Chapter Hundred and Fifteen – Lacking.
Jaden’s POV
The sun light pierced into my eyes and drove out the sleep in them. I was in Black Rose. The smell of morning roses made me aware.
But was I supposed to be here? My last memories were being at Silver pack with Rih.
We were dueling, I can’t remember what she did that made me annoyed.
I jumped from my bed. Why couldn’t I remember anything? That meant my wolf was in control.
“What did you do?” I asked him sternly. “How did it go?”
“I certainly didn’t win the duel.” He muttered.
He didn’t? That was kinda embarrassing. After all his desire to battle a silver wolf, he didn’t win?
“To be fair, she was my mate so I went easy on her, I think.” He defended.
I chuckled, walking to cleanup, then I paused. “Wait, you think? You don’t know if you went easy on her?”
“I don’t, okay? All I know is, Jonah brought you back here and a nurse came to check on you.” He sounded so frustrated.
A nurse checked me? How badly was I beaten that a nurse came to check on me? I searched him and he didn’t know the answer to that.
Why couldn’t he remember? And I couldn’t remember also? Then what did we do?
Few hours ago, I helped a young boy solve a problem of his wolf keeping memories from him, now my own wolf didn’t even have memories.
“It’s not that bad, just ask Jonah.” he sighed, having unexplainable disgust within himself.
Did I have a choice than to ask Jonah? I slammed the door, getting in to wash myself.
I walked out minutes later with a towel on my waist and another on my neck. I sighed.
The fact I still couldn’t make out anything that happened at Silver pack, even after my medicinal hot bath, weighed a ton inside of me.
My wolf didn’t think he was easy on our mate and dealt with frustration and disgust. Wasn’t that point that he had messed up?
“Jonah! where’s Jonah?” I asked out loud.
“Training the wolves!”
I stepped back, hearing someone behind me. I gasped, seeing it was my younger brother, Jake. “What… how long have you been here?”
“My stealth got better, I got in as you showered and have been here since you sighed ten times already. So, what’s wrong?” he grinned.
I threw the towel, on my neck, unto his face and walked towards my wardrobe, changing to my clothes.
“Don’t wanna talk about it? I’d keep bugging you.” Jake sighed, resting on my bed.
My eyes shut tightly, trying to suppress the anger my wolf was sending me. It wouldn’t be ideal to vent on my inquisitive brother.
“Get Jonah to wait for me at the courtroom. Send the guards away, I need to speak to him privately…”
“It’s about your pretty mate, right?” he smirked. “Jonah said you two dueled but you ended up unconscious. He also said she’s mad at you.”
My hands froze. Rihanna’s mad at me?
“Jonah didn’t tell me whether you lost the duel or not, but he did seem disappointed. I’m not also sure if it’s in you, or Rihanna.” He added.
I clenched my fists. “Whatever. Did Jonah say why she was mad?”
“I’d ask him if you want. But why duel with wolfs with Rih when you know your wolf gets cranky. You even hurt your own warriors.” Jake scolded.
Honestly, I was being paranoid, slightly jealous and interested in dueling with a silver wolf.
I hadn’t cared about ‘restoring Jonah’s dignity’.
“She dueled with Jonah, I took it as sport. From what I remembered, she seemed to be enjoying it.” I answered, not meeting his gaze.
My brother left my bed and strolled towards the door. He paused just outside, then spun to me.
“If she enjoyed it, she won’t be mad and refuse to treat you. You were unconscious but she forced Jonah to take you away.”
That was right, my wolf confirmed Jonah taking me all the way here for medication.
I sighed, plopping down on a nearby couch. “I don’t remember anything, Jake… I don’t know what my wolf did.”
“Ask him…”
“He doesn’t remember as well!” I retorted.
I felt a pang of frustration hit my wolf as I yelled those words out. Jake was quiet for a while.
“That’s why you need Jonah.” He nodded. “Well it’ll be embarrassing for him to know he’s Alpha is lacking. Don’t ask, I will.”
I looked up at my brother? I was lacking? Not knowing my wolf’s memories?
True, it was lacking not to. An act only common with young recently shifted wolfs, but here was my Alpha wolf, lacking!
“Do that for me.” I faked a smile. “Thank you.”
Jake exhaled, then walked out of my room.
My head fell back, resting on the headrest. This wolf would be the doom of me. Stubborn and now lacking.
“Must you rub it in?”
“Yes, I must.” I replied him. “At least, you have guilt now. Maybe cause it’s your mate, but when it’s my warriors, you don’t care.”
He whimpered, returning back to his shell of frustration and disgust for himself.
I was absorbing too much of it so I left the room to look for something distracting.
“Ralph, where are you?”
My Beta was close. “On my way to you. Good morning, hope you had a good sleep?”
I smiled, feeling better already. “Yeah, you?”
“Well, kinda did. You know I’m married now.”
I nearly chuckled.
“But Black Hills didn’t sadly. The Alpha King most. And they need our help.” Ralph added.
Black Hills had no sleep? As well as Chris? Was this Logan again?
“Logan attacked and took hostages.” I met Ralph at the courtroom. “Chris saved them, but lost his eyes.”
“He’s blind?” I blurted.
Ralph nodded, then looked down. “In the letter, Ray reported he can’t see, Logan’s badly hurt again and all hostages were saved.”
I turned the letter upside down and downside up. This was filled with bad news. Apart from the hostages being saved.
“Chris is a really good King to lose his eyes to save his warriors. I admire that.” I whispered.
Was such things expected of me when I’d become Alpha King? With my wolf acting up, could I possibly be able?
Ralph studied me then hissed. “Instead of downgrading yourself, could you think of how to help Chris get his sight back?”
I snapped from my thoughts. Even Ralph knew I downgraded myself. “I’m not a doctor, how’d I know?”
Ralph smirked. “Chris is not the first wolf to experience blindness that wolf healing couldn’t correct. How did she get help?”
My eyes widened. My mom!
She had suffered from this before but she’s seven seas away now so Chris will have to be blind for a while.
