Chapter 305: The Leader of the Pro-War Faction

“What’s going on? Sit down and take your time,” Rosey Chambers urged Theresa Lindsay, guiding her to a seat. She then fetched a set of plates, and served food to Theresa. “Perfect timing, let’s eat together.”
“I’ve been telling you, we don’t have many people in our pro-war faction. Today, I successfully invited a guy over. This guy is extremely domineering. As soon as he arrived, he said he would cause me trouble. I didn’t take it seriously then, but you know what? As soon as he showed up, he killed Young Master Roach. From then on, he became the leader of our pro-war faction.” Theresa Lindsay excitedly recounted her story without even taking a sip of water after sitting down.
“Very impressive,” Rosey Chambers responded, though she didn’t quite grasp what Theresa was talking about. Seeing Theresa’s excitement, she repeatedly nodded and echoed, “Impressive, impressive.”
Only after a lengthy explanation did Theresa Lindsay notice the other two people in the room. She stared at them, stroked her chin, and took a few steps closer to Robin. She scrutinized his face, and after a while, asked, “Brother, have we met before? Why do you seem so familiar? And you, your physique reminds me of someone wearing a rabbit mask.”
Robin and Jeff Reczek had changed clothes, and Robin had previously worn a mask, so Theresa Lindsay didn’t recognize him. Still, they seemed familiar, especially the bulky Jeff Reczek.
“We might have met sometime,” Robin responded with a light smile.
“Oh, I forgot to introduce you. Theresa, this is my friend, Robin, and the other one is Jeff Reczek. Robin is a doctor. He helped my grandmother,” Rosey Chambers introduced Robin and Jeff Reczek to Theresa Lindsay.
“A doctor?” Theresa Lindsay immediately dismissed her doubts. The mysterious Mr. X didn’t resemble a merciful healer but a devil back from hell.
Then, Rosey introduced Theresa to Robin, “This is my high school classmate, Theresa Lindsay. She’s also a distant cousin of mine, although our relationship is quite loose.”
“It’s fine, Rosey. Even if we’re distant, I’m still your cousin. If anyone bullies you, just let me know. I will protect you,” Theresa Lindsay assured her, patting her chest.
“Okay,” Rosey Chambers nodded.
However, Robin raised an eyebrow at this point and asked, “Where were you when Rosey was in trouble before? She was almost forced by a rogue to sell herself. You haven’t been doing a very good job as a cousin.”
“What!” Theresa Lindsay stood up abruptly. Her face reddened in embarrassment. She hadn’t known Rosey from a young age; they were high school classmates. From the first moment she saw Rosey Chambers, she liked this delicate girl.
So, she went back, reviewed the family tree, and forcefully claimed a cousin relationship. Rosey Chambers didn’t oppose.
From then on, she had been taking care of this young girl. However, she hadn’t expected to hear the news of Rosey being forced into prostitution just after she had boasted about her protection. How could she not feel ashamed?
“It’s okay. It’s all in the past now,” Rosey Chambers reassured Theresa Lindsay.
“Who was it? Who dared to force you? I’m going to settle the score with him,” Theresa Lindsay insisted.
“It was Favian Bird,” Robin interjected.
“Alright.” Theresa Lindsay immediately made a phone call. However, her face changed drastically after the call, and faint curses could be heard from the other end of the line. The call ended abruptly, obviously a failure.
It was expected. After all, the Bird family was a major clan in St. Sunday, and Theresa Lindsay had just stirred up big trouble, offending the Roach family, the top family in St. Sunday. She was in a precarious situation herself, let alone going against the Bird family.
Naturally, Theresa Lindsay got scolded and was urged to go back. It wasn’t safe for her to be wandering around.
“Rosey, I…” Theresa Lindsay felt awkward as she glanced at Rosey Chambers, not knowing what to do with her hands.
“It’s okay,” Rosey Chambers responded with a gentle smile.
“Is your grandmother okay?” Theresa Lindsay asked.
“She’s fine. Mr. Bailey has healed her,” Rosey Chambers replied.
Theresa Lindsay touched her nose. She realized that she couldn’t do anything and sighed, standing up to leave, “I’m going back.”
Theresa Lindsay left, looking a bit downcast. After she left, Robin signaled Jeff Reczek, “Go, see her off.”
“Got it.” Jeff Reczek put down his chopsticks and left.
Once the two of them were gone, Robin looked at Rosey Chambers, who was eating slowly and gently, and said, “You don’t seem too keen on seeing Theresa Lindsay.”
“Yes, I already owe her too much,” Rosey Chambers admitted. “She’s been protecting me since high school. I owe her too many favors and can’t repay them all. Moreover, I heard that the Lindsay family in St. Sunday is on the verge of collapse. I can’t add to their troubles.”
After a silent bite of her meal, Rosey Chambers added that she couldn’t burden Theresa Lindsay any further. Therefore, she had refrained from contacting Theresa Lindsay since she had returned. Only just now did Theresa learn of her return, and she had rushed over, clearly concerned about her. However, Rosey couldn’t risk dragging Theresa into more problems. That’s why she had been a bit cold earlier.
Yet, Robin looked out the window and chuckled, “She wasn’t in danger before, but now she truly is.”
At this moment, Theresa Lindsay had just left the neighborhood and was walking down the street, unaware that several assassins from the Roach family were lying in wait nearby. To the public, she had gone straight home and was locked in. But she had snuck out from another location to see Rosey Chambers.
No one could have guessed that she would have the audacity to venture out, which is why she didn’t perceive the danger. Or rather, she didn’t think the Roach family would be so ruthless. Within an hour, they had located her and dispatched assassins.
“Target: Theresa Lindsay. Target confirmed. Proceed with the execution,” a few inconspicuous pedestrians wearing duckbill caps drew out small knives from their sleeves, the kind used for silent assassinations.
However, just as they were getting closer, a hand landed on their shoulders. “Roach family’s assassins?” a questioning voice came from behind.
The assassins realized they had been exposed and tried to retaliate, but before they had a chance, their collarbones were snapped with a few distinct cracks, and they collapsed on the spot.
Fortunately, by then, Theresa Lindsay had already left. Jeff Reczek didn’t bother to hide anymore. Recently, there had been quite a few deaths in St. Sunday.
