Natalie’s thought was cut off by a door knock. She opened the door, and Lucian slipped in.
“Why are you here? I told you not to come over. Send someone else to come if there’s something important. People are going to notice you,” Natalie complained.
“I know, I’m just worried. How are you holding up? Did the pain hit again today?” Lucian was concerned as usual.
“Yeah, it did,” Natalie answered.
“Take the painkillers if it hurts. I bought a few more bottles for you,” Lucian said as she took out the bottles from her pocket and put them on the bedside table.
Natalie took a glance at the painkillers and turned to her, “You can’t be here only to give me the painkillers.”
“Yes, I want to talk to you about Sir Gavin meeting Miss,” Lucian sat down. “I think there’s a good way to solve that problem.”
“How is that?”
“Since you hate Savannah and Archer, then we’ll start from the Saunders family.”
“Go on.”
“Savannah married Archer and had a son. We’ll find a way to kill their son.”
Lucian laughed coldly, “Savannah only needed her son to secure her position in the family. She would be nothing without him, and that’s when Miss Brown comes into the picture. I think Sir Gavin already knows who she is, and he clearly wants her back. This is our chance.”
“You want to use Valeria?” Natalie asked.
“I’m not using Miss Brown. This is all for her sake. Archer only has one child. Once Raymond dies, Miss Brown will take Raymond’s place. Sir Gavin likes her anyway. By that time, she’ll be the only heir who has the most say in the family. And it’ll be a piece of cake to take care of Savannah.”
“It’s a good plan, but you overlooked just one thing,” Natalie looked at Lucian coldly.
Even though Lucian’s plan was almost unflawed in every aspect, Natalie couldn’t agree with her. She retorted, “Judging by how evil Savannah is, do you think she’ll accept Valeria into the family that easily? I will never let Savannah harm my girl.”
“You don’t have a second option. Sir Gavin is now meeting Miss Brown frequently. Do you think Savannah wouldn’t have noticed by now? She won’t sit still anyway, so why not make a move before her? Let her get a taste of your pain first!”
“We’ll talk about it again,” Natalie still disapproved of it.
“Alright, give it some thought,” Lucian dropped the subject. “It’s getting late. I have to go. Take the painkillers if the pain comes back.”
After seeing Lucian off, Natalie returned to sit on her bed. Her eyes fell on the painkillers that Lucian bought for her.
As much as the painkillers were effective, the side effects were as strong too. Natalie wondered where Lucian got them from.
Everyone changed over time. Twenty years ago, Lucian used to be loyal to her as if her whole world revolved around Natalie. But Natalie didn’t know who Lucian had become after so many years.
She wasn’t the kind of person who did things extremely, but Lucian seemed to be very different now. She needed to think over the plan again before she agreed to anything.
The next day, Gavin went to the Central South Building with Oreo, his cat, in one hand and Mocha’s dog strap in the other.
Valeria hurried out of her office after she received Gavin’s call, and Gavin quickly turned to Oreo and Mocha after seeing her coming from afar.
“Mocha, look. That pretty girl walking towards us is Valeria, your miss. Go and impress her later. And Oreo, this is your showtime. Don’t be lazy. If you guys can make Valeria fall in love with you, there will be rewards tonight.”
Valeria saw Gavin too. She sped up after seeing Gavin holding a pretty black dog and a black cat in his arms.
Mocha immediately ran towards Valeria as soon as Gavin let go of the dog strap, and he sat down beside her, extending one of his front legs.
“You want to shake hands?” Valeria was amazed. She held out her hand to see Mocha put his leg on her palm, and they shook hands. Oreo, seeing it, jumped off Gavin’s arm and rushed over into Valeria’s embrace, thinking of getting her snacks tonight.
Surprised, Valeria tightened her arms around the big fat cat. Mocha got jealous and stood up, putting one leg on Valeria’s shoulder while wagging his tail, trying his best to impress her.
And she laughed. Oreo and Mocha had successfully made her fall in love with them.
“Sir, they’re so cute! How did you train them to be so smart? Jeez, I really like them!”
“You can bring them home for a day or two if you want,” Gavin said generously.
“Really?” Valeria was so tempted.
“Of course. Why would I lie to you?”
Gavin gestured to Mocha, “Mocha, boy, buy Valeria a flower, will you?”
Upon hearing that, Mocha let go of Valeria and went towards Gavin. He then turned to leave after taking some money from Gavin.
There was a flower shop nearby, and Mocha headed straight towards it with the money in his mouth.
Valeria couldn’t believe her eyes. She couldn’t help but ask, “Can he really buy flowers?”
“Of course! He can even calculate the change. Why don’t we go and have a look?”
So, Valeria carried Oreo in her arms and walked there with Gavin, and Mocha was already done buying flowers. Running towards Valeria, he gave the rose to Valeria like how a quirky kid will do.
Valeria burst out laughing, “I can’t! He’s too adorable!”
Oreo wasn’t happy hearing that, and she began to meow and whirl in jealousy to get Valeria’s attention.
“Alright, alright, you’re a cutie too. I like Mocha, and I like you too!”
A while later, Valeria returned to her office with a black cat and a black dog. Although dumbfounded at first, Braelynn quickly tried to play with them.
However, even though Oreo and Mocha were so nice to Valeria, they were indifferent to Braelynn.
After all, they weren’t just any cats and dogs. They were only being nice to please Valeria, of course they wouldn’t treat the other people the same way.
On the contrary, Lamont’s face darkened when he came back and saw Gavin’s pets around Valeria.
“Sir Gavin had only one simple job, and yet he failed to listen to the instructions. Now, Archer would definitely know who Miss Brown is,” Lamont thought.
It gave Lamont a headache just at the thought of it. Right then, Archer called him. So, he went outside to pick up the call.
Archer sounded serious, “What’s with Dad bringing those pets he treasures so much to Valeria?”
“Uh… He…”
“Lamont, are you hiding anything from me? I know my dad very well. Oreo and Mocha are the only things he had, and now he’s giving them to Valeria? There must be a reason, and I’m sure you know about it.”
Since Archer already had some hunch about it, Lamont knew there was no point in hiding the truth anymore. He sighed, “Miss Brown is Sir Gavin’s granddaughter… and your daughter.”
