“No!” Nina Houry shouted.
“Get out!” Tiger was about to pull the grenade pin, but his reaction was not as quick as James’s. James snatched it away, tossed it in his hand, and sneered, “A grenade, you really think a grenade can hurt me? Too naive, die.”
He began to tighten his grip, ready to shatter Tiger’s skull.
However, at that moment, terrified screams echoed from behind him.
“Boss, boss, behind you, all around, there are bugs, so many bugs, oh God, no.”
James’s eyes hardened, and he turned his head. But he was stunned. Because all around him, bugs had appeared out of nowhere. They were everywhere: in the sky, on the ground. It was a sight that gave one goosebumps, made the scalp tingle. Too many.
“Ah… help!” One of James’s men tried to resist the bugs, but he got careless, and a bug crawled onto him, then a second, a third, one after another, gradually crawling all over his body.
And then his screams filled the air. A few seconds later, he fell to the ground, his body being devoured by the bugs, but he was still able to scream in agony, a sight that made one’s scalp tingle.
“What the hell is this?” James felt his scalp tingle. He didn’t recognize it.
“Captain, there are too many bugs. We kill them, and more appear, as if they’re endless. Grab what we came for, let’s get out of here,” someone shouted.
At that moment, James didn’t kill Tiger. Instead, he threw him into the pile of bugs, hoping the bugs would feast on Tiger, buying them some time. Tiger turned pale.
He could accept death. But being eaten by bugs, that was too painful. As soon as he hit the ground, he wanted to run.
But the next second, he found that these bugs didn’t bite him. Some even crawled over his body without biting him. He was stunned, and then a wild joy appeared on Tiger’s face.
These were reinforcements!
But by then, James couldn’t care less. They had paid such a high price just to get the Sword of Kings. He couldn’t let it all be in vain.
Just as he was about to enter the garage to capture Nina Houry, a black beetle slowly flew in. James noticed it, and immediately punched it onto the car door, certain it was dead. But on the car door, the black beetle shook its head and flew up again.
“Can’t be killed?” James looked puzzled, and immediately threw another punch. It hit the car door again.
But the black beetle shook its head and flew up again.
“Damn it, what kind of creature is this? Why can’t it be killed?” James looked grim. What the hell was all this?
In Riceshire, he had never seen such a large scale of bugs.
At that moment, he felt a bite on his foot, and immediately slapped it, only to find a mosquito that he had killed.
“Good thing it’s not one of those unkillable bugs.”
However, as soon as he finished speaking, he felt dizzy and unstable.
“Poisoned.” James’s face changed again. He quickly steadied himself, using the car door to keep from falling. He grit his teeth, bracing himself, and reached inside.
He had to get the Sword of Kings. If he got the Sword of Kings, he could negotiate a deal with the Emperor of South Land, securing greater benefits for Riceshire.
But then, something crawled into his trouser leg. James looked down, and his face turned paler than ever: “A centipede! Fuck.” He knew what a centipede was.
A large centipede had crawled into his trouser leg, climbing up his leg. James quickly tried to grab it, but he was too late. Something bit him at a critical spot, making him feel terrible. He even screamed out loud.
Then he tried desperately to grab it.
Finally, he managed to grab the centipede, tearing it in half. But now, he could no longer stand steady, collapsing onto the ground. His legs below him were turning a shade of purple. James muttered, “Damn, the centipede is poisonous.”
“Who did this?” He asked.
This was the first time he had fought such an absurd battle. Battling with insects. Not even managing to kill them. And there were so many of them. The key was, they were poisonous. These centipedes, they even chose to bite the more tender spots.
Just then, he saw a triangular-shaped snake, its tongue flickering, creeping towards him. Suddenly, he was panicked. This time, he didn’t want the Sword of Kings; he didn’t want to fight for it anymore, he only wanted to survive. Or else, die a noble death. Not die from a snake bite. That would be too humiliating.
They didn’t even see their enemies. Yet he was injured. After managing to run a few steps, he was caught up by the poisonous snake. As he was being caught up, he yelled, “Everyone, retreat, retreat!” But no one responded to him.
Because they were all dead, buried in a sea of insects. And soon after, he too died from the poison. These insects, the most terrifying thing about many of them wasn’t their fangs or claws, but their venom. A light bite, even a high-level practitioner like James couldn’t withstand. This was the terror of the Westland lineage.
Yes. Allie had arrived.
“Let’s go.” Debbie Sanchez was no fool. Naturally, he could see that the situation was not right. All the people from Riceshire were dead. He promptly ordered a retreat.
But then Robin lifted her eyes and smiled. “I’ve gone to great lengths to lure you here, and you want to leave?” She swung her sword.
Debbie Sanchez quickly blocked. But the next second, his face changed drastically. Because she was so powerful, this sword was hundreds of times stronger than all the attacks Nightowl had shown before. With a snap, his long sword broke, and the energy from her sword stabbed deep into his abdomen. He nearly got sliced in two.
With a thud, Debbie Sanchez fell to his knees, propping himself up with half a sword, blood continuously spilling from his mouth. He looked up at Robin in disbelief, his voice hoarse, “This… is a trap?”
“That’s right, congratulations, you got it right. But unfortunately, there’s no prize.” Robin swung her sword down.
Debbie Sanchez collapsed completely onto the ground. He never expected that their meticulously crafted plan was a trap. And then, Robin took them down one by one. None of the assassins escaped.
In the end, not a single person from Maplia or Riceshire survived. After all, they should have known better than to casually approach Kisia’s territory. They had to pay a price for coming. But actually, Robin alone could have dealt with them. But she didn’t feel like looking for these vermin scattered across Mountland. So, she revealed herself, letting them deliver themselves to their death.
