Chapter 232: Not Qualified

Wasn’t it Robin?
Elise had always thought it was Robin. How could there be a Mr. X instead? Could it be…
At this moment, Karen overheard what Elise said and immediately sneered, “Where did this Robin come from? My dear daughter, the one who saved you was Mr. X, always Mr. X. The famous Mr. X from Stillwater, rich, handsome, and well-built. Your Robin never even showed up. There’s no comparison between the two.”
A renowned Mr. X from Stillwater, a man who kept his word.
A broke security guard.
Worlds apart.
Even a fool would know which one to choose. But her precious daughter, more foolish than the fool, constantly thought about Robin. She didn’t know what was so good about that Robin.
“No, this meal was made by Robin.” Elise pointed at the food on the table.
“It was Mr. X who saved you and brought you back. He had just left when Robin arrived. He merely took advantage of the situation. My dear, what are you fantasizing about? Isn’t Mr. X good enough?” Karen said, causing Elise’s face to turn pale.
Slowly sitting down, Elise’s almond-shaped eyes filled with a mixture of powerlessness and disappointment. She muttered, “So it was Mr. X who saved me? Robin, did you just take advantage again?”
“When will you ever stand up for yourself?”
Her faint hope vanished once more.
Taking advantage again.
Robin, when will you stop taking advantage and be good to me for once?
Could you really fulfill that promise?

At that moment, Robin had already returned to Eleanor Manor alone. However, upon arriving at the villa, he found an extra person there – a woman with an imposing presence who had a kitchen apron wrapped around her.
“Sergeant Willis, what is this?” Robin asked, looking at Lacey Willis.
Lacey Willis was in the living room, having prepared a delicious meal. Wearing an apron, she was now diligently cleaning. Fiona was also helping her with some minor tasks.
“Ah, you’re back. I was free today, so I remembered that the last time I came to your place, it wasn’t very clean. I came over specifically to clean for you,” Lacey Willis said, wiping the sweat from her face.
Her oval face was flushed and covered in sweat. She looked tired, but even while talking to Robin, she didn’t put down her cleaning cloth.
Very focused, very serious.
“Well then, thank you, Sergeant Willis.” Robin didn’t stand on ceremony, sitting down at the dining table and starting to eat. He also called Fiona over to eat with him.
However, Fiona couldn’t concentrate on her meal. Instead, she occasionally glanced at Lacey Willis and curiously asked Robin, “Uncle, why don’t we go help?”
“No need, come on, eat a chicken leg.” Robin handed Fiona a chicken leg.
“But why?” Fiona’s small eyes hid a great deal of confusion. She couldn’t understand.
“Because, to obtain something, one must give something in return. You may not understand this now, but you will when you grow up,” Robin said, patting Fiona’s head.
Just like him, he had fought hard to get where he was now.
Seven years in the military, countless brushes with death.
A body covered in scars.
Only then did he have everything he had now.
“Oh, I see.” Fiona didn’t really understand, but she obediently nodded her head.
After finishing their meal, Robin took Fiona for a walk outside while Lacey Willis, dressed in casual clothes, followed behind them like a subordinate, without a single complaint.
“Nick, come out if you’re back,” Robin called out to another corner along the way.
“Um…”
A middle-aged man emerged from the corner, about 5’9″, with rough, dark skin and partially bald. He wore cheap clothes and, at first glance, appeared like someone who had just returned from a construction site. Moreover, he seemed to have a limp, walking slowly with a hobble.
This was Nick, the man Lacey Willis had seen and determined to be completely ordinary without an ounce of danger. As ordinary as one could be.
“I thought you had a guest, so I didn’t come over,” Nick limped over.
“You mean this one?”
Robin glanced at Lacey Willis. “This fellow isn’t really a guest, more like half a servant. From now on, you’ll be in charge of training her, both physically and in terms of experience.”
“Alright,” Nick nodded.
“Wait a minute!”
But Lacey Willis wasn’t happy.
Being called half a servant, she could accept. After all, she came here with the intention to learn, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been working so diligently and sincerely.
She had no complaints about that, but the idea of being trained by a cripple…
Wasn’t that… underestimating her?
“Robin, I was the top of my class at the police academy and even broke historical records. I can take on dozens of opponents at once. My position as captain was earned through my achievements and abilities, not because of my father.”
“Aren’t you underestimating me, having this gentleman train me? What if I accidentally can’t control my strength and something happens?”
“Why don’t you let your top man, Jeff Reczek, train me? That guy should be qualified enough.”
Although she was here to learn, Lacey Willis still had a lot of pride. After all, she graduated as the top student, which was a real achievement.
To be trained by a disabled person, was that…
Robin, however, turned around and walked towards another path, holding the slightly chubby Fiona.
“What do you mean?”
Lacey Willis frowned and asked.
“Train if you want, leave if you don’t. You’re not even qualified for my top man to train you,” Robin’s voice echoed as he walked.
“You!”
Scolded, Lacey Willis’s chest heaved with anger.
What did he mean?
Not qualified?
By what right?
She was the top student in her class at the academy, even the instructors praised her. Why was she worthless in Robin’s eyes?
Seeing Robin getting further away, Lacey Willis was more and more confused and immediately chased after him, determined to prove her worth with her own strength.
“Stop right there.”
She quickly caught up, her left hand reaching out to use a technique from her arrest skills, preparing to catch Robin.
However, just as Lacey Willis’s hand was about to grab Robin’s head, a hand gently tapped her arm, causing a sharp pain to surge through it.
She had to back off.
After Lacey Willis recovered, she looked forward, somewhat unbelieving. “How did you catch up? Aren’t you a cripple? How could you possibly have caught up?”
Behind Robin was the limping Nick.
“Young lady, let me tell you a truth, those who think they’re smart on the battlefield are usually the first ones to die. Come on, I’m right here, if you can touch my clothes, I’ll admit defeat, and you can do whatever you want.”
Nick looked at Lacey Willis, dressed like a construction worker, simple but giving the impression of a formidable opponent.
Lacey Willis didn’t know what she was up against.
