Chapter Hundred and Seventy-Six – No way!
Chris’s POV
My legs worked fine again. And like so, the skies got brighter. I stretched on my bed.
Stability was returning to our world again. Or so I hope. As I left bed, I heard sounds in the courtroom.
The sounds reminded of the advice my sister gave me yesterday. I bet she was still on it.
The thing with having a broken hearted person in your midst was the person gave bad advices.
Vanessa was back to Black Hills, sent back by a Black Rose warrior. She wasn’t rejected by Jonah but wasn’t accepted either.
Her mate didn’t even want her close when he was mourning. And her reason was that he was in love with someone else.
What crazy things was he doing by being in love with someone who wasn’t his mate!
I didn’t want to address it just yet as they were in a mourning period but I’d surely talk about it soon.
“Did you even sleep?” I asked Vanessa, when I walked into the courtroom.
She faced me with droopy black eyes that answered my question. She didn’t.
“Black eyes don’t make you attractive so you better sleep.” I said, plopping down on my throne.
“Any bad news?” they seemed to be plenty going around. Logan hadn’t done anything since his last attack?
What was he waiting for?
Did Rihanna leave him in bad shape or he’s stalling, like usual, so we’d lose our guard and then he’d attack.
“Why aren’t you saying anything, Vanessa?” I got down to where she was sitting.
There were three letters in her hands, that weren’t around last night. They must have come in this morning. “From who?”
“Silver pack. Two from Red Moon.” She muttered, looking into my eyes like she’d seen a ghost.
She shouldn’t be so stunned that Red Moon sent me letters, I was in contact with them for our mother’s sake.
“Silver Pack and Red Moon letters are the same. Logan has a new weapon to use against us.” My sister shivered as she said each word.
Weapon? What now? I swiftly tore open Silver Pack’s letter. Their Alpha was quite to the point. I dropped it then exhaled.
So Red Moon’s use of sorcery has finally been used against us. A charm to drain energy from werewolfs to Lycans. It’s really plausible.
“Why did the hostages agree to this?”
“Their lives were at stake!” Vanessa yelled.
“They risked it, you mean! Now Logan’s done with the charm, doesn’t it mean all werewolfs on the face of the earth is doomed!” I yelled back.
She gulped down saliva and looked down. I didn’t understand that reaction, but I sighed.
I left my throne. “Those sorcery users deserve to die for risking the lives of all werewolfs. Even Ralph was killed by this method.”
My sister’s breathing became higher and higher. Was I tensing her up by what I said?
I stooped to her. “Vanessa? Is this about your mate? I’d handle him after all these are over…”
“The other letter. Red Moon’s other letter.” She mouthed. “Please, don’t tell me it’d end like Ralph.”
End like Ralph? What’s she saying?
As I attempted opening the letter, Sasha rushed into the courtroom. I snapped my head to her.
“Chris, I had a bad dream about Logan killing you! And it’s today! Look, if you re planning to meet Logan today, forget it!” she shouted.
What was wrong with these ladies around me?
Even Logan hasn’t made a move so I don’t know how to look for him.
“Sasha, return to the room. I don’t plan to meet Logan today.” I said calmly.
She looked terrified that it worried me. Her hair was scattered and her hands were etched in it like she was still in her scary dream.
“Go and stay with your friend before she goes crazy.” I told Vanessa in mind link.
“I’d probably go crazy before her. And she has a point. Logan attacked us, you might have to leave today.” Vanessa concurred.
And why was I not surprised that she sided with her best friend?
“Logan attacked but on Black Rose more. Did they go crazy?! The pack is mourning in peace. Why’d it be my pack that’d go crazy?”
“Chris, Red Moon sent us a letter. Logan just attacked us, as well.” Vanessa said to me.
Sasha turned to her and then at me. “What did that Lycan do now?”
I gazed at the letter in my hand. I hurried to open it. Logan attacked us? He made a move since Ralph’s death? How dare he!
My eyes ran through the lines and each word written on the letter.
Sheer fear gripped me and I held unto my throne for support. “Raymond!”
“What happened to Ray?” Sasha shook me.
“Logan has him! Logan has Ray!” Vanessa yelled. “I don’t know what he wants with him!”
Perhaps he needed him to test the product he made the Red Moon hostages create? That was how he killed Ralph!
No, he wasn’t getting my Beta as well. No way!
“I’m leaving immediately! Call Edwin!” I yelled at Sasha, then ran towards the door.
My Luna jumped in front of me. “No! This is exactly what I dreamt about, you’d go meet Logan and he’d kill you! No, you’re aren’t…”
I pushed her out of the way and she fell to the ground. “Don’t try to stop me. This is my Beta we are talking about here.”
“Even still, he might already been killed…”
“Sasha! Stop!” it was Vanessa. “Raymond grew up with us. How can you be so heartless!”
“What do you mean? So my husband and father of my child should die for him!” she cried.
Her tears didn’t move me, they never did. It was my duty to protect my pack. I was the Alpha.
“Sasha, he has to go and try first. He’d call the rest too, he’s not going alone!” Vanessa said.
My Luna held unto my leg, preventing me from leaving. “I’m not saying this out of love for you, but for my son. He needs his father.”
I shook her off my leg. “Ray is someone’s son too! So was Ralph! Stop being pathetic and be a Luna!”
Ray was too young to suffer such a fate now and if I can do anything to stop it, I will. How could he be killed in such demeaning manner!
What will I tell his mate? His parents! His sister!
I stomped out. “Vanessa, no one, even Cara, should know about this! And someone get me Edwin!” I didn’t spare Sasha a glance.
