It looks like I left them in shock as their mouths are wide open and their jaw-dropping to the ground, I quickly headed to the cafeteria and sat at the Squad’s table.
Woo, that was quick. Like they said, Time is gold. So lunchtime is gold. And the minutes I had entertained those girls were wasted, psh, what a waste.
Beside me, Hannah was smiling. Smiling. It was not a trick of the light or sorcery. With that, my confusion just got more terrible. I thought she was mourning like someone just died?
“Snow? Why are you staring at me like that?” Hannah asked, breaking me with my thoughts with her smile didn’t waver.
My mouth just dropped. Seeing my expression, she chuckled.
“Huh? I thought someone just died, you were merely speaking just yesterday!” I exclaimed in shock.
“Who? me? C’mon, snow, you’re getting delusional, let’s just eat.” I just sighed. So much for playing detective and figuring things out on my own.
“NEVER!” A voice glowered from beside us. We turn to see Emma sitting and huffing, her face red as a tomato and glaring at the table.
Dax joined in, chuckling. “But you just lose, Emma. Admit it.”
My eyebrows furrowed even more. “Uhm, What is now happening again?”
“He lost!”
“She lost!”
They both exclaimed. Emma glared at Dax, smoke puffing in her ears. “I won!”
“No, it was very clear. You got 47, I got 48.”
Emma got quiet at this, her cheeks blushing. “Well, it was just one point! And you cheated!”
At this, my ears perked up, forming a theory at the reason for their bickering.
“What’s the point by the way?” Hannah asked.
“We made a bet. The person who got a higher score in our exam will have the opportunity to get what he wants, while the loser will have to listen to the winner’s requests.” Dax explained. ” And I won!”
So that explains why the sudden genius and studying of Emma these past days. She was getting ready for this. And she just lost.
Oh, now they are problem solved. The first couple, check. Next, the second couple. I blocked out the noise and turned to my other best friend who was staring at the cute couple in front of us.
But something is missing. Oh… Leroy.
“Where’s Leroy?” I blurted out, stopping the bickering couple in front of me.
Hannah’s eyes widen at the mention of his name. Just as I expected. Maybe they also made a bet? No. Or, they just got into a fight? An argument?
Hannah averted her eyes to the ground. “I don’t know.”
Fidgeting, she cleared her throat and looked straight at me. “You, Snow. Where’s Luke?”
She changed the topic. How fast the tables have turned. Well, well, well…
It is a sign. Really. What really really happened to these two? I’m dying to know.
A big light bulb formed in my head. Oh no, how could I forget! Maybe Luke has an idea! They’re siblings for goodness sake.
With this, I can’t fight the urge to smile so widely. “Oh, nothing new. Everything is still the same.” I smiled brightly.
“Where is he by the way?” She asked, looking left and right.
As if on cue, my phone chimed. A message from Luke.
Hey^_^Mrs. Johnson won’t let us leave till now. Eat already and don’t wait for me. Don’t miss me that much;)
I rolled my eyes. Lately, he’s been very busy, but I’m not complaining. It gives me enough time to hatch my evil plan. Just enough time.
Remembering my plan, I started to type.
I’ll wait outside ur room.
I stood up from the table. “Where are you going?” Hannah asked.
“To wait for Luke,” I responded, and she just nodded.
I marched to the way where Luke’s class is, feeling like in a fashion walkway. After skipping a few steps down the halls, I reached it.
When a few minutes had passed, finally the door slammed open and students started to file out, ready to escape from Mrs. Johnson’s clutch before she changed her mind.
I stood aside to let them come out and avoid getting crushed.
I spotted a familiar sweep of blonde hair, cascading down to her shoulders brightly. I narrowed my eyes to see clearly. It was Ember, looking troubled and searching for something in her backpack while hanging it on her shoulders.
So… she has classes with Luke. Still not spotting Luke, I cleared my throat and was about to call her when someone beat me to it and called out from among the crowd. “Em!”
I glanced at the source. It was… Leroy?
“Oh, Leroy. What’s up?” I heard her say, fidgeting with her bag, still finding something in a rush.
“You forgot your notebook.” Leroy then handed Ember a small blue notebook. Her face lit up and heaved a relieved smile.
“Thanks, I thought I lost it.” She thanked him and started to walk away.
“And Em?” Leroy called out again, which made Ember turn around. “Yes?”
“At my house tomorrow. After class. Don’t forget.” Leroy winked, and Ember giggled. “Absolutely.” Ember walked away after this, with Leroy following at her foot.
My mouth dropped open to the ground, with my eyes so wide it bulged out of the sockets. Yes, there’s no doubt that this hallway and the class of Mrs. Johnson surely is very noisy, with my fellow students clattering, bumping, and stomping the ground it is certainly, very certainly not quiet.
And yet, with my flabbergasted expression, the noise around seemed to not affect me at all. What just happened? And did he just call her Em? A nickname? So, is this the reason why Hannah was so miserable? I’m gonna kill him.
Finally, I caught sight of Luke emerging from the door. He was discussing something with a girl. With her flawless skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, there’s no denying the fact that she’s beautiful.
After saying a few final words to each other, the two ended their conversation. When he finally spotted me, he walked towards me and winked, pointing to his partner who was walking away towards the hallway.
“Who was that?” I couldn’t help but ask him, suddenly feeling a bit weird. Wait, am I getting jealous? No way!
“See? I warned you, I have a beautiful partner.” He wiggled his eyebrows at the word beautiful.
I grit my teeth in annoyance. I’m not jealous, and I’m not angry at him. But to his player friend. And adding up with his suggestive jokes, I could feel steam emerging out in my head. With Dax bickering my friend, with Leroy playing girl’s hearts, and this idiot Luke making me jealous.
There is one thing I would like to say. I sighed, before yelling, “I’m gonna kill you three!”
