Surprise lighted Sia’s face when she planted her feet into their room. Lucas didn’t only give it the best decoration with the help of one of the workers but he already served different cuisines on the bed.
The aroma wafted into Sia’s nostrils and her stomach unabashedly grumbled. She held her gaped mouth with the palm of her hands, trying to stifle the grin tearing its way out.
She thought Lucas came to unpack their loads but this is way more than she had expected. Lucas circled around and clasped her waist from behind, resting his chin on her right shoulder.
“You did all these?” Sia asked, still finding it difficult to believe Lucas. Her eyes kept wandering until they landed on a small, red velvety box in the tray.
Her heart skipped a beat. She downed the thickness in her throat and mouthed his name. “Lucas…”
Sia inclined her head aside as Lucas trailed kisses on the column of her neck. Chills break out on her skin.
Fuck! Lucas definitely has her remote control. Unclasping his hand from her waist, he plodded it to her stomach, cleavage, and up to her neck before dipping his hand into his pocket.
Lucas brought out a necklace that has ‘sun’ as its pendant. Crossing it over her head, he let it rest on her chest and clasped the hook at the back.
Sia looked down and glimpsed the pendant, hoisting it up, she twirled the pendent with her fingers.
Hunkering low to her ear level, Lucas whispered. “Do you remember what I told you two nights before our sudden separation six years ago?”
His raspy voice hit Sia’s ears. Her heart began hammering faster in the wall of her chest.
*
Panting hard, they both dropped on the bed, sweat trickling down their faces and skin. Lucas haven’t gotten enough yet so he cupped Sia’s breast again and knit her nipple with his mouth, sucking it again to trigger Sia’s mood.
“I’m already sore…” Sia nagged, her smiles still etched on her face.
“Are you? You can’t really blame me, I can’t have enough of you.” He spouted, locating Sia’s lips. Clamping on it with his, he kissed her hard it hurt.
“I’ve a special gift for you.” He told her, triggering Sia’s curiosity.
She propped up on her elbow, flashing her eyes at him.
“Where is it?” She questioned, getting dizzy with excitement.
Letting out a chuckle, he responded. “it’s not done yet. Don’t worry you’ll see it soon.”
*
Of course, Sia remembers. The last two nights they spent together before the breakup is just as beautiful as the other days and nights they’ve spent together.
Lucas rounded her and assembled in front of her, peering down at her. “I wanted something that’d prove you’re a light in my life since the death of my parents.” He said, taking her face in his hands.
“It was like I was caught in a dark tunnel with no hope. Their accident shattered me from the very moment it happened to the day they were buried.” He took in a breath. Sia raised her eyes to meet his as he spouted.
“I lost my senses. When I lived with my granny, she knew how it weigh on her much less me. Then she had to make me meet a therapist so it wouldn’t affect my mental health. I did. And for years since I was seventeen I visited the therapist. Nothing exceptional happened though it helped. But since the day you came into my life, I found the love I lost in my mother in you. Her care, attention, everything was packaged in you. You know why?” He asked.
Sia thinned her lips and shook her head. “’cause I was closer to my mum. My dad is good too, but when it comes to sharing secrets, I related with my mum.” He blew out a long breath of air and it fanned Sia’s face.
“So I wanted something that can prove to you, you’re my light at the end of a dark tunnel. There are some broken pieces of me you brought back together unknowingly. When we broke up, I was broken. I was an empty shell. I couldn’t bring myself to hold this necklace because I lost that light. I lost you.”
Lucas combed his hand through her hair, his mouth hovering over hers as he spoke. “But now I’ve retrieved that light. I rushed to the jeweler two days before we embarked on this trip and requested for this necklace. Luckily, he shelved it somewhere safe. He told me ‘I knew that someday, the light will return’. So, Sia, I want you to have this with you. A proof you light my world. You brighten my day.”
He canoodled her cheeks with his thumb, looking at her with eyes flooded with emotions. A grin plucked at Sia’s lips hearing Lucas’s words.
“I…” She exhaled, her cheeks flushing. “Don’t know what to say…” A tear slipped down her eye.
‘He deserves to know the truth.’ Her inner voice whispered. Sia’s eyes stung but she bite back the tears. Lucas is just…everything she wants in a man. Sia knew this from the day he set his eyes on her.
He’s everything. She knows he’d make a good father if their child was alive. But no, it’s gone and she can’t begin to narrate that dark experience to him.
She can’t begin to tell him how dark her days were during the pregnancy. She can’t begin to tell him how she desperately looked forward to the day her ray of hope will come. She can’t begin to tell him how she lost it for good.
She can’t begin to tell him how her world turned darker than it ever was when Celine said those words.
“You lost the baby.”
One of the two words that turned her world darker. But Sia’s mind is pushing her to say it. She’s conflicted. So confused on what measure to take. On how to relate this to Lucas.
‘We had a baby and it died the night I gave birth to her.’ She memorized the words in her head but she can’t verbalize it.
It’s too heavy.
The cries of her baby blared in her ears. A sweet, melodious cries. Her restrained tears started running down her cheeks in frenzy.
Lucas was surprised. ‘What’s making her cry?’ He mused and huddle her head on his chest.
“Baby, I’m sorry I’m rushing you…”
“No, no, Lucas. You’re…” She regarded him from over her watery lashes. “The best thing that’s ever happened to me. I feel like some broken parts of me have been pieced together.”
She rushed her words so Lucas wouldn’t think otherwise.
“Baby, you’re too. You fucking are…” Pulling her back a smidge, he descended his lips on hers, nipping on it, taking her breath away.
Sia raked her fingers through his hair and leaned backward for him to take over her. To kiss her to oblivion. Their breaths collided when their noses came in contact.
Lucas stuck his tongue out and knit it with Sia’s, dueling it against hers. Sia crumbled into a rag in his hands as he stole her breaths while nipping on her lips.
“I need you…” He said, voice gruff with desire.
Shaking her head, she mouthed, “I need you too.”
And at that response, Lucas unzipped her dress, the metallic hissing of the zip lanced through the quiet room and the air around them became thick.
He let the dress fall down to her ankles and raked his eyes down her body and her chill-coated tits.
He cursed under his breath as he spotted her pebbled nipples, staring pointedly at him.
Sia was hyper-aware of what her presence does to him, hence she trailed her hand to her tits, rubbing it and biting on her lips, in a concupiscent manner.
She needs to wipe thoughts about their dead flesh and blood from her mind and this is the only way out.
Assembling her thumbs around her pebbled nipples, she rubbed them gently, moaning to his hearing.
Lucas watched her, touching herself. His desire building up. His cock swelled as need consumed his rational senses.
“You like it?” She asked him with a wink.
