Archer was excited when he heard that. “Quick! Give it to me!”
“Tell me why you’re looking for her first.” Gavin wanted to know why Archer was looking for the nanny that used to take care of Raymond twenty years ago.
“I want to hear about what happened when Raymond was still a child.”
“She’s just a nanny. How can she know? You might as well ask me because I know more than her.” He thought that Archer cared about Raymond suddenly.
“Well, Dad, give me the address. I’ll find her right away.”
He then said it out, “No. 3 in Baker Street of B City.”
Archer hung up the phone and told Lamont, “We’ve found the nanny. Follow this address.”
Lamont immediately changed his car’s direction and said, “Sir, we’ve found his nanny, but we still haven’t heard from Savannah’s obstetrician yet. It’s a little harder to find him since he is no longer in B City.”
“Yes, but let’s ask the nanny first.”
More than an hour later, they finally arrived at their destination. Archer looked at the building in front of him and smiled coldly, “Hah! She must have made a fortune. If not, how can a mere nanny live in such a luxurious place?”
“Yeah, this house is worth at least tens of millions of dollars, isn’t it? Maybe she won the lottery recently?”
“Maybe!” Both of them rang the doorbell. Soon, a middle-aged woman, who had a plump appearance, opened the door.
She was shocked to see Archer and Lamont, and she wanted to close the door after regaining her senses.
However, Lamont put one hand against the door, and Archer’s eyes fell on her face. Although she had become fatter and older, he still recognized she was the nanny who took care of Raymond. Archer sneered as he saw her expression, “Heh! Are you afraid of me?”
“No! Sir Arch… No, I mean… President Saunders, please come in!” The nanny panicked as she stuttered.
Thus, they stepped into the house as she led them into the living room nervously and said, “Please sit down! I’ll prepare tea for you!”
“No need. Just sit down. I have something to ask you.” She was a little nervous when she saw Archer, so she had wanted to make a call under the pretense of making tea. However, he did not give her a chance at all, so she had to sit down and said, “Why are you looking for me?”
“Were you the one who inflicted the injuries on Raymond’s body?”
“Ye… Yes!” The nanny nodded.
“But that’s not what I’ve heard. There’s something else behind this, so I came to you. You’d better tell me the truth!”
“It was me! I hated Savannah, but I couldn’t hurt her, so I vented my anger on Raymond. I know that it’s my fault…”
“Really? I don’t have much patience. Are you sure you don’t want to tell the truth?” His eyes suddenly became colder.
The nanny was shivering under his gaze. Lamont sneered and said, “Hah! Get ready to accept the consequences! Let me tell you, we are giving you a chance, but our president won’t talk to you kindly when he is impatient. You should think about your family even you’re not afraid of death, right?”
“I…” She couldn’t take it anymore. She always thought that the incident was over after she had admitted to the crimes. However, she didn’t expect that Archer would come back after 20 years.
She knew the power of the Saunders family very well. Back then, she was sent to prison for two years because she had pleaded guilty. In fact, she had done so for money.
Now, how could she use the money if both she and her family lost their lives?
After thinking for a while, she requested him with courage, “If… if I told you the truth, would you let me go? You won’t take anything that I’ve received, right?”
“No! As long as you tell the truth, we will not investigate the past incident anymore. We’ll even compensate you if you’re innocent.”
Upon hearing Archer’s words, she could confirm that he already knew the incident well, so she didn’t dare to hide the truth anymore.
“I… I wasn’t the one who intend to kill Sir Raymond! No matter how vicious I was, I wouldn’t do such a cruel thing to a child.” She denied it.
“Savannah is the one who did it! She often went crazy and treated him like her enemy. Besides, she didn’t feed him or allow us to change his diapers, and she would even hit him until he was injured all over! Gavin once came to see him and asked her about Raymond’s bruise on his face, but she lied that he had accidentally fallen off his bed. He was upset, and he scolded her. After that, she became furious and cursed at Raymond. Later, Dixie persuaded her to control herself from hurting him. She also told Savannah to hit his body instead of his face so that other people would not see his injuries.”
Archer’s face darkened after hearing that. How could she be so vicious to do such thing to a child who was only a few months old? Was she still human?
The nanny was too scared to say anything when she saw his expression. He calmed down and said, “Go on.”
“Then, she began to hit him, and she caused many bruises on his body. I felt sorry for him, but I couldn’t do anything about it. Everyone thought that she was gentle and kind, but in fact, she was very frightening.”
She recalled Savannah’s terrifying expression. “When Gavin came to see him, he found out that Raymond was getting thinner, so he forced him to go to see a doctor as he thought that Raymond was sick. After that, she panicked because she was afraid that Gavin would discover the bruises. That’s why she asked Dixie to find me making a lie. She said that I had to lie and admit to injuring in if Gavin asked me about it. Since it was too tempting, I agreed to her request.”
Archer’s face became more serious when they left there. No mother would hurt her own child, so why did Savannah treat Raymond like this?
Did Savannah have a grudge because he had not treated her well?
They why didn’t she get a divorce? Why did she insist on marrying him?
Archer could not understand, and Lamont was astonished as well. How much more would Raymond suffer if Gavin had not raised him instead?
He glanced at Archer in the rearview mirror. “Sir, what should we do next?”
“At first, I wanted to find the doctors and nurses who helped that b*tch to give birth to ask about her condition in the past. However, all of the files were burned because of a fire in the hospital. Besides, her doctors and nurses have been missing since then. Urgh! This is getting troublesome.”
Archer frowned. Suddenly, he remembered what the nanny had told him. Dixie had taught Savannah how to hurt Raymond without anyone noticing, so she had to know the truth as she had been by Savannah’s side for so many years. Thus, if they wanted to find out what had happened, they had to investigate Dixie.
