me. No matter what, I’m still her father.”
When William returned to his suite in the hotel, Valeria immediately came out and hugged him when she saw that he was safe and sound. “I was so worried. Your dad didn’t do anything to you, did he?”
“Dad boiled over and hit me!”
“Ah, are you injured?” Valeria was anxious when she heard that, “Let me have a look!”
“The servant has already patched me up. Dad is really cruel! He shows no mercy to me.” William took off his clothes and showed Valeria his scars.
Valeria was so upset that she burst into tears. “How can he hit you like this? Does it hurt? Why are you so foolish? Can’t you dodge it? Why must you withstand the beating?”
“It’s alright, I can endure it, but Dad is really furious this time. If he doesn’t hit me, he won’t be able to vent his anger. What can I do? He’s getting old and it’ll be worse if he bends out of shape.”
“Don’t be so foolish next time when he beats you and try to dodge as much as you can. You have to think about me, okay?”
“Got it! I won’t let him hit me next time, I promise!” William agreed with a smile. Then, he approached Valeria and kissed her when he saw her bitter expression. “Dear, smile! Don’t put on a bitter face.”
