Chapter 360 Really Sensitive

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

There was no one outside, except for Elizabeth’s cat. Charles glared at the cat in disgust and shouted at it, “Stupid cat! Go away!”
Then, the cat meowed and left. Charles then shut the door and returned to the room as Savannah looked at him mockingly. “You’ve become really sensitive now, bro.”
Charles said with a darkened expression, “We have to be vigilant at all times. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
In the room next to them, Elizabeth held her breath and walked out barefooted, with her shoes in hand.
That was close! Fortunately, the room next door was open and she managed to slip inside silently as she was barefooted. If Charles knew that she had been eavesdropping, she would be dead by now.
With such mind-blowing news, Elizabeth was undeniably excited. She walked out of the mansion silently and put on her shoes outside before she left in a hurry.
Once she was out of the mansion, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then, she took out her phone and called Mason. “Mason, are you in the office? I’m coming over right now.”
Half an hour later, Elizabeth arrived at Mason’s company. Seeing how rushed she was, Mason poured a glass of water for her and asked, “Auntie, what’s the matter?”
Elizabeth took the glass from him and emptied it in one go. She lowered her voice and said, “Mason, something big has happened. I overheard Charles and Savannah’s conversation and learned some shocking secrets. ”
“Really?” Mason’s face was immediately filled with intrigue. “What secrets?”
“Did you know that William’s mother was actually killed by the both of them? And I think Valeria’s mother death was their doings too!”
“Really? This…” Mason was shocked as he heard this. “Aunt, are you sure it’s true? This is not a small matter, but a matter of life and death. You can’t just spout nonsense.”
“This is definitely true. I’m telling you, Charles is a vicious person. Killing is like second nature to him.”
“How do you know? Who else did he kill?” Mason asked hurriedly.
“Well… doesn’t matter. Mason, don’t you believe me? I would never lie to you.” An uneasy look flashed across her face.
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, but this is something serious. Aunt, you have to tell me everything you know so I can understand better.”
“Alright, I’ll just tell you the truth. Do you know how his wife died? Charles killed her.” Elizabeth said in a low voice.
“When I had first started sneaking around with Charles, he had never intended to marry me back then. One time, when he was staying over at my place, his wife came and caught us red-handed. She was hitting me, and said that she would expose what he did to everyone and that she was going to make him go to prison. Charles then discussed this matter with me, and said that his wife knew about a secret of his and that he had to silence her.”
“Was the secret him killing William’s mother?” Mason interrupted.
“He had his guard up against me back then, so he didn’t tell me what it was. After his wife threatened him that night, he discussed with me about wanting to kill his wife. Then, you know what happened. His wife was killed in an accident.”
After Elizabeth finished speaking, the expressions on Mason’s face changed drastically. “Aunt, so you were involved in this? Because you were his accomplice in killing his wife, he agreed to marry you. Is that it? Because both of you are in the same boat?”
“Mason, why are you saying it like that?” Elizabeth’s face reddened and then paled. “I did it for your sake! I wanted to let you have a good life and become someone strong enough. I did all this so that you could make the Eich family well again!”
Elizabeth did not deny being an accomplice and Mason’s heart sank as he figured out the truth. Elizabeth must have been involved in killing Charles’ wife!
The woman in front of him was a murderer. She was his aunt, who treated him best, but also a murderer…
Although Elizabeth was cruel to others, she had always been good to him. He couldn’t think of a single bad thing she had done to him.
His parents died when he was still young, and Elizabeth was the one who took care of him as his mother.
Mason sighed at the thought of this and said, “Aunt, I can’t believe that you participated in this. Why didn’t you think about the consequences before doing it?”
“I had no other choice back then. I had to take care of you but we had nowhere to stay. It was too tough, so I had wanted to get rid of that life. I could only take the risk and hope that it could help me marry Charles so that we would have someone to count on. But I didn’t know that things would turn out like this.”
Elizabeth meant that everything she did was for his sake. As he heard this, Mason sighed and said, “It’s no use blaming you now. Aunt, you must have come to me because you have plans in mind, right?”
“That’s right. I do have a plan.” Elizabeth laughed coldly. “Charles Howard had never treated me like a woman, or a person either. He’s so vicious and stuck-up. After being with him for so many years, I have never benefitted from it once. I couldn’t find a way to get even with him. So, after hearing his filthy secret, I finally have a chance.
“What do you have in mind?”
“I’m going to threaten him with this, and it would be great if I was given money in return.”
“Aunt, you have to think about this carefully. You know how cruel he is, right? Savannah is no different from him too. If anything goes wrong, they might kill you too.”
“That’s why I came to you. We should plan this out carefully.”
Meanwhile, William was asleep in the mansion until around 5 in the evening. When he opened his eyes, he immediately felt uncomfortable as he had been sleeping on the sofa. He was utterly annoyed as he looked at Raymond, who was sleeping soundly on his bed. Then, he walked over and dragged him to the floor.
Raymond was sleeping peacefully until he felt himself being thrown abruptly to the ground. He immediately woke up and shouted, “Help! Uncle William is going to kill me!”
Right at this moment, Hayden had just returned from meeting up with Gavin. Once he entered the living room, he heard Raymond’s bloodcurdling screams and was shocked.
He anxiously ordered Andrew, who was playing mobile games nonchalantly downstairs, to take a look. ” Andrew, hurry upstairs and see what’s happening! William is bullying Raymond!”
“He deserves a good beating anyway. That disrespectful punk. Serves him right!” Andrew was not in the least bothered.
Hayden walked up to him and snatched his phone away, “Hurry up and go!”
Only then did Andrew walk upstairs to take a look. He saw Raymond lying on the floor and laughed at him. “You haven’t learnt much during your time overseas, but your howling skills have surely improved.”
“I’m in so much pain right now. It hurts! Uncle William! You’ve gone overboard! I was dreaming about Abbie and I… and he suddenly dragged me to the floor! How infuriating!”
“You and your fantasies. You dreamt of Abbie? You mean Abbie beating you to a pulp?” Andrew laughed mockingly and turned to William, “Do you feel better now, Uncle William? Can we leave already?”
William rubbed his aching neck and said, “There’s nothing to feel good about! It hurts sleeping on the sofa.”
“Grandpa is back. He asked me to come up and check on you. I think it’s also time for us to leave.”
“Yes, hurry up and get ready. We’re going to the Wolf Group.” William went into the bathroom to wash up. Raymond, too, crawled up from the floor. “I have to change into something nice and clean myself up to get Abbie’s attention!”
Andrew rolled his eyes at him and said, “Dream on!”
