Chapter Hundred and Thirty-Four – Who is it?
Chris’s POV
My Luna found it hilarious that I was leaving to the cave Logan was because of a rumor of a small demon.
I had a feeling I’d meet more than a small demon but not Logan. I didn’t feel I’d meet Logan.
Along with me came Ray’s relative and other warriors that had been worried about a demon.
I needed to show them that there was no demon so they need not fear.
“Ray, don’t!” I stretched my hand to block him. Incase of casualties, he should stay behind.
My Beta frowned, pushing my hand away but I brought it back up. “I said don’t come!”
“But I’m curious to see the demon too.” He protested.
“We’d catch it and bring it back, like we planned.” I said.
“Yeah, only that the ‘We’ was you and I, not you and the warriors.” He folded his arm.
I smiled at his sulky face. “Just stay, in case there’s something that needed my attention, stand in for me.”
He knew that was an excuse to make him stay, he threw down his horse whip and stormed back in. A warrior returned his horse to the stable.
I turned to the warriors, who’d been watching us. “As you saw and heard, if I don’t catch that demon today, I’d be in trouble.”
They laughed amongst themselves.
I gestured, “Let’s go!”
We began riding our horses gallantly across the forest, heading to the north of our pack.
My ears perked for any sound or fast paws hitting the ground. None came by.
We got to the site, marked by me, to be where the warrior camped while monitoring for energy around the cave.
It wasn’t close so they could easily run back to the pack if they sensed something coming.
“Alpha!” a warrior ran to me when I arrived.
“What is it? A small demon? Logan?” I enquired.
“Me!” I heard a lady’s voice behind the warrior.
My lips curled to a smirk. “Your Silver? What are you doing here?”
She was back to her jumping around, wasn’t she? Her hair was now tied in a bun and she wore dark non feminine clothes.
Shouldn’t she be hiding from Logan? Rather she’s here, close to his hideout.
“I came to check if you actually completed the reward. You did. Good job.” she commented.
Was I supposed to say thank you?
“You know I still have a second one, right?” she raised a brow.
I nodded.
“Good.” She sighed, then pointed at a mountain peak. “If you want to monitor Logan, you can view everything from far there.”
I followed her eyesight, so did my warriors.
“It will be safer there than at ground level with Logan. He’s fast and would catch them if he senses them.” She continued.
The warriors nodded, impressed. One of them made a small bow at her, she nodded and was walking away when I called her back.
“Tell me honestly, were you the small demon terrorizing everywhere?” I grew suspicious, she could be funny sometimes.
“Small demon? Me?” she frowned.
Or maybe not.
“It’s not her, Alpha. We could have easily sensed her energy. This small demon, it was hard to.” A warrior narrated.
Your Silver looked at them with downturned lips and arching eyebrows. “Oh, you saw a demon?”
She didn’t sound she believed it. The warrior noticed and looked down disappointed.
“They are right, maybe not about if it’s a demon but something scared them here, purposely.” I defended.
She looked around and made a small run towards the road that led to the cave. “Tell me, did it run past here in a hurry?”
They all began nodding, wearing frowns. “It did! It scared us to death! How did you know?!”
Your Silver had a mischievous grin. Could she be involved in this?
“Ah, now, before you begin blaming me, I think I know who it is.”
“Who?” I folded my arms.
I expected it to be a question of ‘what it is’ but I’m comfortable with it being a ‘who’.
“My Beta’s son recently shifted, his wolf is not balanced and keeps running around. Last time, it was Black Rose, now, here.” She exhaled.
The warriors glanced at each other, unsure.
“I’m really sorry about it, he’s just eight, a pup and his wolf is yet to learn. He really didn’t mean to scare you guys like that.” Your Silver added.
Did she really mean that it was a pup running about? So Edwin had actually been, right? I looked down, feeling guilty.
Hearing it was just a pup, the warriors nodded understandably, speaking of how talented he was to shift at eight.
“I thought my warriors were crazy.” I confessed, the warriors laughed at my statement, perhaps not realizing how true they were.
They went on with their work. Some packed things so they’d relocate to the hill top which was a better look out.
Your Silver stood besides me. “I also thought the pup was crazy. He just told me now that he saw a cave and sea somewhere so I came here.”
I faced her. “How did you know it will be here?”
“Well, I’ve been here once. While at Black Hills, when no one had my time. I liked the presence of the sea. The cave was warm too.” She replied.
I nodded, feeling relieved that the small demon thing was settled. I mind linked the warriors that I’d be leaving since they were okay.
Ray’s relative reminded that as it wasn’t an actual demon and I should make Edwin know so it wouldn’t hunt him.
I surely will, and use it to tease him.
A pup could traumatize them this much. I knew the small demon would turn out funny.
“I will be on my way out!” I told Your Silver.
She exhaled. “I should to, and resist the temptation to stare at the sea.”
“Go to your pack. Logan can be anywhere.”
“Please, he should be scared of me and not the other way round. Go to your own pack. Don’t bother about me.” she waved dismissively.
She was something, even after Logan’s direct threat at her? “Alright, good bye then.”
I climbed the horse and left, the mystery veil around the small demons slowly leaving me.
But wait, why was this pup harassing wolfs around Logan?
Before, he had scared Edwin, making him distract me from killing Logan.
And now, my warrior sensed an energy, which could be Logan, but he scared them off.
Was there something connecting him and Logan or these are all coincidences?
Should I have left? Should I be worried?
