Lamont’s car speed obviously slowed down a lot. Archer’s words reminded him that Lucian is not a good person. He asked in disbelief, “Do you suspect that Lucian opened this resort is because of her and her cousin?”
“It’s not just the resort villa! There are other crimes related to Lucian. However, the resort is the main reason why I pay attention to her. How can she have such great ability as she is only Natalie’s assistant? Where do the start-up funds come from even if she has the ability? It’s hard to set up such a big resort with so little money, unless that matter is related to her!”
Lamont actually knew about what happened that year. Natalie’s company had a huge fraud scandal, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars.
After the incident happened, Lucian shifted the responsibility to Ronald, while he claimed that it was Lucian who did it.
The two of them argued and quarreled, but the funds could never be recovered. Lucian left because of this matter.
Thinking of that incident in the past, Lamont had a look of surprise. “President, are you suspecting that Lucian has embezzled President Garcia’s property?”
“There’s no doubt, it must be like this!” Archer sneered. He had known about Lucian’s family situation for a while. They were poor for several generations, and only Lucian had been admitted to a famous university.
Her cousin who was known as the legal advisor of the resort was a street hooligan and his hands were always stained with blood. Was it possible for him to turn into an upper-class person all of a sudden?
It was impossible for him to walk on the right path.
Lamont felt bitter. Although he had a personal relationship with Lucian, the reason why he was in contact with her was all because of Archer and Natalie.
He was Archer’s confidant while Lucian was Natalie’s trusted companion. He had sympathy for Lucian when the incident happened to her that year. He thought that she was innocent and felt that Natalie should not drive her away heartlessly. However, when he heard Archer’s words now, he felt that he was too naive.
“President, when did you start suspecting Lucian?”
“I’ve been suspecting Lucian for a long time!” Archer gave a wry smile. “Since I was in relationship with Natalie, I felt that Lucian was not that innocent when she worked as Natalie’s assistant. I once told Natalie to stay away from Lucian, but she said that she didn’t need to mistrust people. You must know her temper. Thus, it’s useless for me to persuade her.”
“However, Lucian was not a suspicious person back then, right?” Lamont found it incredible.
“Yeah, she seemed to be loyal to Natalie in the past. She was always considerate about Natalie and no flaw could be found in her, but she was not that kind to me.”
Archer sneered, “The reason why I got into such a bad situation with Natalie in the past was mainly because of Lucian. Did you know why I rushed to the hospital and shouted at Natalie who just lost her child? It was Lucian who told me that Natalie went to do an abortion and I was unable to hold my temper. That’s why Natalie is disappointed in me.”
“Other than that, it was Lucian who came to find me regarding the matter of marrying Savannah. She knelt and begged me, saying that she didn’t want to see Natalie in jail. If she was really sent to jail by Hayden, then her whole life would be over. Natalie wouldn’t hurt if I marry Savannah.”
Lamont was a little stunned. “Why have you never told me all of it?”
“There’s no need to. You can’t change anything even if I told you,” Archer said with a wry smile.
“By the way, at that time, I dealt with it badly and I was overwhelmed. I was worried that Natalie would be sent to jail, but my parents tried their best to oppose Natalie’s marriage to me, and my mom even threatened to kill herself because of it. In order to maintain the peace, I had no choice but to compromise. I thought that Savannah, this wicked woman, would not be able to stand the loneliness. If I didn’t contact with her, she would be divorced after staying as a widow for a few years. I didn’t expect her to be so persistent.”
Lamont knew about Archer’s situation at that time. “You were forced to do that! It’s not your fault!”
“It’s my fault! I know it’s all because of me! I was useless at that time. There’s always a good one replaces the bad one!” Archer sighed with relief.
“Lamont, take a look at William and I. We’re about the same age and background, but he is obviously better than me in dealing with stuff and that’s why he is living a good life now. If I am good as him, such an incident won’t happen at all!”
“It’s already past, you don’t have to blame yourself, President. The most important thing right now is to get rid of Savannah, that b*tch.” Lamont did not expect that Archer, who had always been arrogant, would admit defeat. He just subconsciously comforted him.
“If Raymond didn’t exist and he wasn’t born by that wicked woman, Savannah, I’ll rather let Valeria marry a man like William. He will protect her and love her with all his heart. I really can’t find anyone who can match my Valeria except William!”
Archer was upset as there was no turning back in this world. His daughter would be very shocked and sad after knowing all of this. Everything he had experienced in the past was about to be experienced by his daughter again. He hated that he could not change the consequence.
He always thought that he was omnipotent, but now he knew that he could do nothing.
Night was coming slowly and the bonfire was lit by the lake of the resort villa.
There were guests taking luxury cars into the resort. Raymond and Abbie failed to invite anyone except Valeria, Richard, Andrew, and Michael.
Looking at the luxury cars coming in one after another, Raymond was a little dumbfounded. “Abbie, what’s going on? Didn’t you say that you never inform others? Did you invite these people?”
“No? Didn’t you invite them?” Abbie asked in reply.
Richard smiled and said, “It’s me, can’t I?”
“Bro, why did you invite so many people here?” Abbie was anxious. She had discussed with Raymond to not disturb anyone and see whether Savannah would fall into the trap. Now, Richard had invited so many people and it would be difficult to keep a secret when so many people talked around. If something happens, who would be the one to disclose it?
Abbie was extremely anxious. “So how are we going to verify it? You really can’t do anything right!”
Richard only smiled and remained silent even as he saw Abbie worried. Valeria’s eyesight was keen and said, “This… Abbie, I just saw several cars which my husband has driven before. How can these people drive my husband’s car?”
“You are right. Your husband is stingy and petty. How can his car be driven casually by others?”
Michael squinted and asked with a smile.
“You’re not only stingy and petty, but also fickle and shameless!” Hearing Michael slandered William, Valeria cursed him back unhappily.
“That’s right, you shameless thing. What makes you think you have the right to say that to William?” Abbie laughed coldly.
“I see, are all these people uncle’s…” Raymond suddenly covered his mouth.
