Thump.
Brayden Styles made a phone call.
“Hello, who is this?”
Cain Johnson’s voice came from the other end of the phone.
Everyone was excited. She was still around, that was great.
“Cough, uh, I’m from Timi Entertainment. Our company wants to invite you to star in a movie scene. The pay is high. I was wondering if you have time for a meeting to discuss it.”
Brayden Styles didn’t make the call himself. After all, Cain Johnson knew his number and might not answer.
So he used someone else’s phone and had them say those words.
Timi Entertainment was a well-known name in St. Sunday, and they’d mentioned a high payment, showing their sincerity. Therefore, even Cain Johnson would want to meet with them.
And this time, they could follow Cain Johnson’s trail to find the man from before. Then, they could trace the vine to find the melon and give him a severe beating. This was their beautiful plan, but they couldn’t have expected that Cain Johnson would respond with, “I’m sorry, I’ve changed careers. I’m a bodyguard now.” She hung up the phone, leaving a group of stunned people behind.
Changed careers? An international superstar had changed her career? And had become a bodyguard? Her long, shapely legs, her curvaceous figure, she was going to be a bodyguard rather than a secretary? How was she going to protect people? By stunning them with her beauty? It was baffling. What was happening to the world?
“What do we do now?” someone in the crowd asked. Everyone looked at each other, completely bewildered by the situation.
“I’ll make a call to Cain Johnson,” Tim Chase patted his chest and said, “I’ll invite her to a ball. She’s a girl after all, she must like balls. And with my status as the young master of the Chase family, she will surely behave.”
Even if she didn’t behave, Cain Johnson would treat him properly. She wouldn’t hang up the phone as soon as he called. He would have the opportunity to slowly get words out of her. And besides, the idea of Cain Johnson with her slender arms and legs being a bodyguard was clearly a joke. She wouldn’t dare to deceive him. Right away, he made the call.
“Hello, who is this?” Cain Johnson’s voice came from the phone.
“I’m Tim Chase. Miss Cain Johnson, hello. There’s a ball tomorrow night, hosted by our Chase family. Many high-profile individuals will be attending, and it may be of great benefit to Miss Johnson. So, I am here to invite Miss Johnson to our ball. I wonder if Miss Johnson can honor us with her presence.” Tim Chase said in a mild tone, with a gentle smile. He was the image of a humble gentleman.
He was polite and even mentioned his title as the young scion of the Chase family. He didn’t believe that Cain Johnson would refuse. Even if she did refuse, her attitude would be very good. He trusted in his status. However,
“I’m sorry, but I’ve changed careers. I’m a bodyguard now and I have to protect my employer 24/7, so I won’t be able to attend the ball. I’m very sorry, perhaps we’ll meet another time.” After saying this, Cain Johnson hung up the phone, leaving everyone stunned again.
She really was a bodyguard? She gave up being a superstar to become a bodyguard? Was reality really this absurd?
This time, Tim Chase’s face was a little pale. She had refused, which was within his expectations, but she had hung up the phone before he could even start his spiel. It was a severe affront. This woman was too much.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of their villa, there was a road facing a lake. A temporary film crew was filming there, and among them were Cain Johnson and Nina Houry.
“Filming a movie, but always answering calls. That’s unprofessional.” Nina Houry glared at Cain Johnson.
“I’m a veteran actress, you dare to contradict me? I’m your senior, you need to learn.” Cain Johnson retorted, but still put her phone on silent and set it aside. She didn’t know why she was getting so many calls that day. She left it aside, too lazy to answer. She wasn’t afraid of offending anyone. After all, she now had a strong backer, a very strong one.
“Yes, yes, old, old, old, old senior.” Nina Houry, ever the sly one, quickly responded.
“You.”
Cain Johnson was irritated by Nina Houry, but she thought of something, straightened her chest and said with a smirk, “Yes, old is old, but big. Much bigger than some little ‘beans’.”
“You.”
Nina Houry was also irritated.
Everyone glanced over, shaking their heads helplessly. These two had been bickering since they joined the crew and were still at it. Fortunately, it was just a war of words, all for fun.
Alastair Angelo also sighed and called out, “Everyone, get moving.”
“Okay, director.”
Everyone started moving.
However, at this moment, a crew member approached Alastair Angelo and said, “Um, Miss Angelo, that guy has been lying there doing nothing. Isn’t that too much?” He pointed to a man lying on the grass, basking in the sun.
It was late autumn, and the sun was not too strong. There was still a slight chill in the air, so lying down was quite comfortable.
Alastair Angelo: “…”
Alastair Angelo looked at him with a strange expression, thinking, should I tell you that this man is not part of my crew, but is the war god of Kisia, who simply came along to enjoy the sun? You would be scared to death.
So, in the end, Alastair Angelo didn’t say anything.
“Go back to work,” Alastair Angelo said.
“Yes.”
The crew member nodded.
He was probably one of the director’s relatives or something. He came here to do nothing but collect a paycheck. How comfortable it must be.
Being a director’s relative is nice.
He was a little jealous.
These people were all recruited by Alastair Angelo recently, her original crew had all left, so these people didn’t know Robin. In fact, the original crew didn’t know Robin either.
Who could have thought that the seemingly lazy person lying next to them, with a blade of grass in his mouth, was the war god of Kisia.
The man who wielded a three-foot-long sword and could shake a million armies.
At this time, Tim Chase, not giving up, made another call to Cain Johnson, but this time she didn’t pick up at all. He made several more calls, but she still didn’t pick up.
Tim had other people make a few calls too, but no one answered.
“What’s this damned woman playing at?”
Someone in the crowd got angry.
She kept not answering the phone. Was she looking down on them?
“What do we do now? Cain Johnson is not at home, not at the office, and she doesn’t answer her phone. Do we have to check every hotel, one by one?” someone in the crowd said timidly.
Brayden Styles’ face was even darker.
Tim Chase was even angrier.
