Chapter 506: Just Sharing a Bed?

Book:The Warlord Is Back Published:2024-5-31

Mimi Beckett glared ferociously, like a small animal protecting its master.
“Yes,” the people below replied begrudgingly before retreating.
What spell had this man cast on the young miss that made her so obedient to him? Most puzzlingly, Robin didn’t seem to want any relationship with Mimi Beckett and had been quite cold and distant, extremely aloof.
Yet for some reason, Mimi Beckett seemed to like him even more because of it.
Robin didn’t know that in Mimi Beckett’s world, men were all cut from the same mold – attentive to her at first, lusting after her body, but never there when she truly needed them.
Robin was different. Though cold, he was dependable in times of danger.
He gave her an incredible sense of security.
Most importantly, Mimi felt his aloofness was a good thing – proof that this man would not stray once they were together. He would be hot for her and cold to all other women.
A man like that was hard to find.
So the more distant Robin acted, the happier Mimi became, and the more she liked him.
The young miss was the young miss after all, not like other women.
Just then, the remaining people, including Lili, tried to slip away. After all, they could not afford to provoke this young miss. Her father could end their lives in an instant if she wished.
So they had to be polite.
But Mimi Beckett turned and glared at them.
“You’re trying to leave?” she challenged menacingly.
Her tone made them freeze in their tracks.
Lili turned back nervously. “Miss Beckett, this is all just a misunderstanding, truly…”
“Yes, a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!” the others chorused.
“I just came for tea…”
“I just came to accompany him…”
“And I just came to join them for tea!”
The gang leaders all laughed obsequiously, their previous fierceness gone.
They only acted tough facing ordinary people. But this was Mimi Beckett, the treasured daughter of the Beckett family. Not someone they could handle. With a wave of his hand, her father could end them and they’d never know how they died.
So they had no choice but to be polite.
But Mimi Beckett retorted, “Do you really think I believe you?”
“Lili, from today on, get out of North Coast. Trash like you only brings shame to this place. Be gone!”
“Yes, yes of course!” Lili fled without even daring to refute her.
Being banished from North Coast was better than death. At least this woman wouldn’t kill him, though her father might.
“And you all…” Mimi glared at the others. “From today on, Patrick Bailey is your boss. You will obey him without question, or else…”
She let out a cold chuckle.
Mimi Beckett was no naive flower. As Henry Beckett’s daughter, she had her ways.
But then she turned back around, instantly transforming into a sweet and delicate flower. “What do you think, Big Brother Patrick? Is this punishment enough? Or should it be more severe?”
More severe?
Her previous threats had scared them witless. What could be more severe than that?
Mutilation and dismemberment?
The men immediately bowed deeply to Robin. “Boss!” They chorused, suddenly extremely deferential.
“Boss!” As if Robin really was their leader.
But Robin just glanced coldly at Mimi Beckett. “Unnecessary,” he stated flatly before returning to his room.
“Haha,” Jeff laughed and went back too. He didn’t understand and didn’t need to. With the drama over, he just wanted to go back to sleep.
Leaving Mimi Beckett standing there alone.
Everyone was shocked. This was Mimi Beckett, the treasured daughter of the Beckett family! An untouchable goddess in North Coast. Yet this man just dismissed her like nothing, leaving her there.
Wouldn’t Mimi Beckett be furious?
But instead of getting angry, Mimi Beckett turned back to the men. “Even though my brother Patrick doesn’t like you all, what I just said still stands. He’s your boss now, understand?”
“Yes, understood,” they acquiesced begrudgingly.
They didn’t want a penniless punk as their boss, but had no choice. One did not provoke the Beckett family.
Still, they secretly looked down on Robin, seeing him as someone who only knew how to live off a woman.
“Where’s your manager?” Mimi Beckett rapped the front desk.
“Here, I’m here!” The manager hurried over, all smiles. He had been hiding, afraid to come out. But now summoned by the Beckett miss, he had no choice but to appear.
“I’m buying this hotel. Thirty million enough?” Mimi took out a check.
Thirty million!
The manager’s eyes bulged out. His small inn was only worth 10 million max. Yet Mimi casually offered 30 million. This woman really was loaded.
“Yes, yes, enough, more than enough!” The manager grabbed the check gleefully and scurried off, delighted by this windfall.
“Get me a room near that man’s,” Mimi ordered the stout receptionist.
By now the receptionist was also stunned. What power did this man have to make the famous Mimi Beckett shamelessly chase after him like this? Even buying the whole hotel just to be near him! Unbelievable!
“What are you staring at? I said get me a room!” Mimi frowned.
Jolted from her daze, the receptionist stammered, “Yes, right away, Miss. I’ll put you in the room next to his, boss!”
Cold sweat beaded her brow. This woman was her boss now and could fire her anytime. She absolutely could not offend her.
After getting the room key, Mimi dismissed her entourage. “You can all leave now. I don’t need your protection anymore.”
“But boss…” They hesitated.
Her father had ordered them to protect Mimi well.
“Who’s your boss, me or my dad? And with Patrick Bailey here, what good are you? Every time my dad claims to have found strong bodyguards for me, I end up in danger and it’s the people I hired myself who help. Now scram before I fire all of you!” Mimi yelled.
The men looked at each other, unsure what to do without a direct order. Finally one called Henry Beckett and after getting instructions, they retreated.
“Hmph.” Mimi snorted satisfiedly and headed upstairs, thrilled to be rooming next to Patrick Bailey.
It was practically like sharing a bed! She could hardly wait.
