Three consecutive slaps.
Without any mercy, they landed on Elizabeth Warner’s face, making her face visibly swollen and causing her to wail.
“It’s all because of you that these people have come here. You deserve a beating, but just three slaps will do. This is me teaching you a lesson, and it has nothing to do with that guy.”
Eric Gilligan grumbled.
When had he, Eric Gilligan, ever been so humiliated. He had suffered such a loss, was taught a lesson and had to obey that guy’s command?
No matter what, he was a man of integrity. Robin told him to slap and teach a lesson, but how could he? Elizabeth Warner worked for him, and who did that guy think he was?
If he really did as he was told to, then his name would be a complete joke.
“I won’t let that guy off so easily.”
Eric Gilligan said vengefully.
Although he was severely injured, he was essentially a vengeful person.
However, at this moment, a group of people entered, led by a domineering man who seemed to be looking for something urgently. Eric Gilligan was stunned when he saw him.
Because this man was Bloodhand, the godfather of North Town’s underworld.
“Master Blood, Master Blood, what are you looking for?”
Eric Gilligan limped over, covering his chest, still stained with blood.
Bloodhand saw him but had no time to worry about him; he hurriedly asked, “Did you just see three people, one very fierce-looking, one a limping man dressed like a farmer, and another handsome man with sharp facial features?”
“Ah… yes… Master Blood, why are you looking for that guy?”
Upon hearing Bloodhand’s description, Eric Gilligan realized that it matched Robin and his people.
“Do you know who that is? Matthew Grant’s superior. The person in charge of the whole North Town military base calls him superior. Today, everyone in North Town is going to pay their respects to him, including me. That’s why I’ve been looking for him. Also, I’ll tell you, I have got some report that his identity is beyond your imagination. Some people call him Primus.”
Primus!
As soon as Bloodhand mentioned this, Eric Gilligan was dumbfounded. Even when Bloodhand left later, Eric Gilligan still had a shocked expression on his face. Primus, what could that be.
There was only one Primus in the country.
It was the person who protected the country, turned the tide, and made all neighboring countries flee at the mere mention of his name.
It took him a full ten minutes to react.
“I just tried to attack Primus. I was looking for death.”
A flash of terror crossed Eric Gilligan’s eyes, then he saw Elizabeth Warner on the ground, who had already recovered but was still covering her face. He slapped her again.
“Primus asks me to do it!”
The slaps continued one after another.
It was because of the order and his panic. Eric, a mere bar owner, had provoked the Primus of Kisia. My God, he was really looking for death.
No.
He had to apologize!
Eric Gilligan wanted to apologize, but Robin wouldn’t give him the chance. In Robin’s eyes, this man was not worth his attention, and the so-called Bloodhand was the same.
They were on their way home now.
And they didn’t take a car.
“How are you?” Robin asked Kelly.
“I’m fine.” Kelly replied, tilting her head, not wanting to look at Robin, but still speaking cautiously.
The two were silent.
Walking along the street.
After a long walk, Kelly finally said seriously, “Actually, I knew about these shady dealings, and I knew that Elizabeth Warner was not a good person. But as she said, I need money.”
Yes.
She was short of money.
Having lost her parents at a young age and being the eldest sister in the family, she naturally had to bear the burden of the family. Her grandmother was old, and her younger brother was still young. She even gave up the university she was admitted to and dropped out of school.
Why?
Of course, it was to take care of her family.
But she soon realized that her current ability wasn’t enough. Her grandmother couldn’t sell many sweet potatoes all day, her body was in poor health, and she needed medication that was expensive.
Her younger brother was young and needed tuition and living expenses.
She had no choice, so she had to get involved with these things. The reason she smoked in front of Robin yesterday was not entirely because of her father.
It was because she had nowhere else to turn.
“Which university did you go to before?” Robin suddenly asked.
“Um…?” Kelly was somewhat taken aback.
“What university?” Robin asked again.
“North Town Medical University.”
“Studying medicine? Why?”
“I wanted to become a military doctor and go to Eastern Kisia to find my dad. I wanted to ask him if he had forgotten about our family, but now I can’t continue my studies.” Kelly lowered her head, feeling sad.
“Go to that university tomorrow. I’ll take care of everything. Since Pann is not here, I’ll be your dad.” Robin said.
“You’re taking advantage of me.” Kelly gave Robin a glance. “You’re not much older than me.”
Yes.
Kelly was in her early twenties, and Robin was just thirty years old. They didn’t have much of an age difference, but Robin and Pann were brothers, sworn brothers. In that sense, he could indeed take his place for his brother.
After being silent for a while, Kelly asked, “Do you really mean it? You’ll take care of everything?”
“Really.”
“Pann is dead, isn’t he?”
“Yes.”
After a moment of silence, Kelly’s mouth curled up in self-mockery. “What am I still hoping for? With that guy’s temperament, not calling us or even sending a message for all these years, I should have known.”
She always knew. When they were young, that guy loved them both so much. But in recent years, he hadn’t sent anything home at all. She guessed the reason but just didn’t want to believe it.
Now, if her father was still here, how could a stranger say to her something like, “I’ll take care of everything”?
“By the way, don’t worry about me. I’m an adult, and I’m prepared.”
Kelly turned her head to reply to Robin.
“Do you smoke?” Robin asked again.
“Yes.”
Robin took out a cigarette and handed it to Kelly. “Just this once.”
“You can’t tell me what to do.”
Kelly stubbornly smoked the cigarette, but she suddenly choked, coughing and spluttering. Then she burst into tears, turned around, and leaned against Robin’s chest, sobbing loudly.
“This is my dad’s cigarette. When I was little, I secretly smoked it, and it had this exact taste. Back then, it choked me, and today it still chokes me. That guy, why did he just leave like that? Why did he leave us behind? Why? Did he really think that I could actually take care of the entire family?” Kelly sobbed.
“Cry for a bit.” Robin gently patted Kelly’s back.
People on the street turned their gaze towards them, but Robin didn’t care. His words and the act of offering the cigarette were all intentional. Keeping it all inside was painful, and crying would make it better. After all, Kelly had been taking care of her family when she was only 17 years old.
