EPISODE HUNDRED AND EIGHT
THEME: He isn’t wrong
BETA JULIUS HOME
Hazel watched as Lorelei moved around the room, trying to arrange everything she could lay her hands on and tears flowed heavily as she kept moving around. Her heart went out to her daughter, as much she would love to tell her to go with Jaylen, Lorelei was right about not leaving the Fortress. There was no way she would be able to stand the attention everyone would direct at her. It might sound harsh, but Lorelei was too attached to the Fortress to leave.
“Is there something we are suppose to do?” Julius asked behind her.
His head was still spinning from the whole drama at the pack house. Things was going really out of hand and it seemed uncontrollable. No matter how much he tries to get a grasp of it, it still ends in everything tumbling right back.
“She would be fine. It might take a long while though. You should excuse us honey.” Hazel responded.
“Sure.” Julius sounded reluctant to leave.
Hazel waited for Lorelei to be a bit calmer before saying anything. “Sit down baby.” She advised.
Lorelei blinked persistently before slumping into the bed with her shaky hands as she tried to control her unsteady breath.
“Why would he do that mom? Does he not love me enough to stay back?!” She wailed.
Hazel heaved a sigh as she stood up to sit next to her. “I know this might seem hard on you baby, but you won’t be able to understand how hard this is for Jaylen. I am sorry to say this but you are just as selfish as everyone of you clamoring for Jaylen to stay back.”
Lorelei seem shocked at the words coming from her mother. “Is that what you think about me? I love him mom and you know this isn’t about me.”
“I am sorry if I sound harsh baby, but it is the bitter truth. I would say it again, you all wanting Jaylen to stay back are selfish and inconsiderate. I know you do love him, but do you think he doesn’t love you?”
“But he still went back to Chicago.” She countered.
“Come on, Lorelei, think beyond this box of yours baby. Try to envision how overwhelming it must be for the poor guy. All his life he had, had to deal with being bullied by his own brother. To avoid causing further trouble or pain to anyone he moved far away. Jaylen would definitely have never returned to this Fortress if his father didn’t fall sick. None of them were ready to go to him and find a way out to make him feel wanted in the family. Now, for the first time he is going against everyone’s wish to do what he feels right about at the moment but you all are calling him inconsiderate.”
“Isn’t that what he is?” Sebastian said from the door as he walked further into the room.
Hazel chuckled. “It is you all who are being inconsiderate. And I am so not wrong.”
Lorelei put a loose hair strand behind her ear. “But the Moon Goddess has ordered for him to stay. Him refusing to stay back would result in doom for not just everyone of us but him. He should have at least considered that too!”
“You must really think the Goddess is a fool.” This time hazel boomed loudly with laughter.
Lorelei and Sebastian shared a look, wondering what was going on in their mother’s head. Hazel hardly talks for a long while but when she does it is always for very reasonable thoughts. Deciding the talk would go for a reasonable long while, Sebastian took a seat next to his sister.
“Stop acting like a playwright mom, just tell us what is running through your head already.” Sebastian muttered.
Hazel calmed herself down. “See, the Moon Goddess doesn’t do something without a reason. She had chosen Jaylen because she knows what is best for not just him but everyone of us in the Fortress. You can’t expect him to accept these responsibilities you are shoving down his throat all because of a story that might be fabricated by everyone to keep him around.”
“Why would anyone want to do that? It is an obvious action that had taken place when he shifted right in front of us all.” Sebastian argued.
“Don’t say that baby, you aren’t in his place. You could do worse. Jaylen had never been interested in Fortress issues from the very beginning and it wasn’t hidden to anyone. How on earth do you expect him to take these duties because he is suppose to? He needs time.”
“He won’t come back mom.” Lorelei wailed
“Come here.” Hazel motioned at her. “You believe in fate don’t you?” Lorelei nodded her head slowly. “So trust the Moon Goddess to work everything out between you both. You look fagged, you should rest.”
It took a bit of persuading from Hazel and Sebastian to convince Lorelei to take some rest. She eventually lay in bed and dozed off in no time.
“How do you think the Luna is at the moment?” Sebastian asked his mother as they both walked down the stairs together.
Hazel shrugged. “She needs to be alone at the moment. As much as we can serve as a shoulder, she wouldn’t want to see any of us at this point.”
They both settled into different couches in the living room. Julius was also there staring into space. Soon Hazel stood up to sit next to her husband. “Come here honey.” She pulled his head close to her blossom and he rested on it taking in a deep breath.
“I wonder how Meagan is coping with all of this. I can sense trouble looming baby, this won’t end well.” Julius muttered.
Hazel kissed his hair as she rubbed his arm. “When we get to that bridge we would surely cross it. It isn’t necessary to figure it all out now.”
“Mom is right dad.” Sebastian added. “This situation is obviously out of our control at the moment so would have to wait and see.”
Julius nodded in agreement as he leaned further into his wife’s embrace. He tried to hold back the tears that was threatening to fall. He missed Carl so much that it was beginning to hurt. Watching his best friends children tear at each other over an inheritance, it made him really bothered about the future. He felt sorry for Meagan the more. It was at this moment she needed her family the most. However the family has been torn apart and choosing sides. Meagan’s siblings aside the parents had gone with Jaylen. He wish there was something he could do to help her out but his hands were a bit to tight over the situation.
Beta Julius heaved a sigh. He hoped the Moon Goddess would surely figure a way out.
