“Okay… alright…” Isabella Turner took the card, but still felt uneasy. She knew this person must be extraordinary, but also probably didn’t have much money to offer.
From her observations, this person seemed to have a certain official status, and money was likely limited. Even if there was some, it wouldn’t compare to the five major families. However, little did she know, Robin Bailey’s wealth was vast.
Aside from his various industries, don’t forget Landview Inc. was under his name, a company that was no small conglomerate.
With the destruction of South Province, a large amount of funds had been injected into Landview Inc., propelling its rapid growth.
The flagship Robin-Sophia Group, a legacy left by her mother, stood at the core.
“Four billion,” Isabella Turner didn’t dare to add more, instructing her secretary to add four billion. With just this amount, they could withstand the impending ten billion disaster, but she wasn’t sure if the card in her hands actually contained four billion.
Perhaps it didn’t. It wasn’t until the finance team completed the transaction that she knew they had it. Instantly relieved, she reassured everyone, “Don’t worry, the chairman is here. Everything will be fine, we can resist this.”
Despite her words, morale was low, their expressions still dim because they were barely holding on. The money wasn’t enough.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have only added four billion. Just surviving, they couldn’t even mount a counterattack.
If the other party injected more funds, they… would be in for a rough time. Everyone understood this reality; morale just couldn’t rise.
As expected, on the other side, Gavin from Isabella Cosmetics, who had been so elated, thinking he could shatter them in one go, was now frozen in disbelief. Looking at the roadmap, he muttered, “They actually blocked it.”
But then he smiled again, “But adding just four billion only barely helped them. It seems their potential is limited to these four billion. Secretary, add fifty billion, let them feel what despair truly is.”
With a swift gesture, the secretary mobilized the funds, and fifty billion was promptly invested. Their excitement soared even higher.
Meanwhile, in Isabella Turner’s office, the faces of her staff changed drastically as they watched their stocks plummet rapidly, far quicker than before.
“CEO… at this rate… we won’t last five minutes… Ah…”
An employee, overwhelmed, turned to Isabella Turner for guidance. The others followed suit, and Isabella Turner, despite her own despair, put on a brave front, full of confidence, “Don’t panic, our company is not broke. This card holds two billion, we’ll invest two billion.”
She reached for the bank card, Robin Bailey’s card. However, she was only pretending, adding two billion to avoid appearing helpless.
In her mind, that card probably didn’t have much money on it. Initially, upon hearing Isabella Turner’s words, the employees were somewhat uplifted, but upon hearing the rest, they were filled with despair.
Two billion, two billion-why bother if they had the money? Just invest it all. The situation wasn’t looking good.
“Keep adding, I’ll go to the restroom,” Isabella Turner instructed before handing the card to the finance clerk and heading to the bathroom.
She couldn’t bear the pressure; she needed a moment to compose herself. Her departure further dampened the spirits in the office. The finance clerk, holding the card, felt a mix of complex emotions, suggesting to the others, “Perhaps today is the day we part ways.” If the company folded, so would they.
“Sigh.” The group collectively shook their heads in disappointment. The thought of parting ways was difficult; Chairman Turner was a good person, treating them well. Unfortunately, it seemed they were no match against the tide.
Following Isabella Turner’s instructions, the clerks continued to add funds, not knowing when the insufficient balance notification would pop up, maybe this time, or the next, or the one after that. Chairman Turner seemed to be at his limit; they knew they couldn’t attempt too many transactions. “You have invested two billion,” a voice announced.
The finance clerk’s calm heart grew ever calmer. What use was two billion in the current situation? Adding four billion or six billion wouldn’t make a difference.
The continuous investments of two billion each began to stir emotions within the clerk.
As the investments hit the tenth billion, way beyond her expectations, the clerk laughed at herself, ‘What hope are you holding onto? Maybe, this ten billion is all there is, and the next time there’ll be none left.’
Meanwhile, at Gavin’s company, Gavin sat on his chair, gleefully watching the stock market chart, boasting to Lorelei, “See, it’s plunging rapidly. It won’t take long before it crashes. Haha.”
Lorelei, too, smiled at the scene before her. Isabella Cosmetics was on the brink of collapse-good riddance. Amidst their laughter, a staffer piped up, “Boss, the other side is injecting more funds.”
This news jolted Gavin and Lorelei, now trailing a trace of worry. “How much did they invest?” Gavin asked, trying to mask his concern. “Two billion,” the staff replied.
“Two billion! Haha!” Gavin and Lorelei erupted in laughter.
“Two billion, haha, are they joking with us, with our fifty billion? They must be desperate to add just two billion.”
Their laughter aside, they understood the situation- the other side likely had no more capital left. Relief washed over them; the opponent was broke.
Yet, the staff’s next words changed the atmosphere: “But, it’s not just one or two billion- it’s many sets of two billion. The third set, the fourth set, the fifth set… up to the twentieth set of two billion… thirty sets of two billion.”
“Boss, our stocks are plummeting rapidly,” the staff concluded.
