Chapter 487 No Turning Back

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Paisley’s heart sank as she had regained her consciousness entirely after she got into the car.
Even if Paisley was really dumb, she would have still known that what happened back there wasn’t real after seeing the frightening look on Hardy’s face. She must have mistaken another man for William and had shamelessly thrown herself at him.
She must have mistaken another man for William and had shamelessly thrown herself at him. At the thought of it, she could still taste the man in her mouth. Disgusted, Paisley immediately drank a bottle of water to rinse it away.
However, she couldn’t get rid of the repulsing feeling no matter how many times she had rinsed her mouth. She murmured, “Hardy, just what is going on?”
“How would I know?” Hardy was still boiling with anger. “We’re going back right now!”
Knowing that she had totally messed up tonight, Paisley asked in a hoarse voice, “Surely there’s a way to turn things around?”
“Turn things around? How? Do you know what you’ve done!” Hardy shouted.
The infuriation on his handsome face terrified Talitha. She wasn’t as quick-witted as Paisley and the first person she saw after she regained consciousness was Hardy, so, naturally, Talitha thought the person she had kissed must have been him.
So, she felt aggrieved to receive the angry shouts from Hardy. After all, he had no right to be this furious towards his sister and the person he had just kissed. What was there to be ashamed of? It was just a kiss!
Talitha still clearly remembered how it felt to kiss him even though she was under the influence of the drug. Mustering up her courage, she complained, “Why are you so mad at Paisley? We didn’t do anything…”
“Miss Anderson, you should know how much this will affect you if you’d had some sense in you. I think you should let your parents know,” Hardy retorted bluntly.
His straightforward words left Talitha confused as she asked, “Why? What was going on?”
“Hah!” Hardy only sneered but didn’t answer her question. Then, he took out his phone to call Richard, which he couldn’t get through as it seemed that Richard had switched his phone off.
Keeping a rein on his anger, Hardy called Richard’s assistant instead. This time it went through, but Richard’s assistant had no clue where Richard was. He said, “Mr. Clark said he was going to a show and told us not to disturb him tonight. Sorry, Mr. Anthony. Maybe you should call again tomorrow.”
Hardy’s face darkened again as he heard this. Based on what Richard’s assistant had told him, it was clear that Richard was never going to let this matter go easily. “D*mn it, Richard! He has gone too far tonight. He’s asking for war!”
“Hardy, what do we do now?” Paisley had always been the one to set people up, and this was the first time she had fallen into someone else’s trap. Needless to say, Richard was obviously the one behind what happened to her and Talitha back at the club because they had made Abbie suffer previously. If Richard was going to retaliate for his sister, he wouldn’t just stop at making them kiss some random men. There must be more up his sleeves, and Paisley could only imagine how things would go if tonight’s events were to spread on the internet.
People would tear her apart, and the reputation she had kept up as a talented and noble lady for so long would be ruined.
There was no way Paisley would allow her image to be spoiled overnight. She hissed, “Hardy, find Richard. Find him right now!”
“He’s not answering the phone.
“He’s in Climax Space. I saw him with Raymond and the others,” Paisley was anxious as she turned to look at Talitha, who was still confused, and instructed, “Call Raymond now and ask him about Richard.”
Talitha immediately did as she was told and called Raymond, but the call didn’t get through as well.
“Don’t bother. It’s no use,” Hardy stopped Talitha. “Call your uncle, tell him you’ve messed with Richard, and ask him to plead for you.
“But I didn’t mess with him. What should my uncle plead for?” Talitha hadn’t gotten a hold of the situation yet.
“Talitha, we got fooled around by Richard back there. I think he’s doing this because we messed with Abbie and Azalea earlier today. They must have taken videos of us and would post them on the internet at midnight. You must get your uncle to stop Richard.”
“You mean…” Talitha scowled when she realized the person she had kissed earlier wasn’t Hardy, and she felt so disgusted that she had wanted to vomit.
Hardy looked at her in dismay, “Miss Anderson, this is not the time to be disgusted. Call your uncle. If he can’t do anything about it, then I’m afraid there’s no other way.”
Flustered, Talitha called Archer, who was quick to answer the call. “Hello?” he said.
“Uncle, call Richard immediately! No, wait. Find Richard right now…”
“Slow down, what happened?” Archer was confused.
“Richard set up Paisley and me, and embarrassing videos of us would be out there at midnight. Uncle, you must help me. Please!”
“And why did Richard do that?” Archer asked.
“I… I… ” Talitha stammered. It was then that Hardy took the phone from her and explained, “President Saunders, this is Hardy Anthony. My sister and Miss Anderson did something to Abbie this afternoon, and now Richard is getting back at them because of this. I want to meet with him to apologize, but he won’t answer my call. I hope President Saunders could help us.”
“I see… But I’m not close with Richard either. Also, with that personality of his, I don’t think he’ll listen to me.”
“President Saunders, please give it a try.”
“Fine… I’ll try my best.”
Frowning, Archer called William after he ended the call with Hardy, “William, Richard is the one messing with Talitha and Paisley, right?”
“No, it was Andrew. He said he had wanted to practice,” William was honest.
“You… Well, Hardy called and told me he wanted to apologize to Richard in person. What do you think?”
“Apologizing wouldn’t change a thing anyway,” William sneered as he turned Archer down bluntly. “This has nothing to do with you. You should drop this.”
But Archer was insistent,”William, think about it. We often cross paths with each other. Isn’t it better to make friends rather than enemies? Who knows if you’ll need Hardy’s help in the future?”
William laughed coldly, “I’ve already given them plenty of chances. I’ll be frank to you Archer, Paisley has been trying to come between Valeria and me. Not to mention, my dad likes her a lot, and he wants me to marry her. Do you still think I should help them?”
“Well…” Archer was rendered speechless.
“And that Talitha? She has been plotting against Valeria all this time, and never once did she stop provoking her. Did you expect us to sit back and do nothing when they’re the ones that started it first? If we were to let them off the hook today, they’re definitely going to make a bigger scene thinking that someone is going to save their asses anyway. So, there’s no turning back for what happened today!”
