Chapter 382 It Must Be Savannah

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Savannah wasn’t expecting such bad news.
It was true that Savannah didn’t want Archer to love Raymond, but this wasn’t what she had in mind. Besides Archer’s talent, his wealth was also one of the reasons she married him.
If Archer never gave Raymond a chance to work in the company, all her effort before now would go wasted.
Savannah wasn’t going to let this happen. “Dad, what should I do now?” she asked immediately.
“How would I know?” Hayden vented out at her.
“Dad, you need to help Raymond. I know I deserve this, but Raymond has nothing to do with my plans. For the sake of Raymond, please,” Savannah was using the last bit of sympathy in Hayden to help her.
Indeed, Hayden only called her because he pitied Raymond.
He laughed coldly, “All of these wouldn’t have happened if it’s not because of you. Talk to your father-in-law. Archer may be managing the company, but he couldn’t be making all of the decisions. Gavin is also a major shareholder. Bring Raymond along when you talk to him. I believe he will do something about it.”
“Alright, I’ll go get Raymond now,” Savannah hung up the phone. She was so pissed that she was ready to fight the war.
She would never let Archer do as he pleased.
At the detention house in B City, Ronald was sitting in a small room, staring at the door.
He had been locked up here for some time. There was nothing he could do other than eating, sleeping, and staring at the door.
No one cared about him. If it weren’t for the authorities who had been providing food for him, Ronald would have thought that he had been forgotten.
He had no one to talk to, and he didn’t know what the situation was out there. This empty life was suffering, and he was convinced that he might die if it continued any longer.
Just then, the sound of footsteps coming from the corridor gave him a little hope. He needed someone just to talk to. It didn’t matter whether the person was coming to question him or to curse him. He just needed someone to be with him.
Ronald got up and went to the small window at the door. The sound was getting closer, and then it stopped right in front. The door was unlocked.
It was the guards. One of them said, “Come out. Someone is here to see you.”
Ronald went out quickly, a little too excited for a prisoner. “Officer, who is it?” he asked.
“You’ll see,” the guard answered coldly.
It had been a long time since he had last spoken to anyone. So, Ronald didn’t stop, “Why is my case still left hanging? When will the jury decide on the verdict?”
The two guards remained silent. Soon, they arrived at a room, and the guards shoved Ronald inside.
William was waiting for him in the room with his legs crossed. Unexpectedly, he beamed when he saw Ronald and joked, “Wow, doing pretty good lately? You’ve gained weight… Seems like you’re getting comfortable there.”
“William! Are you here to ask me something?” Ronald asked eagerly.
“Yes, I do have something to ask you,” William gave him a sarcastic look. “I’ll even help to bail you out if your answer satisfies me.”
“Really? You’re serious?”
“Of course, but only if your answer satisfies me!” William emphasized.
“I will tell you everything I know! I promise!”
“That’s good. Let’s get down to business then. Savannah, Archer, and Natalie had some history back then. Tell me everything you know about it.”
“I already told you what I knew the last time we met. How about you ask me some questions. I’ll see if I missed out on any details,” Ronald replied with a wry smile.
He used to look down upon William. But after all that time he spent in the detention room thinking, he knew William wasn’t as simple as he presented. Not many people can lock him up and not get it interfered with by Savannah or Declan.
Ronald didn’t really have a choice but to tell William everything he knew to get a turning point in his life.
Noticing how desperate Ronald was to get out of this place, William grinned, “I want to know everything about Natalie’s premature baby and Savannah’s pregnancy.”
“Natalie was only seven months into her pregnancy when she gave birth. She and Archer weren’t on good terms since Savannah was also pregnant a month after her. She wanted Archer to do something about it to show his sincerity. But Archer was under the control of Gavin and Hayden at that time. So, there was nothing Archer could do.”
Ronald continued as he tried to recall, “Savannah was well taken care of after she was pregnant. She never showed up in public. Even Archer never saw her for a few months. Eventually, Natalie got very anxious, but there was still no news from Archer. They had a big fight, and Natalie said she was going to terminate her pregnancy. Annoyed, Archer went to see Savannah again. But Savannah was under tight surveillance by Sir Gavin and Sir Hayden’s bodyguards. It was during that night something happened to Natalie.”
William prompted, “What happened?”
“That’s when your mother came into the story. Natalie was on her way home when she accidentally knocked on your mom’s car. I wasn’t there, but I heard that your mom was frightened. She was pregnant with you at that time. So, her nanny got furious and started scolding Natalie, insulting her for her pregnancy before marriage. Naturally, Natalie couldn’t take it and slapped the nanny. It triggered your mom’s bodyguard, and he hit her stomach when he pushed her back. Even though Natalie was sent to the hospital, the doctors couldn’t save the baby. When Archer knew this, he thought she did it on purpose. He wasn’t thinking straight. And then he went to the hospital and got into another big fight with Natalie.”
William frowned, “Go on.”
“Natalie has hated your mom ever since. She thinks your mom killed her baby. So, she went to argue with your mom after she got discharged. And you should know the rest of the story… She pushed your mom and caused your mom to go into labor, losing too much blood, and then died.”
As Ronald finished his story, he couldn’t help but study William’s expression, “William, I always thought Savannah planned these two incidents.”
“Tell me about it.”
“Savannah would do anything to marry Archer. So, she might set up the accident between Natalie and your mom. Same goes to the time Natalie pushed your mom.”
