“Go on.” Elise Houry waved her hand, signaling Snowy Houry to leave. In her eyes, there was a hint of complexity that had been directed towards her for so many years. It had started back in elementary school and continued ever since. But now, it seemed to have finally come to an end.
“Thank you… thank you…” Snowy Houry bowed repeatedly, then hurriedly left, not daring to stay a moment longer. She feared that her cousin might suddenly turn ruthless and harm her, leaving her with no room for regret.
Robin Bailey stood silently beside Elise Houry, watching without speaking. He did not comment on Snowy Houry’s decision. While he was Elise Houry’s opponent, it had not escalated to the point of fatality, and Snowy Houry was not strong enough to create any trouble.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Clarke, seeing Snowy Houry leave, quickly followed suit and knelt before Robin Bailey, pleading, “War God… I didn’t mean to… I was blind to your greatness… please spare me.”
“Blind to my greatness, so you target someone weaker instead?” A cold light flashed in Robin Bailey’s eyes. The Clarke family, they deserved to be condemned. If it weren’t for Robin Bailey’s return, Elise Houry would have suffered greatly at the hands of the Clarke family. It was claimed to be business tactics, but the wolf guards had revealed that their private methods were far from honorable, only blocked by the wolf guards.
During the Clarke family’s time in Stillwater, they had been ruthless and had caused the deaths of many. Especially his brother! Who knows how many female students he had played with.
“These people are despicable.” Robin Bailey thought to himself.
“No, no, we… I…” Isaiah Clarke’s face was pale, and he struggled to say something, but ultimately, he couldn’t explain himself. Robin Bailey then spoke, ordering, “The Clarke family’s assets are confiscated, all members are sentenced to death, to be executed in battle.”
“No, no…” Isaiah Clarke’s terrified face shouted out. But soldiers had already come forward and taken him away. Even if he tried to argue, it was futile. The army would soon arrive at the Clarke family estate to carry out the War God’s orders.
And then, the rest of the Clarke family members were taken away, leaving behind a group of pale-faced individuals. Finally, Robin Bailey glanced at Eliott Garner, who was drenched in cold sweat. He had only just recognized Robin Bailey, not only as Mr. X but also as Kisia’s First War God. What trouble had he gotten himself into?
“Do you enjoy deceiving and swindling people?” Robin Bailey asked.
“No, no, I never deceive or swindle… I am a good citizen… I became a ‘Three Good Students’ in elementary school for helping an old man cross the street…” Eliott Garner rambled.
“Hmm?” Robin Bailey furrowed his brow, making Eliott Garner tremble. “No, no. I deceive and swindle people, I love deceiving and swindling people. I’ve been doing it since I was a child…”
“I have a task for you.” Robin Bailey interrupted.
“A task? What task?” Eliott Garner shivered.
“Go to R country, deceive and swindle. I want to see how far you can go with your deceiving and swindling.” Robin Bailey said.
“What?” Eliott Garner was stunned.
“Any objections?” Robin Bailey raised an eyebrow.
“No, no, I’ll go, I promise, I’ll leave tomorrow.” Eliott Garner’s head bobbed up and down like a bobblehead.
“Consider yourself lucky. Just don’t be foolish enough to run away. Remember, I have more informants than you can imagine. If you run, you know the consequences.” Robin Bailey said coldly.
Sending Eliott Garner to R country served two purposes. Firstly, he was indeed not a good person, and getting rid of him from Kisia would prevent further harm to others. Secondly, his talent for deception and trickery should not go to waste. Perhaps in R country, he might shine. Robin Bailey didn’t hold high hopes, but it was a fitting punishment for Eliott Garner, a move in the game of chess.
“When… when can I… come back?” Eliott Garner asked weakly.
“I’ll notify you when the time comes.” Robin Bailey said.
“Okay… okay.” Eliott Garner was almost in tears at the thought of going to a foreign land he had never visited before, not knowing if he could successfully deceive and swindle there.
Robin Bailey then waved his hand, and Eliott Garner quickly ran off. He didn’t have the courage to stay any longer. Robin Bailey then glanced at the remaining individuals, Algernon Gutierrez and Melvin Todd, before retracting his gaze. But that single glance made Algernon Gutierrez and Melvin Todd tremble.
Thinking of begging for mercy, Elise Houry spoke up, “Don’t worry, my husband has no interest in you.” The two visibly relaxed.
Subsequently, Algernon Gutierrez and Melvin Todd exchanged looks and then turned to Elise Houry. “Chairwoman, we have realized our mistakes and wish to return. Please accept us back.”
“Please, Chairwoman, take us back.” Other followers chimed in. The First War God of Kisia was truly a powerful ally. Elise Houry’s eyes turned cold as she uttered a few words, “Do you really think I’m that forgiving? I have dismissed employees before for betrayal. Once betrayed, never rehired. Take care of yourselves.”
With that, Elise Houry left, leaving them white-faced and rejected. They knew they would be turned down but still held onto a glimmer of hope, that maybe, just maybe, CEO Houry would forgive their mistakes and let them return to her side.
But now it was clear, it was nothing but wishful thinking. Once betrayed, never rehired! They were left with no way back.
“Have we done something we will regret for the rest of our lives?” Algernon Gutierrez said, his face pale as he glanced at Melvin Todd.
“I don’t know about you, but this is the biggest regret of my life,” Melvin Todd said, his eyes filled with fear and regret.
They had made the wrong choice. What stung the most was that they had made that choice on the day before they were supposed to leave. They could have changed their minds at the last moment. If only they had stayed resolute in their convictions. If only they had realized the opportunity they had missed out on.
Slapping himself on the head, one person in the crowd berated himself for not being more determined. “Why didn’t you stick to your decision? Do you know what you missed out on?”
This sentiment echoed in the hearts of all those present. Regret. They had missed the chance to truly rise up. If only they hadn’t betrayed, they might have soared high with the First War God of Kisia. They were itching to give themselves a good thrashing.
Slap.
Someone slapped themselves twice in the face, clutching their head, regretting frantically, “Why didn’t you stay resolute? Do you know what you missed out on?”
This sentence represented the cry of their hearts. Regret. It was their chance to truly rise, but they had missed it!
