William had been investigating the truth. The only thing he knew was that his mother had died of blood loss after being pushed down the stairs by Natalie.
Why did Natalie, who had no grudge against his mother, push her down the stairs? After all, his mother was pregnant. Who would treat a pregnant woman like this?
Hence, William investigated Natalie, and he always thought that she was a vicious woman.
However, the results of the investigation showed that she was a kind and generous person.
As the head of the Brownard Group, she had always kept a low profile. When he sent people to investigate her, they often saw her going to an orphanage or nursing home to help out.
That was not something a vicious woman would do unless she was pretending.
Not only was Natalie kind-hearted, but her daughter, Valeria, was the same.
When he first saw Valeria, he was mesmerized by her raw beauty. He initially had little to no feelings towards women, but he felt an attraction to her when he saw Valeria for the first time.
He had the chance to make Natalie go bankrupt and have nothing left. But later, he changed his plan.
The reason why he did so was because of Valeria. He realized that he wouldn’t get rid of the hatred in his heart by screwing with Natalie. Instead, he would mess with the person she loved the most. Only then could she feel the pain.
He had been watching Valeria, and there were many photos of her in his mailbox. When he was bored, he would flip through her photos.
Every move she made did not escape his eyes. That year when Valeria was in danger, he was nearby. When he saw that she was in trouble, he saved her without hesitation.
After sending her to the hospital, he left quietly. Later, he learned that Valeria had mistaken Mason as the one who saved her, so they got closer.
William knew clearly who Mason was. When he heard that Valeria and Mason were together, he was surprised, but he felt that this was a good opportunity. Valeria was willing to mistake Mason for the person who saved her, so he let her be.
Mason was an evil man. If he married her, she would be in pain for the rest of her life.
If that happened, Natalie would be in great pain as she watched her daughter suffer. He had been watching them from the sidelines. He knew that Valeria was taking care of Mason and treating him as her savior.
He also knew that Mason had cheated on her with Ashley. William thought that the situation was getting ever better.
However, he did not expect Natalie to die so suddenly, and he did not expect Ashley to plot against Valeria.
He actually hesitated to save Valeria that night. If Ashley had successfully tricked her, it would be a good thing for him. After Natalie’s death, her daughter would replace her as his target for revenge. But in the end, he had to save her.
That night, he was seduced by Valeria, who Ashley drugged. He had a chance to send her to the hospital, but he failed to control himself in the end.
He didn’t think that Valeria was a virgin, nor did he expect that he would deviate even more from his original intentions. Everything Valeria did made him want to help and protect her.
At this point, he could not lie to himself anymore. He had fallen in love with Valeria. Even if she was the daughter of the person who killed his mother and Archer’s daughter, he did not care at all.
Even if he didn’t care, would Valeria be able to do the same?
He was willing to give up his revenge for her sake, but what was she willing to do?
Valeria, who was lying on the bed, opened her eyes and turned around to look at him on the balcony.
The night wind slowly lifted the window curtains. William’s handsome face flickered between the shadows. He looked quite lonely and troubled, and she had never seen him like this before.
William was always cheerful and liked to smile in front of her. However, he was currently furrowing his eyebrows and smoking a cigarette. She felt bad.
Was he frustrated because of what Lamont said to him today? She gently got off the bed and hugged him from behind.
She nuzzled his back and said, “William, I’m sorry that I made you sad today! I apologize for Uncle Saunders’s accusations! I’m sorry!”
He threw the cigarette butt away and put his hand over hers. “There’s no need to apologize!”
“I have to! I know how you feel right now. It must be miserable to be accused like that when you’re innocent. I want you to know that no matter what happens or how others think of you, I will always stand up for you. I can’t control other people’s thoughts, but I know that you’re the best for me! You’re the only person I can rely on!”
Hearing her soft voice, he smiled. With her assurance, all his effort and patience were worth it. Then, he turned around to hug her. “I know baby, let’s go to sleep!”
When they went back to bed, she cuddled in his arms, and he patted her gently. While sleeping in his arms, she felt like that was the safest place on earth where she had no worries or thoughts. Happiness was all she felt.
Valeria slowly fell asleep again, and William lowered his head to kiss her on the forehead.
He said softly, “Good night! My baby!”
At noon the next day, Gavin traveled from Ruthorham to B City and stayed in the Wolf Group’s hotel.
He didn’t come quietly. Instead, he went to Wolf Group’s hotel with great fanfare. After staying in his room for a while, he called Hayden.
Hearing that Gavin had come to B City, Hayden wasn’t going to ignore him. He immediately summoned his sons to the Wolf Group hotel to treat Gavin to a meal.
William was a little surprised when he received Hayden’s call. Why did Gavin come to B City?
Gavin had arranged for people to investigate Valeria last time. Did he find out her true identity?
No matter what, he would go see him today and figure out his intentions.
By the time William arrived at the Wolf Group, Hayden, Charles, and the others had already arrived. They were chatting in a private room.
Upon William’s arrival, Gavin eyed him up and down.
He knew that William was good-looking, but he hadn’t seen him in a while, so he felt that William had changed a lot.
His looks and manners were much better than before. If it weren’t for the things that happened in the past, he would be very willing to let Valeria marry William.
After all, he had seen her photos. She was as beautiful as a fairy, so she was the perfect match for William.
Seeing Gavin eyeing him, William greeted him politely. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Saunders!”
“William, come sit next to me!” Gavin smiled and beckoned him over.
William walked to his side and sat down. “You are getting more handsome by the day! Do you have a girlfriend?”
