THEME: Who betrayed who?
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE BORDER: IN THE NIGHT
Liam geared himself up, making a head signal to his men as Jayden and Juno walked in. He grinned to himself of his plans on how he intends to eliminate them. There was nothing much to do to Jayden again cause he looked really weak and might collapse if pushed for too long. The wobbling in his legs was beginning to look more obvious.
“Are you ready?” Liam nodded at them.
Jayden thinned his lips in a painful way. “I am as long as you are. Thanks for doing this on my behalf, Liam.”
“Anything for a friend.” Liam grinned.
Juno glanced around, gulping hard as her eyes landed on Jayden who seem to be in a deep conversation with Liam. He was looking extremely weak and it bothered her. When Juno had asked if he was feeling some sort of pain, Jayden had said no, but staring at him from afar he looked really sunken.
Putting her mind off him for a while, Juno thought about herself and the trouble she has gotten herself into. She hoped fervently that the Rogues would be quick with whatever they had to do and she could pretend not to know anything about them evading the Fortress.
The moment they stepped out, Juno was more surprised at the number of people heading towards the Fortress and she could approximate almost a hundred of people. It amazed her, since they weren’t going for war exactly but just a chance to kidnap Lorelei and step back out. She was beginning to sense some foul play.
Juno made her way towards Jayden and she pulled him aside. “Why do you need so much armed men to get into the Fortress?” She inquired. “We are using the secret passage so we don’t need this much people for an abduction.” She added quickly.
Jayden released himself from her grip with a weak and irritable look on his face. “Aren’t you a warrior? Don’t you know how vigilant and at alert the warriors of the Fortress are? Do you want them to be caught off guard if their defense is weak?”
“But that route they are taking does not need this much presence I can assure you.” Juno insisted.
“They are helping us out, Juno. So, whatever they feel is needed to carry out a successful kidnap then so be it.” He said with finality in his tone.
Juno decided to keep quiet, knowing it would be better to not argue with him so he won’t be pissed at her. Her eyes kept darting towards Liam and his men. They were acting really shady but she couldn’t pinpoint it. Juno hoped they have no intention of hurting Jayden cause she might never be able to recover if anything happened to him.
“Alright people, we are all set! Remember the mission, no slacking please.” Liam announced. “And you all have the map ingrained in your heads I believe.” He directed at his men.
“Yes boss!” The men yelled in response.
“Are you ready for this Jayden?” Liam asked.
“I have been waiting for this day to come!” Jayden affirmed.
“Let’s do this then!” Liam said as they made their way towards the Fortress all in their wolf forms in order to make it easier for them to arrive at their destination just in time. But they had their clothes tied to their forms with the intention of shifting back to their human forms the moment they are almost near the place.
It took Jayden an extremely long while before he was able to shift and when he did shift it felt like his bones were out of place. Jayden ignored it as he ran along with the others with Juno on his tail. The more they neared the Fortress, the more Jayden got weaker and Juno got more suspicious. Something didn’t feel right.
Few feet from reaching the Fortress space, they all shifted back and got themselves changed. The moment their legs stepped foot on the Fortress land, halogen lamps came on almost blinding their eyes. And in a minute the Rogues got surrounded by triple of their population.
Liam stared mouth agape in disbelief. “We are fucked!” He turned his angry eyes on Jayden. “Did you know about this?!”
Jayden looked around at the vicious faces glaring at them and in front of him was Jaylen, Sebastian and Rex with the floods of heads behind them. His face fell and there was no doubt that this was the end of the road for them.
“I know nothing about this…I promise.” Jayden defended himself.
“So, you fooled us to come get caught?!” Liam directed at Juno who had shamefully hid her face behind Jayden to avoid getting seen.
“She knows nothing about it. Juno, did you do this?” Jayden turned to her.
Juno already had tears in her eyes. “I swear…I swear it to you…I don’t know about it! I only took the map and came down to you…nothing else.” She stammered.
“Obviously someone had you trailed…you bitch!” Liam dragged her forward and held onto her neck tightly. “You should have been more careful!” He made a signal to five of his men and they grabbed Jayden too.
“I know nothing about this Liam!” Jayden defended.
Liam had a gun filled with silver bullets pointed at the two of them. He already knew there was no way to go into the Fortress anymore cause they were outnumbered and it would be foolish to keep up with the fight. So he decided to seek a redress for a way out.
“I and my men would be let off and I won’t have to kill your people!” Liam bargained.
Sebastian stepped forward as he stared at Liam oddly. “We don’t compromise with criminals! You should surrender now.”
Liam tightened his hold on Juno’s neck and his men did the same to Jayden who looked like he would collapse in a minute. “I have come a long way for this and I have protected my people for years. I won’t have you toss us around just because you think it is right. I won’t warn you again, back off or I would have these two people killed.”
Zeta Ragnak snorted at his threat. The two people already betrayed their homeland so they don’t deserve the Fortress protection anymore. The Zeta made a signal to his men to launch an attack. Liam caught sight of it and he pointed the gun to Jayden first. Jayden’s heart raced as blood rushed through his heart. His body wasn’t holding up well and he could feel himself slipping away.
Juno seeing Liam’s move, the only thing that came to her mind was ensuring Jayden wouldn’t die and without thinking she elbowed him in the side, pushed him off and jumped right in front of Jayden.
When Liam regained his balance, he double pulled the trigger immediately and two silver bullets penetrated her belly.
“No! Juno!” Jayden yelled as she collapsed to the ground. Juno had blood dripping profusely through her mouth.
Jayden’s eyes became blurry and as if he was being drugged on spot, his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he lost consciousness.
