It was barely 8:00 in the morning when Estrella skittered into the Monson villa, yelling Sia’s name.
Sia’s call at midnight made her worry to gnaw her heart that’s why she rushed here as soon as she can. When Michelle approached her, she asked hastily.
“Where is Sia?” Estrella was panting heavily consequent to how she hastened to the villa.
“She just went up to her room,” Michelle answered.
Estrella gave her a quick nod and staggered to the flight of stairs and to Sia’s room. She didn’t knock but barged in speedily, startling Sia from her shallow slumber.
“Jesus you just scared me,” Sia grumbled before relapsing on her pillow again. Estrella closed in on her and scanned her body for any wounds.
“Were you hurt?” The urgency in her voice proved to Sia how much her friend cares. She twisted her head at Estrella and plopped her head back on the pillow.
This time, her eyes faced the ceiling.
“How did he come inside here?” Estrella asked, glancing around the room. The breeze flipped the thin white curtain that draped the door of the balcony when Sia looked at it.
“I’m guessing it’s from the balcony. I always leave the door open, which means the person knows too well and snuck in from there.” She spittle.
Estrella traveled her eyes back at Sia and ask.
“You don’t close your door? That’s risky considering you have enemies.” Her voice was high-pitched. Sia winced at the sound of it.
“All the years I’ve been in this villa, I never close the door!” Sia said spearing her hand throw her hair when she propped up from the pillow. “I leave it to allow some fresh air inside. You can’t blame me for wanting something natural. I mean, I love the blend of the cool breeze and the AC.”
Estrella sighed. “I understand but now you know you have enemies. So you should be careful and always shut the door.” She said.
While they were discussing, a light knock sounded at the ajar door. Sia allowed the person in and Michelle tottered in with a tray of mugs. Billows of streams sprang up from the mug and into the air.
“I made hot chocolate, Mrs. Monson. It’ll help lighten your mood.” She spewed as the set the tray on the coffee table by the window.
“Thanks, Michelle.” Sia and Estrella answered unanimously.
When Michelle left, Estrella gave one of the mugs to Sia and took the other. She blew air on the hot mug before taking a sip of the hot chocolate.
“Who do you suspect is behind this attack?” Estrella questioned. She stared at Sia from the rim of her mug for answers.
Sia gritted her teeth and kept her eyes locked with Estrella’s. “None other than the power thirst fool, Silas.”
Estrella sprang up from her seat in a haste hearing Sia’s words.
“That son of a bitch!!” She howled. Her updo hair loosened in the process. “How dare him!?” She yelled again.
Sia shrugged. “Silas can go to any measure just to take over the Monson family,” Sia said. “His last attempt failed and he came with a new measure.” She piled up.
“Wait a sec.” Estrella spilled, narrowing her eyes. “What was his last fruitless attempt?” she asked.
“Seduction.” Sia gushed.
Estrella plunked down on the couch, her gaze met Sia’s.
“Are you for real? He tried to seduce you? So he went to such levels? Omigod.” She facepalmed. “Girl, that guy is such a bitch. No offense but he really is.”
“I’m not offended. He’s never a friend or good brother-in-law. He’s a devil.” Sia gushed. “I already call for an emergency meeting this morning.”
“You did? That’s a good step!” Estrella said, clapping her hands.
“But it’s not going to be an easy peasy kinda thing. I know that devil and what he can do.” Sia said admittedly.
“Fuck him. I got your back babe. We’re going there together this morning.” Estrella rambled. Sia gave her a defeated glance before downing her drink.
“Your life is strange, Sia. Yes, you’ve a boudoir, cars, money, fame, power but the problems that comes with these are immeasurable.” She whispered, feeling sorry for Sia.
Sia simpered. That’s exactly what she always tell herself. Living a normal life without enemies and squabbles is a bliss. It’s a gold that very few attain in their lifetime. Unfortunately, Sia believes she’ll never afford that luxury.
That semblance of peace she craves is furthest from her lifetime, she assumes.
“My life has been a mess from day one. A total mess.” She drawled, quirking her brows. “I guess that’s how it’ll be for the rest of my life.”
Estrella shook her head at Sia’s negative words.
“Now that’s you being pessimistic. You always have to breathe positivity into your life no matter how fucking messed up it might seem, hear me?” She asked, pinching Sia’s cheeks.
With a short laughter, Sia whispered a ‘yes’ to her friend. When she peered at the time, she jumped off the couch and ran into the bathroom to shower and prepare for the meeting.
When she exited the bathroom, Sia dashed into her boudoir to select a dress. It didn’t take up to twenty minutes for Sia to finish prepping. They both hobbled downstairs.
However, Sia was on call, informing Liam of the change of plans with Perez Ltd and requested he cancels the meeting. Michelle offered them breakfast but Sia declined.
“We’ll eat out when done with the meeting.” She told Estrella and she nodded in agreement. Sia’s other driver took the wheel when they settled inside the car and drove into the street.
Hours passed by before they finally arrived at James’ stately Mansion. Before they stepped out of the car, Sia worded something to Estrella.
“Control your mouth, okay?” She said.
With an eye roll, Estrella whispered, “that’s if he doesn’t lie against you.” She twitched her shoulders in a shrug.
Sia nodded understandably and they alighted from the car. Their majestic steps attracted the maid’s and guards’ attention with its final admiration in James’ chambers.
All the elders bored their gaze at Sia especially. If she was a random girl, they’d have tried to woo her but no she’s Mrs. Monson.
Silas annoyingly stood up from his seat and send heated glares at Sia. The sounds of cracking bones drew everyone’s attention to him as he balled his hands into fist.
Fury dripped from his eyes. His mother was also fuming with anger since she heard about the emergency meeting. She flew from California to James’ house this morning just to meet up with the meeting.
“Hello, Silas,” Sia said sardonically as she took the head seat.
“Your wings have grown to the extent of calling for an emergency meeting.” She heard Silas’s mother pipe up.
Sia angled her head towards her and curl her lips in a disdainful grin.
“Of course. Especially after finding something uncommon.” She said.
The footfall resounding in the room made everyone plod their eyes in its direction. James assembled in the room, rolling his cold eyes in every direction before pausing on Sia’s face.
“Sia Monson.” He called and his cold voice startled Estrella. She has never heard such a dense voice before. It’s a bone-chilling voice.
James scooted closer and stopped behind Sia, holding the poles of the seat.
“State your reasons for calling for this meeting.” He croaked.
Everyone bored their eyes at Sia to hear her words.
Sia raised her finger and pointed it at Silas before the words slipped from her lips.
“Silas wants to kill me!” She exclaimed.
