“I hate that guy. I hate him!”
Was the first thing I heard of Hannah. The two-week break ended so suddenly and here I am, back to reality again. She’s been this miserable these past few months, I notice.
And I forgot! I had actually planned something about this but it went all away because of my business.
“I don’t like him anymore. And I swear if I see him I’m gonna kill him.” She was harshly stabbing her notebook, drawing a figure of a boy and stabbing it.
“What-” I was about to ask but stopped. Better not get in her mood. I just sat quietly in my chair beside her and minded my own business, checking up at Hannah every now and then to see if she’s still herself.
“He’s such a cheater. We’re not even together but he still cheats! I can’t believe it, I can’t take it anymore! He’s so obnoxious-He’s such a player-he’s such a handsome jerk! Ugh!” I hear her mumbling to herself.
Him? Hmm. There’s only one person I could think of right now that fills that personality.
“Goodmorning!” A voice exclaimed. And just in time, it was Leroy, speaking of the devil. He saw us and he smiled goofily, heading our way.
“Hey, guys!”
Hannah froze at that.
Uh uh, this is not good…
I gave Leroy signs not to go here but the idiot has this confusion written in his eyes and even provoked her more to come. I facepalmed myself.
This is it. This is the end. Please save me.
“Hey Snow! How’s your break?” He said, sitting beside me. To my left, was Hannah, still freezing. I nudged her if she’s still alive, thank goodness she is.
I turn to my right. “So fun. Hehe,” I answered sarcastically. Yeah, besides studying and doing a lot of homework, it was fun!
He beamed. “Me too.”
My eyes widened. With that, I quickly grabbed his shirt and dragged him in a corner, away from Hannah.
“You! How dare you! Don’t you just come here with that goofy smile as if nothing happened!” I whisper yelled to him, glancing at Hannah if she heard it.
“What are you talking about?” Leroy asked.
“I don’t even know what happened! See that?” I pointed to Hannah’s sad state, “I have a guess, and it’s concerning to you!”
“Why am I dragged in this?”
I facepalmed again. This guy, he can get away goofing around but not with my friend!
“You know what? Everything around you is a joke for you! Can you be that unaware of everything?”
He didn’t even notice Hannah’s feelings. I’m sure he hurt her emotionally.
“Unaware?” He still doesn’t get it.
I huffed. “Fine. This is the cross of my line. Everything is beyond my control. Both of you are the ones who can only fix this. So go and apologize to her!” I pushed Leroy towards Hannah and cheered in the background.
With Hannah, being too shy to confess, and Leroy being too dumb to notice, will they even get progress?
Honestly, if only I hold their story… one confession, and bam, they are together! Yehey, The end. Happy Ending! But no, the reality is here.
All I could do was to say in the background, ‘Soon, in the Lennah loveteam! Tune in for more!’
That’s right. This is a friend’s job, to guide them in the right direction.
I watched as Leroy approached Hannah. The closer he got, the more Hannah avoided him. They continued this for a minute when finally Leroy spoke up, “Hi Hannah! Uhm… I’m sorry?”He said. But, it was a question.
Gosh, can he put more sincerity to it? Well, he doesn’t know why he’s apologizing in the first place so it’s only natural.
Hannah stood up and dashed off. Leroy stood up also and was about to follow her also when I stopped him.
“Let her. For now, let her be alone. Apologize to her when she finally calmed down.” I said to him.
“What was I apologizing for again?”
I hit him. “That’s for you to find out.”
“Ow!” He groaned in pain.
By the way, where the hell is Emma now when I need her? That girl…
The teacher finally arrived after a while. And Hannah still hasn’t come back. Oh my… I feel like watching a real-life romantic drama. I could grab some popcorn for now..
“Class dismissed. Time for lunch, class.”
As soon as the class was dismissed for lunch, I bolted in a flash and went to find Hannah.
“Hi, beautiful.” I heard Luke say at our doorway. I just pushed past him and brushed him aside, “Sorry Luke! I’m on a mission!”
“Pushing me? Did you even miss me?” I heard him sobbing but I just continued running through the hallway, with the feeling of everyone’s eyes on me.
I went to the girls’ comfort room. No sign of her. To the classrooms. No sign. Failing, I just went to the cafeteria. I spotted the squad’s table and I headed there.
The squad was not complete though. Only Luke and Eion were there. “Where’s Hannah?” I asked, panting like crazy. I looked at Luke. He shrugged. “Don’t know.”
I raised my eyebrows at him, “You’re his brother, how could you not know?”
He shrugged “It’s not like I follow her everywhere.”
“But can you sense her through blood? Siblings have that right?”
“It’s not like we are twins. Or animals.”
I just sighed. I turned to Eion to ask him but he shrugged in reply.
“Then where is she?” I asked in frustration. “She didn’t attend the two classes I had with her. And I searched everywhere. She’s still missing!”
I turned to Luke again. “Did something happen when you were at your family gathering?”
“I don’t know. I was busy thinking of you.” I glared at his comment. “Chill, Snow. But yesterday she just kinda got strange…”
“Just as I thought..”
I’m sure it’s Leroy’s fault. Maybe Hannah saw him off somewhere flirting around with girls or dating…
Poor Hannah… why did she even fall to that idiot who’s so insensitive!
I feel like exploding from range. I looked around. “Where’s Leroy?”
“He said he’ll go look for something..” Luke said. Something? Is it Hannah?
“And Dax? Emma?”
Luke just smiled slyly, while Eion stopped eating. Simultaneously, as though controlled by someone, they raised their hands and pointed behind me. Frowning, I turned to follow their line of sight.
It was the two! Emma and Dax! But my forehead creased in confusion when the both of them headed here, Dax smiling so happily while holding food for two, and Emma laughed at what he said.
I didn’t leave my eyes until they both sat beside each other and continued on talking. We three just gaped at them in shock, not speaking at each other. There was an awkward silence.
“What?” Dax asked when he finally sensed us.
“What just happened?” It was me first who managed to croak out.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Dax grinned. “We’re now in a relationship, duh!”
Luke rubbed templed in confusion. “But what happened to those fights and bickering? It was not long ago…” He trailed off.
“People change. Emma can’t take my oozing charm. She loves me back all along.”
“Shut up.” Emma chuckled. I stared at her and caught her gaze. I cocked an eyebrow. She just shrugged in reply.
“Is this really happening? Not too long ago you just told me that you hate him?” I said to her.
“What about you? You just promised that you don’t need a man, right? You said, ‘This queen doesn’t need a king'” She quoted, mimicking my voice.
The squad burst into laughter.
She’s right. Who am I to judge? Even me, I have Luke now…
I just smiled bitterly. I should be happy then…
But somehow, after this two-week break, I feel like we’re separating.
Physically, we’re there but… emotionally and spiritually… I don’t know anymore. It’s like our bonds just broke.
Hannah on the verge of being crazy, and Emma changing into someone I don’t know. They’ve been secretive to me lately.
I guess people really change. Even a particularly coldest robot in the world is no exception.
I glanced at Eion, who’s now opening up quite a little as he now smiles and chuckles every now and then.
