EPISODE HUNDRED AND ONE
THEME: A better place
MOON STONE FORTRESS
An eerie feeling permeated the air of the entire room as Meagan walked in. Her sisters had asked her to come sleep in their rooms but she had insisted on wanting to sleep in the room she had shared with her husband and mate instead.
Meagan felt some hot tears burn down her cheeks as she walked towards the bed refusing to put the light on. She stumbled against the bed frame and it made the tears fall harder. Resting her butt on the edge of the bed, Meagan gripped the sheets hard as she felt her heart tear out.
The memories she and Carl had shared in the room haunted her. His laughters echoed in the room and Meagan could hear his teases in her ear. The night she had got married to him came back to her like it was just yesterday.

(FLASHBACK TO TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO)
(MOON STONE PACK)
Carl slumped into the bed grinning widely as Meagan walked towards him with a relaxed gait.
“Come here mama.” He beckoned to her.
Before responding to him, Meagan pulled off the wedding dress she had on her body leaving just her panties and bra on. Carl’s eyes shone at her beautiful sight, especially with her tiny baby bump that made her glow tremendously.
She climbed onto him and left him hooked in between her spread thighs. “We are married.” Meagan whispered.
“Finally.” Carl chuckled as he raised himself up to caress her body well.
They kissed passionately and the both of them moaned into each other’s mouth as their hands rubbed themselves. Carl flicked her nose as they gave each other a breathing space.
“Thanks so much for agreeing to be mine baby. I promise to try my very best to be almost a near perfect husband and mate to you.”
Meagan placed her forehead against his as she smiled widely. “I don’t doubt any of your promise. I promise to be a diligent wife as much as I can too.”
Carl held out his pinky finger. “So till death do us part.”
Meagan crossed her fingers with his finger as she cooed. “Till death do us part.”

(THE PRESENT DAY)
After some minutes of going down the memory lane, the whole duvet was soaked with Meagan’s tears. How she didn’t break down in front of the rest of the family was a big flex on her part. Meagan had promised herself to hold it down till she was left alone. Sitting up, Meagan leaned against the bed frame and hugged her legs to herself. Now that Carl was no more everything scared her.
Even though there had been discussions on the possibilities of the things that would happen after his death, it still feels almost too much for her to carry. Seeing how Jayden had acted recently with his brother being involved with Lorelei, it had become obvious that things would really go haywire if nothing was done on time.
Alpha King Carl Damien was to be buried the next day as he had requested before his death, and not just that, the new Alpha was to be crowned the very next day.
Meagan shut her eyes tightly to stop the tears from flowing further after it dawned on her that crying won’t solve a thing. She has to stay strong and ensure that her husband’s legacy and all of their hard work would not destroyed.
“Carl!” Meagan whispered into the dark room. “I know you can hear me baby, please stay by my side. I have no idea if I am strong enough to withstand all of this baby. But I know I can do this if you are here close to me.” She sniffed.
A strong chilled air hit her and it ended up giving her goosebumps. Meagan shivered knowing that it wasn’t just her in the room anymore and that Carl had kept to his promise of coming to her whenever she needed him. And it only made more tears drop down from her face at the thought of never seeing him again for the rest of her life.
Meagan felt really lonely. Despite being surrounded by her family and children, it still felt cold. Carl had been her confidant and shield for the past twenty five years and she had gotten so dependent on him. But now he was no more and she has to get used to living life without him.
Meagan could feel her throat was itchy and she felt thirsty too. She checked on the bed side drawer but there was no water pitcher there anymore like it used to when Carl was alive. The maids must have cleared it out. Standing up groggily, Meagan checked the mini fridge in the room but there was just juice packs and no single bottle of water. Meagan decided to just head down to the kitchen to get water. She dragged herself lazily towards the hallway.
Meagan ignored some the guards trying to ask if she needed any help. The kitchen lights had been switched off since no one was there. When Meagan switched the light on, she almost let out a shrill cry. There was no way she would have thought anyone would be in there in the dark.
On the floor was her son, Jayden looking so lost in thought. He was seated in one corner of the large room with his hands stretched out on his folded legs as he stared into space.
“Jayden.” Meagan called out as she moved to seat next to him. “Why are you seated here in the dark baby?” She asked.
Jayden leaned into his mother without saying a word. He had tears in his eyes as they touched his mother’s cloth. Knowing why he was in such mood, Meagan didn’t bother to ask him again as she caressed his hair gently.
“We would be fine baby, I promise.” She cooed.
Jayden sniffed. “He appeared too full of life to die at such early stage. I can’t believe he is not here anymore.” His gasps mounted.
Meagan had a sad smile on her face as she listened to her son. As much as people saw her Jayden as cold hearted and distant, she knows deep within herself and being his mother that he was just as human and softhearted as she was. Jayden just has a way of keeping his emotions at bay, which was why she felt a bit hopeful that he and his brother, Jaylen might be able to reconcile and work together. But at the same time she knew that was a wishful thinking.
“Your father is in a better place.” Her voice was shaky as she said those words to him.
Jayden sat up abruptly and turned towards her. He cupped her face in his hands and caressed her cheeks. “Have you been crying mom? Your face is swollen.”
Meagan held onto his hand. “I will be fine baby.”
“Why are you here in the kitchen?” He asked.
“I came to get myself some water.” She replied.
Jayden stood up almost immediately and headed towards the fridge to get a bottle of water. He grabbed a glass and poured the water into it.
“Here you go mom.” He handed the glass over to her.
Meagan took the glass from his hand and drank all of the content. “Thanks baby. Shouldn’t you return to bed now? You seem like you need some rest.”
Jayden nodded his head in agreement as he rubbed at his temples. “You need to rest too mom. Come here.” He called out. He held on to her hands and pulled her up to her feet. “I will walk you back to your room.”
After Jayden helped his mother to her room, she bid him good night. Meagan heaved a loud sigh into the bed as she hoped that Jayden would still be caring towards her by the end of tomorrow.
