It was only at this moment that she realized she had encountered a bad person.
“Elbert Meyer, what are you doing? Let go of me, I’ll call the police if you don’t.”
Kimi Hall struggled desperately. However, as a girl, she didn’t have the same strength as Lacey Willis, who was trained in martial arts. Moreover, she was a quiet intellectual, with no power. Even if she did, she couldn’t struggle against a man like Elbert Meyer, who had been trained in combat sports since childhood.
“I’m arranging your on-the-job training. Just listen to me, and you’ll have a high position in the company without competition. You might even become the CEO if you behave well.”
Elbert Meyer grabbed Kimi Hall’s head, his breath hot against her skin, convincing her with his words. He had done this before. One of them had fallen for it and was now a high-ranking executive at the Cainleech Group. Of course, he wouldn’t give her the CEO position; he was just trying to confuse Kimi Hall.
“I keep my promises, relax. No one else is here, obey me just this once, and I won’t disturb your normal life anymore. It will be like a dream, be obedient.”
Elbert Meyer exhaled hot breath and moved his hand up. He was about to act.
At that moment, Kimi Hall found an opportunity and bit down on Elbert Meyer’s hand.
“Ah!”
Elbert Meyer let out a cry and released Kimi Hall. There was a bloody tooth mark on his hand.
Kimi Hall couldn’t hold back now.
“Damn it.”
Elbert Meyer looked at the mark, his face darkening. Then, he looked at Kimi Hall and began to panic as he hurried into the factory in front of them.
“I’m letting you run. I know this factory better than you. If you can escape, I’ll admit defeat. No one is coming to save you, I checked. You came here alone.”
“Kimi Hall, let’s play a game. See if I can find you. Once I find you, you must behave and not resist. Otherwise, I’ll lose my patience and can even kill. There are buried women here.”
Elbert Meyer wasn’t lying. Some women resisted, and one, who was already married, refused to betray her husband and was choked to death in this place. Most women succumbed to him out of fear, and on Kimi Hall’s resume, it stated that she was single, without a husband. He didn’t believe she would resist to the end.
“Behave, I’m coming.”
Elbert Meyer’s face twisted into a sinister smile as he walked in. His loud voice echoed in the factory, leaving Kimi Hall feeling paralyzed, realizing she didn’t know anyone here, not even a friend.
After Patrick Bailey disappeared, she was heartbroken in North Coast. Eventually, she moved to Yu Mountain City, against her family’s wishes, to start anew. She believed in her education and abilities to make it in this unfamiliar city.
But now, she faced this predicament, making her feel like crying. She wiped her tears, knowing she couldn’t give in. She looked for a way out, but the doors were all locked. Her knowledge became evident as she tried to find an exit. However, the doors remained shut.
“Why can’t this door open? Why is it locked?”
She banged on a door only to find it locked. She tried to find the key but couldn’t. Then, she heard a voice from outside.
“Looking for the key? Want to get out? Give up.”
It was Elbert Meyer’s laughter. “This abandoned factory is all locked up. Besides the main gate, there’s no other way out. I just locked the gate; the key is with me. No one can help you get out except me, so submit, you have no hope.”
For him, it was a game of cat and mouse, and Kimi Hall was the mouse, a hopeless one that gave him a sick pleasure.
“No.”
Kimi Hall refused to give in and continued to try other doors, hoping to find an escape. But each attempt was met with disappointment as all the doors were locked. She couldn’t open them.
Despair eventually overtook her, but she bit her lip, climbed onto a door, and grabbed an iron bar she had found on the ground. She planned to attack, to catch Elbert Meyer off guard and snatch the key. It was her only option.
A few minutes later, as Elbert Meyer came looking for her, she watched him and whispered, “Is he still at the next door?”
“Go to hell.”
Kimi Hall jumped down from the door and swung the iron bar at him, but he caught it.
“You thought I didn’t notice you. You’re naive… there are nails… ahh!”
After letting go of the iron bar, Elbert Meyer lunged at Kimi Hall, but unexpectedly stepped on a nail she had placed, taking him by surprise.
She tried to run, knowing the nail wasn’t enough to stop him. She had underestimated him. The pain only made Elbert Meyer lose his patience.
“You wretch!”
Although he had stepped on a nail, Elbert Meyer moved quickly, grabbed Kimi Hall by the hair, and struck her with a slap, cursing her for trying to resist. He reminded her how many people wanted to be in her place and showed his anger towards her.
