Lamont immediately dialed Valeria’s number. He heard her voice once the call was connected, “What’s up?”
“Where are you?” Lamont asked eagerly. “President Saunders and I will come to you now. Stay there and don’t move because a dangerous incident happened.”
“My husband is beside me right now, so I’ll be fine,” She replied.
However, both of them were still worried, so they rushed to find her.
Valeria was not only with William but also Richard, Michael, Raymond, and Abbie.
Because of the murderer’s ferociousness, the police gathered the staff of the resort to verify their identities. Some of them continued to check the rooms and other places that the murderer could hide.
The news about how a murderer had stabbed the police spread. The people who had gathered were talking about it.
“It’s rare to see someone so crazy. Heh! He’s probably killing everyone because he’s desperate!” Richard sneered.
“We’ll see how long he can escape. It’s just a matter of time before he’s found,” Michael replied faintly.
“That’s true. We’d better be careful. After all, he is a wanted criminal. He’ll do awful things if he knows that he can’t escape anymore. If he takes a hostage to threaten the police, it will be troublesome.” William hugged Valeria. “Everyone stay here. We should not go out to make trouble before the police find him.”
Archer and Lamont were relieved to see everyone was safe and sound after they came in.
Richard and Michael greeted Archer first after they saw him. Then, Andrew and Abbie did the same.
Only William, Valeria, and Raymond remained quiet as if they didn’t see both of them. However, Archer didn’t care about it, and he sat down after greeting Richard and others back.
Raymond was in a bad mood and frowned. He and Abbie had wanted to check whether their guess was correct, but he didn’t expect such a serious incident to happen.
Before the murderer appeared in Valeria’s room, he still assumed Savannah wasn’t the mastermind behind this. She was his mother, so she wouldn’t do this to him!
However, he suspected her now that the murderer had stabbed the police and fled out of Valeria’s room.
Only Savannah knew that he was here, and he never told anyone else about it. Furthermore, she had the time and the ability to prepare everything.
But why did she deal with Valeria in such a frenzy? Was it because Valeria was Natalie’s daughter?
However, this reason was farfetched, wasn’t it? She had coped with Valeria in the past twenty years, so why did she suddenly take action now? There had to be a reason behind it.
After Archer and Lamont sat down, Raymond turned his head sullenly. He inexplicably hated Archer.
If all of this was done by Savannah, then Archer was the culprit. Since he loved Natalie so much, why didn’t he be with her? So what if Savannah was pregnant?
He could choose not to marry her!
Since he had married her, he should treat her well. In the end, she became so ferocious and brutal because of Archer, who ignored her all the time.
The atmosphere in the room was a little awkward because of the appearance of Archer and Lamont.
Valeria sat closely beside William. Archer had his reason to continue staying as he wanted to find a chance to talk to Valeria. However, she never left William, so he could not find an opportunity to do so.
Later on, Richard and Michael felt bored, so they suggested to play cards. After inviting William, they politely asked Archer whether he wanted to join them.
Normally, he would refuse them. However, Valeria still sat next to William, who just joined the game. Thus, he did not want to give up this chance to get close to his daughter. Hence, he nodded and agreed.
William smiled slightly to see the money contributor joining. He squinted and said with a chuckle, “How big of a deal are we going to bet on?”
Richard and Michael looked at each other. How could William be so ruthless that towards his father-in-law? They said at the same time, “President Saunders, what do you think is a great deal?”
Archer never gambled. He then shook his head and said, “I don’t play this often, so I just follow what y’all decide.”
“President Saunders is rich and generous, so let’s bet the largest!” Richard said as he began to shuffle the cards.
Lamont, who was standing behind Archer, frowned. Four people were playing this game. Apart from Archer, the other three were all good at eating, drinking and gambling. Therefore, he would not be able to get anything good from them today.
He was a little worried, but since Archer already decided, he could not say anything. So, he stood behind Archer and watched the game unfold.
Archer was not proficient in gambling, so he lost three times in a row. William squinted and said with a smile, “President Saunders, thanks for letting us win!”
Lamont frowned and looked at William. He felt that William seemed to be a swindler, but he couldn’t find any clues.
Valeria was happy to see William winning. “Honey, remember to give a red packet.”
“Of course, the money is yours because you are mine,” William replied with a smile.
Abbie was envious of them. She then pushed Raymond and Andrew and said, “Hey! Aren’t both of you going to get the red packets? Don’t let Valeria take all of them!”
Andrew immediately asked William with a smile, “Uncle William, can I get one too?”
“Yes, I’ll ask your aunt to give it to you,” William replied generously.
Raymond did not ask William for it. Instead, he looked at Valeria and said, “Aunt, I also want one, please!”
Archer’s hand stopped after he heard how Raymond had addressed Valeria. Then, both he and Lamont turned to look at them.
Surprisingly, Raymond and Valeria looked similar now that they were standing together, especially their smiling faces.
Lamont and Archer were stunned. After that, Archer had never won a single time.
After more than an hour, Archer already lost a lot of money. The game only ended until the police knocked at the door and said that the culprit had been caught.
This was a big gamble, so Archer had lost more than 100 million dollars. William squinted and looked at Valeria. “Darling, ask Mr. Saunders for money!”
He opened the wallet calmly and took out a card, then handed it to her. “The password is six times of eights.”
“Thank you, President Saunders!” She took it happily, but Andrew snatched the card away.
“I’ll take my red packet first. Otherwise, I’m afraid that uncle and you won’t keep your promises.”
“Hey! Watch your attitude!” Valeria tried to grab the card from Andrew, but then Raymond also joined into it. The three of them were arguing over there.
William squinted and smiled while sitting beside. Archer stood up and looked at his watch. “William, do you have time to meet again?”
“Do you want to make a comeback after losing?” William raised his eyebrows and asked.
“That’s right.”
“I don’t think I have the time recently. Maybe after some time then.” He knew that Archer’s purpose was not to make a bet with him. Instead, Archer wanted to tell him about something regarding Valeria. Hence, he refused his request without mercy.
Lamont was unhappy because he had never seen such an arrogant person. He would have scolded him if Archer wasn’t here!
