CHAPTER 66: A MAJOR BLOCKBUSTER.
Evelyn finished talking with Raphael on the phone. He hadn’t come to visit since that day because he said his movements were being monitored. Despite his claims that all was well and he was trying to figure things out, she felt as if he was lying but since he had promised to handle things and she had promised to have faith in him, she let things flow freely.
Evelyn was able to employ a few people to help with the baking and things had been going so well.
“Ma’am, why don’t you let me deliver the cake myself?” Stella offered.
“That won’t be needed, Stella, thank you. I will do it myself as that is what the customer needs. After all, they are always right.” She winked.
“Maybe not always right but yeah.” Stella chuckled.
Evelyn and Stella carried the cake to the car before entering together. The time for the party was stipulated for one o’clock in the afternoon and she left the shop at 12:30 pm. She wanted to go there and come back as quickly as possible. Evelyn kept giving the directions to the driver and somehow he was stunned that they were heading to a fancy place.
On getting there, the security man asked for their passes and she had to call Vincent’s number. The latter spoke with the security man and they were allowed in.
Evelyn was surprised. It was a five-star residential hall beautifully designed in and out. She was pleased with the connection she was receiving nowadays, things were working out for her. Just as she was thinking, someone approached her. He was dressed in a well-fitted tailored blue suit. His hair was fantastically trimmed at one side and the rest were brought to the other side for plaiting.
He looked majestic and exuded a royal countenance as he walked.
Evelyn looked at him, yeah, she appreciated the man’s gorgeousness but he wasn’t as handsome as her man. Thinking of Raphael made her smile unconsciously.
“Hello, you must be Miss Evelyn, right?” The man asked.
“Yes, you are…?”
“Vincent.” He replied shortly.
“Oh, Mr. Vincent, I beg your pardon. Happy Birthday.”
“Thank you very much. Where is the cake?” Vincent asked with a smile.
“Right over here.” Stella brought it out with the help of the driver. It was beautifully designed with numerous flamboyant colors, seeing that the celebrant was a man, she used dark theme colors for the cake and it was attractive.
“Wow, majestic.” Vincent complimented.
“Please, let’s go in.”
The cake was carried in by a few men while Evelyn and Stella followed. The driver remained outside, waiting in the car.
Stella’s mouth was wide open, aside from the gorgeous man, this place was a whole hell of stunning. It was attractive and getting in, the series of guests were dressed in blue with masks covering their faces. Blue and white were the theme colors for the party.
The ladies were dressed extravagantly as if trying to surpass the other while the men were simply in their suits…well, not all of them. A few were dressed in expensive shirts.
“You can sit over here and these are the party face masks. You might wear it and you might not. Since you are the baker then you might have a few things you might want to say about your work and somehow invite others to patronize you.” Vincent said gently while Stella’s face was glued to him.
“Oh, that won’t be needed. I am not planning to stay for long…” Evelyn tried to decline.
“Alright then, I will make the introduction on your behalf. Just wait for it, okay?” Vincent asked.
“Yes, thank you.”
Vincent stole a glance at Stella before leaving.
Not far from where Evelyn was sitting, Erica, Vegas and a man holding a camera were standing at a corner watching them interact.
“If I must say, she is stunning. No wonder she is the mother of my brother’s son.” Vegas commented and sipped his drink while ignoring Erica’s killer gaze. He had somehow been stepping on her toes ever since Evelyn arrived.
“She is only pretending. She isn’t beautiful and not worth Raphael’s time. Anyway, I hope you took a few pictures, Johnny.”
“Yes, Erica. I did take some when she arrived.” Johnny answered.
“Good. Take them from different angles and don’t miss a single misleading spot. I will talk to Vincent.”
“No problem.”
“And you!” Erica pointed at Vegas but the latter pulled her hand down.
“I am going to become your brother-in-law so don’t stick your finger out to me.” He warned.
“Don’t try threatening me! Just focus and follow the plan or else, I will kill you with my bare hands.” Erica replied and walked away with Johnny behind her.
Vegas sneered and poured the remaining drink into his mouth.

Kira arrived at the car race that afternoon. She was wearing a white short gown and a pair of black shoes and her hair was let down. She had been trying Richard’s number for a long time but it wasn’t going through especially after seeing the pictures. She needed an immediate response.
As she walked in, she saw him in a corner with a few other guys, and guess what? The bitch was with him. Lucinda was laughing at what else they were talking about.
She stood still as her palms curled up. A boy sighted her and touched Richard, insinuating that someone was behind him. Richard turned and his eyes met with Kira’s. He glanced at Lucinda’s arms that were around his neck before looking back at Kira.
Kira turned around and left. Richard pushed Lucinda away from him and ran after Kira in a bid to stop her which he eventually did. Kira threw his hand away when he held it.
“Stay away from me.” She warned him.
“Why?”
“Are you asking me why? Are you not ashamed of yourself? I caught that girl clinging to you…”
“Her name is Lucinda.” Richard interrupted.
“I don’t care. Why didn’t you pick up my calls last night?”
“I wasn’t the one who rejected the call after the phone rang.” He replied nonchalantly and his behavior made Kira scoff. What the hell had come over him?
“What is wrong with you? I never knew that you were like this, Richard. You are not different from him…from the rest of the useless men.”
“How dare you accuse me? Don’t you dare call me names!” Richard reacted angrily but shut up when Kira shoved her phone into his chest.
“Have a look at this, just have a look. Is this what you meant by winning my heart? Wow, I am not surprised. You rejected my calls because you were with her. I can’t believe I accepted you into my life. Everything was fake…you are a f*cking liar…”
Richard was surprised to see the pictures and he looked at Kira who kept on rumbling. He wanted to apologize but then what happened between the two of them turned his thinking elsewhere.
“Shut up, Kira!” He yelled at her.
A few people had gathered around, these were the other racers. They did not know what exactly was happening so they were patient.
Kira was shocked, her whole body was trembling as tears stung her eyes.
“Richard…Richard, did you just tell me to shut up?”
“Yes, I did. You kept on judging me. I wasn’t the one who kissed a guy yesterday. I wasn’t the one who lied to her partner and didn’t tell him where she was heading to…I wasn’t the one who went ahead to pay attention to her ex-boyfriend…I am not even sure if he is an ex or if there is something still going on…I wasn’t the one who rejected the call of her partner in the presence of the ex-boyfriend before they kissed. You leaned in to kiss him! Kira, you are a betrayal.” He yelled at her, his voice shaking.
Kira smiled bitterly and wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes.
“Wow, so…you are judging me based on that. Since you were there, why didn’t you wait to see everything? You judged my actions but did not listen to the conversation. What should you have done when you saw me? You could have visited me and asked me what exactly was making you doubt everything! Communication is the only key but you went ahead to sleep with that slut as a repayment.
Fine then, stick to her. I blame myself for giving a second chance to a total kid…a kid will forever remain a kid no matter what. Age is useless. I hope today will be the last time we see each other, Richard Gulf. Thank you for your betrayal and your non-communication. You are nothing but a brat, a useless nonentity, a fool, a thread tied around a slut’s finger, you are nothing but a kid, not a man! You are a total and random fool and I hate you more than ever. Disgusting and a chronic womanizer, you are all the same.” Kira shouted at him nonstop before spitting on him. She glared at him and Lucinda that was at a corner before leaving.
Richard wiped his face and turned his back against her too before leaving hastily.
