Chapter 234: Getting Ready

Book:The Warlord Is Back Published:2024-5-31

“By the way, tomorrow will be the day. Let’s invite Jeff Reczek,” Robin said, leaning to one side.
“Tomorrow?” Nick was taken aback, and then continued, “Boss, the situation in Stillwater is not optimistic at the moment. The three top factions of Stillwater and Lamonia Security are making big moves, and they’re likely to go all out.”
“It’s not quite there yet; they haven’t accumulated enough strength. If I stay here now, it might prompt them to launch an attack sooner. If I leave, by the time I return, they should have completed all their preparations. That’s when things get interesting, right, Nick?” Robin smiled.
Since yesterday, there had been clear movements among the top three factions of Stillwater and Lamonia Security. They were mobilizing troops or funds restlessly. It was clear that they were preparing to go all out this time.
As for Robin, he intended to give these two forces time to gather their strength. That way, when he returned, he could shatter all their power, and only then would the Wraith family and Lamonia Security truly feel despair and genuine pain.
As for sowing discord, Robin never took it seriously. When you have absolute power, both Lamonia Security and the so called three factions would take only a single blow. There was no need to worry about whether they would join forces because it wouldn’t matter even if they did.
“Yes.” Nick replied.

The Wraith family was in a gloomy mood. Walter Wraith sat in the hall, tapping on the table. Beside him sat Constance Brighton and Penn Wraith, who was in a wheelchair with an empty sleeve where his arm used to be.
“The mission failed, and our people have been captured.” This news had just been reported, and it weighed heavily on their hearts.
After so much effort to stage this farce, it had now been foiled. Walter Wraith, wearing a gown, tapped the table and said, “I’ve checked Lacey Willis’s background. She isn’t that smart.” In other words, she couldn’t see through their plan.
“A man named Robin has arrived,” a servant reported.
“Robin?” Walter Wraith frowned slightly, wondering who this person was.
Constance Brighton explained, “Robin is Elise’s husband. He used to be a soldier and now works as a security guard at Robin-Sophia Group. He’s quite a loser and a waste, unable to hold his head up in the Houry family.”
This was the information she had gathered about Robin.
“A former soldier, huh?” Walter Wraith placed his hand on the chair: “Perhaps that’s where we made a mistake. Lacey Willis alone couldn’t see through it, but with a soldier involved, it’s a different story.”
“Father, we shouldn’t worry about Robin. Our focus should be on Mr. X,” Penn Wraith interjected with a clang.
Seated in his wheelchair, Penn Wraith shook his body madly, his face twisted with rage and eyes filled with hatred. He had been crippled by Mr. X, and this grudge had to be avenged! As the eldest son of the Wraith family, he had never suffered such humiliation before.
“I will avenge you,” Walter Wraith said, glancing at Penn’s empty sleeve. Hatred flashed in his eyes. His eldest son had been crippled by Mr. X.
In his mind, even if the plan had failed, Penn Wraith should not have been harmed. Yet, he never expected him to lose both arms.
“I have already mobilized all the forces within our family, about to join Lamonia Security in striking a deadly blow against Mr. X within the next few days. We can’t wait any longer. Mr. X has already become a huge problem,” Walter Wraith said, slapping the table with a grim expression.
Even he himself had not expected an unknown Mr. X to emerge and obstruct his progress.
“What about our hidden chess pieces?” Constance Brighton, who knew some inside information, asked.
“They have been summoned as well. We can’t afford to wait any longer. This time, we’re using the accumulation of the Brighton family’s power from the past hundred years, as well as the chessboard I’ve been laying out for so long. It should be more than enough to suppress Mr. X and the entire Stillwater,” Walter Wraith declared.
Walter Wraith’s face was gloomy.
He didn’t originally need to expose so much of his power, but now, this Mr. X had even killed the guard of that important person. So, he was prepared to go all out.
No matter what, he had to slay Mr. X before that important person arrived.
Stabilize the situation.
He should know that he had been lying low and lurking for most of his life just for this moment, and had prepared so much power for this time. There was absolutely no room for error.
Mr. X must die!
At this time, news of Mr. X’s departure had already spread, even reaching Lamonia Security. Mr. Carlton, accompanied by Max Berry, personally came to find Dexter Newman.
Usually, Dexter Newman didn’t handle matters.
Mr. Carlton was responsible for Lamonia Security’s business, while Max Berry was in charge of the underworld. So Dexter Newman was like a behind-the-scenes figure. Except for three years ago, when he single-handedly cleared out the entire Stillwater, he hadn’t shown his face much since then.
“Boss.”
Mr. Carlton walked into the office and looked at Dexter Newman, who was sitting in the office chair with his back turned. His face was hidden, giving off a mysterious vibe.
“What is it?” Dexter Newman asked.
“Well… Mr. X has sent out a message saying that he will leave Stillwater tomorrow to pay his respects to an old friend… We don’t know if this is true or if it’s a trap.”
Mr. Carlton cautiously speculated.
If it were him, he would definitely set an ambush.
However, Dexter Newman waved his hand: “Don’t overthink it. He’s not like you, not as cunning. From his actions since arriving in Stillwater, you’ll find he’s quite domineering and direct. He’s really going out to pay his respects this time. He’s letting us know so that we can prepare.”
“Prepare?”
Mr. Carlton was taken aback: “He’s so arrogant?”
Yes.
Arrogant enough to send such a message and take a special trip just to give them time to get ready, as if worried they wouldn’t have enough time to gather their forces.
It was hard to tell if this was arrogance or confidence.
Most likely the former.
Mr. Carlton thought to himself, only someone on the inside of Stillwater would know just how terrifying this force was.
Especially this Dexter Newman – horrifying!
There were no other words to describe him. He even felt like he was just a monster.
“This Mr. X does have a bit of my style, quite arrogant. However, he has no idea what he’s facing. Stillwater is not an ordinary city now.”
Dexter Newman’s mouth curled into a sinister smile, and then he issued an order: “Max Berry, go to headquarters and gather our SS squad. Tell them it’s my order.”
“Since Walter Wraith has started to make a move, I can’t just stand by. An SS squad is enough to slaughter everything. This place ultimately belongs to us.”
“The real show is about to begin. As for Mr. X, he’s just a jumping clown in the end.”
