Caught off guard, his face was filled with confusion.
“Next time, don’t try to act tough. If you have any problems, just come to me.”
Robin gave Theresa Lindsay a phone number, then left with Jeff Reczek. They hadn’t meant to come here in the first place. But on their way, they noticed a crowd of people heading towards the Lindsay family.
This Lindsay family was fierce, but Robin liked that.
“Kisia, it’s because of people like you that I feel the need to protect you.”
Robin glanced back from within the car, smiled subtly, and then left.
“Sis, who is this Mr. X? He’s so amazing.”
A small girl with horned braids tugged at Theresa Lindsay’s sleeve and asked.
“I also feel that he is amazing.”
Theresa Lindsay was still rather confused. She had just pulled in a random person from the street to boost the number of fighters. She had no other intentions. But now, she had somehow roped in a leader of the fighters.
“Mom, who is this person?”
Theresa Lindsay tugged at Rose’s sleeve. Everyone’s gaze fell on Rose. After all, the battle was over, and Rose was now in charge of the Lindsay family.
“Isn’t he the stranger you brought in?”
Rose tapped Theresa Lindsay on the head.
“How was I supposed to know this stranger was so formidable?”
Theresa Lindsay rubbed her head, feeling a bit put upon. Who would’ve thought that pulling in a random stranger would result in such a formidable ally?
“Alright, begin cleaning up the battlefield.”
Rose gave the order. Only now did they start treating their wounded and dealing with the piles of Roach family corpses. But Rose still looked in the direction Robin had left, murmuring, “Could he be the one?”
She had never seen the person she was referring to, but she had heard her husband, Isaac Lindsay, talk about him. He had a unique aura, and his every move was similar to that of a commander leading an army. After all, he was a war god. But with a mask covering his face, she couldn’t be sure. However, she had a hunch.
Most likely, he was the one. After all, only he had such a demeanor.
Roach family. Most of the important figures were here, even some from other groups, mostly from the peaceful faction. At the top was the solemn-faced Ben Roach, all waiting for Dion Roach’s return.
“Dion Roach should be back by now.”
Ben Roach glanced at the clock on the wall and murmured.
“Mr. Roach, are you so sure?”
In the crowd, one person suddenly disagreed with Ben Roach, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Aaron Linton.”
Someone recognized the man. He was the eldest son of the Linton family, the peace faction’s main city family.
As soon as Aaron Linton spoke, before anyone else could react, the people of the Linton family became anxious. The head of the Linton family, William Linton, immediately stood up, grabbed Aaron Linton, and rebuked, “Rebel, what are you talking about!”
“I said, the Lindsay family will not be destroyed!”
Aaron Linton’s eyes turned red as he confronted William Linton.
Hearing this, the crowd seemed to recall something, and they began to chatter, “I remember, the Linton family is for the war faction, and they have a childhood sweetheart relationship with Theresa Lindsay of the Lindsay family. They even have a marriage contract.”
“Why is the Linton family here? Are they spies?”
“Very likely.”
As the conversation continued, the crowd began to view the Linton family with hostility.
A spy?
William Linton’s face turned pale. He slapped Aaron Linton, leaving a large handprint on his face, and roared, “Fool, the Lindsay family are all fools. The entire city is peaceful, and they’re the only war faction. They’re courting death. Moreover, Dion Roach, one of the three guardians of the Roach family, is on their case. You know him.”
“If Isaac Lindsay were still alive, no one would dare touch the Lindsay family. But now that he’s dead, the Lindsay family is like a lamb to the slaughter, with no hope. The Lindsay family is doomed.”
William Linton grabbed Aaron Linton by the collar, whispering anxiously, “The Lindsay family is doomed. If you don’t want the Linton family to follow suit, you’d better behave yourself.”
Aaron Linton had initially wanted to resist. But upon hearing the words ‘Linton family will also fall’, his body stiffened, and he dared not move. He had grown up with Theresa Lindsay, playing together since they were children. They were childhood sweethearts, full of affection for each other. This time, when the Lindsay family was in crisis, he had wanted to go, but his father, William Linton, stopped him and told him that if he didn’t want the Linton family to be annihilated, he couldn’t go to the Lindsay family. He wanted to go, but he couldn’t. He had a mother, a father, and younger siblings. He couldn’t implicate these people. So, he didn’t go. He could only watch as the Lindsay family was destroyed, his heart bleeding, even tormented.
“Theresa, I’m sorry.”
The most painful thing in the world is probably this.
So, in such moments, he could only grumble, but it was only after being slapped awake by his own father that he realized he was in the Roach family’s territory, where the Roach family was in charge. Their Linton family was nothing more than a worm struggling to survive.
Slap.
William Linton slapped Aaron Linton again. Then he turned back and bowed to the high and mighty Ben Roach, “Mr. Roach, my son is young and speaks nonsense, I will definitely teach him a good lesson when we get home.”
“Good, teach him well. Next time, I don’t want to hear this again.”
Ben Roach squinted his eyes, “Next time, if there is such a thing, your Linton family will go down with the Lindsay family. But I heard that your son Aaron Linton and Theresa Lindsay have a marriage contract.”
“Mr. Roach, that’s not true. We have already annulled the marriage contract, we have nothing to do with the Lindsay family.”
William Linton quickly explained. But when he noticed that Ben Roach was still silent, he immediately pulled over Aaron Linton and said, “Aaron, you quickly say, you have never liked that Theresa Lindsay, that woman, it was you who actively broke off the engagement.”
“No…”
Aaron Linton seemed to grit his teeth until they were about to shatter, his eyes turning red.
But William Linton was pulling on Aaron Linton’s collar and saying, “Do you want our Linton family to die? I tell you, if the Linton family falls, your mother, your sister, they’re already dead, hurry up and tell me.”
He whispered, but his expression was almost ferocious, roaring, especially those threatening words.
In the end, Aaron Linton compromised, gritting his teeth as if using up all his strength, “The engagement… I broke it off… I have never liked that… woman…”
After he finished speaking, the whole hall erupted in sneers.
“But, he’s still smart, at least he knows how to preserve himself.”
This thought flashed through the minds of those present.
The Linton family could be saved.
But at this moment, no one expected that a voice would come from outside the door, “I understand. Theresa Lindsay, on behalf of Mr. X, the leader of the war faction, returns two heads to the Roach family.”
“And let me bring a message to the head of the Roach family, if anyone talks about surrender when the country is broken and the family is avenged, there will be no mercy!”
