CHAPTER 78: IT’S ALL COMING DOWN TONIGHT [3].
Evelyn put down the bowl of noodles for Tom who grabbed it and started eating. She smiled and went to the sitting room. There wasn’t much to do, it felt as if she was living life on repeat for the past few months. Before she could take a spoon, the doorbell rang and it made her pause, wondering who it was. Kira would have called to inform her of her coming if it was her so who could it be?
Tom stared at the door for a while, and so did his mother before she eventually stood up to answer it. When she opened the door, she was faced with the biggest surprise ever. Raphael was standing right in front of her, holding a box that she assumed was filled with pizza and maybe something else.
“Raphael.” She whispered and he smiled. Tom stood up and came to their side. His eyes widened when he saw him and instantly cried out.
“Daddy.”
Raphael put down the box and lifted the happy Tom, he used this opportunity to enter the house without being asked to. Evelyn closed the door unconsciously as her eyes were glued to Raphael who was still turning around with Tom.
“Do you miss me?” Raphael asked. Tom nodded and his father kissed him.
“I missed you too, Tom. I missed you.” He hugged him tightly again. Evelyn was unmoving and he looked at her; the woman who had always been in his dreams since that morning; the woman he loved; the woman that he couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with no matter what.
Raphael placed Tom on his feet and gave him the things he had bought. The happy boy then excused them while jumping happily to the room he shared with his mum.
“Were you able to do anything about it?” Evelyn asked with a trembling voice.
Raphael walked closer and nodded.
“I was able to do it.”
“You are not getting engaged to anyone, right?”
“No, I am not getting engaged to anyone except you. That’s a promise.” He replied and finally opened his arms.
“It’s time for your hug.”
Evelyn smiled and a tear dropped from her eyes as she ran into his embrace. She hits his chest with her palms.
“You scared me.”
“You don’t know how much I have missed this.” Raphael smiled and kissed her forehead.
“I know that I refused to speak with you those times and that was because I was scared, Evelyn. I felt dejected within myself because my main aim when I knew you was to make myself independent so I could prove my worth to you and our son but then you got a hold of the truth unexpectedly. I had to work something out.
By mistake, I signed a contract with my father that gave all my rights to him. I sought help but I was told that since it had been written there that it was of sane mind, there was nothing I could do. He ordered me around and threatened me. I was ashamed.”
“You could have explained to me. I would listen.”
“Yes, I could have but it would have done nothing. I did not want you to get worried about me because at that moment, it felt as if there was nothing I could do. I would eventually end up getting engaged to Erica who was my former fiancee known as Lucy.”
Evelyn looked up in surprise, “She was your ex-fiancee?”
“Yeah. When she was with me, she used a very good and uncatchable disguise so I believe the present look is her normal look.”
“That was why she was so determined and confident of getting you. I didn’t get to meet or know her much.”
“You didn’t need to. She is evil, I am glad that your distance away from her is as long as another milky way from ours.”
Evelyn chuckled.
Raphael led her to sit down while he did so beside her, holding her hands affectionately.
“I felt utterly useless that I couldn’t help you. I know I should have been brave to face the situation just like other women would have…I should have been independent…”
“Shush, darling. You are not other women. That you are like this doesn’t make you less of a woman. There are sometimes when even the strong have to run and hide, do you know why? It isn’t because they want to do so, they NEED to do it because of the change of times. They need to wait till the time is in their favor before revolting and that is what you have exactly done. Thank you for being there for Tom. Thank you so much.”
He hugged her again. Evelyn felt reassured.
“How did you find me?” She asked.
“Kira gave me a hint about where you could be. I came here the day you arrived here but I hid. I came here at least twice a week until I traveled on a business trip with the cover of working for my father but it was for my sake. Things are getting back to the way they were, Evelyn. We can go back to the way we were and try to build the feelings, relationship, and family that we have, please.”
Evelyn looked into his eyes, those bright and piercing green eyes of his had managed to get her attention once again. He was the one who made her heart beat faster than ever. She slowly leaned over him, wrapped her hands around his neck, and kissed him.
Raphael was stunned for a second and before he could proceed, her lips were off his.
“We can go back. I have a whole lot of faith in us.”
“Thank you. I promise not to disappoint you or Tom. I will try to be the one for you.”
He then kissed her. He perfectly sucked her upper lip while giving her the chance to Evelyn deal with his lower lip. The whole atmosphere had changed and Raphael slowly traced his fingers around her back without lifting her shirt. He moved down to her chin and played with it.
He slowly made her lie down on the chair while he hovered over her. He sucked her neck and kissed it before moving to her eyelids and trailing his kisses there. Evelyn had never experienced such a feeling before. This was the best in her life. If anyone had ever told her that she would experience this then she would have doubted it instantly.
Being mindful of where he was, he took things easily so they wouldn’t get out of hand. Evelyn felt something cold easily slide into her finger and her eyes widened at the realization that she pushed him off her. She took a glance at her hand and looked at Raphael who attractively bit his lips with a smile.
“Did you…”
“Be mine, Evelyn Rosé.” He proposed. Evelyn blinked and the feeling was overwhelming that she burst into tears. Tom then came out of the room and walked to meet his mum.
“Mum, why are you crying?”
“I asked your mum to marry me.”
“Really?” Tom’s eyes sparkled.
“Mum said nothing yet.”
“Mummy, please say yes. For my sake, please say yes.” Tom pleaded.
Evelyn looked from her son to Raphael, the identical entity. She smiled and nodded.
Tom jumped up, “Dad, she accepts.”
Raphael laughed and looked at her, “Please, say it, and if you are not ready to…”
“Yes, I will be yours.” Evelyn interrupted. Raphael hugged her and kissed her. His mind was at rest now, he had been thinking that she could overthink the issue but she accepted.
“I am Tom and I need a warm hug too,” Tom whined.
“Alright, come here.” Raphael pulled him into their midst as they did a family hug.

Back in the Theophilus mansion, Micheal met Don and Zeke downstairs.
“What are you two doing here? Where is Raphael?”
“We haven’t seen him yet,” Zeke replied. Michael shook his head and climbed the stairs to his room while Mandarin followed in a safe space. When he opened the door, he almost got a heart attack from what he saw.
His wardrobe had been destroyed and things around his room had been scattered. He checked them and ran downstairs.
“Call the cops right now. I have been rubbed.” He yelled. Mandarin’s heart skipped a bit. The cops?
“Call the cops, where is my phone?”
“You don’t need to, sir. We were the ones who did the damage.” Zeke responded. Micheal’s eyes widened, he then looked at the things with them but before he could say a word, his phone’s notification sound popped a lot of times. With frustration, he took a close look at it and he got the biggest shock of his life.
His hands trembled and his heart ceased for a bit before he fell unconscious.
“Micheal,” Mandarin yelled.
“Mr. Theophilus.”
They all rushed to help him.
