It was nighttime, in a bar, where a sexy woman was drinking at the counter, holding a high cocktail glass, her face slightly drunk, clearly intoxicated.
“Miss, you’re drunk. Would you like me to take you home?” A thuggish man approached, a smug smile playing on his face, offering to take her home.
“Okay.” The woman leaned into the man’s arms.
Her voluptuous figure made the man’s blood rush, he couldn’t wait to throw her on the bed and take her right there, but he couldn’t, at least not yet.
“Let’s go.” The man helped the woman out of the bar, not heading to a hotel, as he couldn’t wait any longer.
He had never met a woman with such a fantastic figure. He really couldn’t wait.
He pulled her into a nearby alley, took off his pants, and even before he had a chance to scream, he collapsed in the alley, while the bar woman, still dazed, leaned against the wall.
Clap, clap, clap.
Then, someone clapping approached, “Not bad, Benson Laydon’s daughter, Betty Laydon. Even in this situation, you managed to kill a man.”
“Killing a little bug is nothing. But, Dylan Harding, you, the young master of the Harding family, of such a high status, would resort to drugging, I have underestimated you,” Betty Laydon said, her face red, her eyes dreamy, leaning against the wall, taking a few deep breaths, then looking at Dylan Harding in front of her.
She was the leader of the scout team infiltrating Mountland, the daughter of Benson Laydon.
“The number one family in Kisia? Ha, Betty Laydon, don’t put such a high hat on me. My Harding family wants to stay in Kisia, but no one gives us a chance. As for the means, it seems that you, Betty Laydon, are so righteous. If you were really so righteous, you wouldn’t have sneaked into Mountland,” Dylan Harding squinted his eyes.
Even though South Land is currently an ally of the Harding family, they are merely allies, and disputes can occur between allies. As long as there are benefits, betrayal can happen at any time.
After all, that’s what the Harding family is doing.
As long as there are benefits, they are willing to betray Kisia.
So, Dylan Harding rushed over to warn them not to be too presumptuous. Mountland is now the territory of the Harding family, not South Land’s.
Here, you have to listen to me.
“By the way, given our alliance, I can tell you some news. In a certain Master Lawson’s house, there may be people from the capital hiding. I don’t need to explain their purpose to you. However, we always suspect that something is wrong with this Nightowl, so you can’t kill those people. Hand them over to us. We need to test them,” Dylan Harding said slowly, squinting his eyes.
“Dylan Harding, you’ve got quite the plan, expecting us to catch people for you? It’s one thing to catch them, but then to hand them over to you instead of keeping them? What do you take us for, your manual laborers?” Betty Laydon sneered. Honestly, ridiculous. South Land was currently thriving; why should they work for him?
“Betty Laydon, think it over, take your time,” Dylan Harding said.
“Hmm.”
Betty Laydon was about to refuse when suddenly a call came in. As she listened, it was her trusted informant, panting and saying, “Miss, we’ve been ambushed, everyone’s been subdued. They said our lives are depending on you.”
“You!”
Betty Laydon looked at Dylan Harding, furious, “Dylan Harding, our two families are still in an alliance. Aren’t you afraid this will break our alliance?”
“Who do you think would suffer more from the dissolution of the alliance? If my Harding family were to lose, we could simply flee overseas. The wealth in our family is enough for us to live comfortably for the rest of our lives. But South Land isn’t the same. If you lose, it will mean the destruction of your nation.”
Dylan Harding’s words struck Betty Laydon in the heart.
Indeed.
The Harding family could afford to lose.
South Land could not!
They didn’t dare to turn the tables now. If the alliance were truly to break, then the Harding family would flee, and they wouldn’t be able to stop the constant flow of reinforcements from the north. It would cause a huge shift in the battle.
“I agree.”
Betty Laydon finally gave in reluctantly.
“That’s better, now go back. It’s not safe for a girl to be out alone. I won’t escort you; I have a sister to accompany,” Dylan Harding waved his hand and left.
“Dylan Harding!”
Betty Laydon gritted her teeth.
Today, she was outmaneuvered.
The alliance between the two sides was merely for their mutual benefit. If the war were to end and they won, the two families would immediately turn against each other.
So Dylan Harding was right to strike first and suppress South Land’s morale. He also let Betty Laydon know that Mountland was Harding family’s territory, no matter how secretly she moved, she was still discovered, and they even managed to drug her drinks accurately.
That showed that Mountland was firmly in Dylan Harding’s grasp.
The Harding family was indeed not ordinary.
That night, Betty Laydon led her team to infiltrate Master Lawson’s residence. According to the locals, there was quite a lot of activity, but no one dared to approach or even call the police.
Mountland was like a ticking time bomb, filled with all sorts of characters.
They would avoid trouble if they could.
The next morning, Robin could feel that Mountland was more crowded than before, the atmosphere even more tense, like a dam about to burst.
Knock, knock.
There was a knock on the door, and Nina Houry went to open it. Outside was a middle-aged man who glanced at Robin and said, “Master Nightowl, um, a Mr. Grant would like to invite you to the horse races. He asked me to pass on the message. The location is the racetrack to the west.”
Hotel Mountland had many branches in the city.
Robin was staying in just one of them.
The man outside was the genuine owner of Hotel Mountland. In Matthew Grant’s eyes, he was barely an individual, so Matthew Grant sent him as a sign of respect. He sent someone of adequate status to pass on the message.
“Alright.”
Robin agreed, a flicker in his eyes.
He also wanted to know what this big family from Middle Land wanted to do. Were they really planning to defect, or were they just seeking an immunity token, the immunity token from South Land?
