Others were shocked.
Only then did they notice several black pawns behind Orson’s had formed a lethal composition.
Earlier, none paid attention to them. However, after Robin pressed his last pawn to lead them, they won against Orson’s pawns.
Robin’s pawns attacked Orson’s from both front and behind.
Orson had lost.
After returning to his senses, Orson studied the composition carefully and heaved a sigh. “You are indeed generous. You used your middle troops to lure me into your trap. If I had checked them earlier, you wouldn’t have won.”
“Most people think the same way, Master Orson,” Robin answered.
“Ehn… Haha… I agreed. Most people think like I do. The real good commander should be different from others. To defeat your foes, you must be innovative in strategies. Sometimes, unique ways can help you win a battle.”
“Thanks for the lesson, young man.”
“I’m not convinced, though. Let’s play another round.”
While the onlookers were still shocked, Orson didn’t make a scene shamelessly. He admitted his failure and thought he had learned something from Robin.
He said, “If you want to defeat your foes, you must be innovative in strategies.”
It sounded simple but was challenging to practice.
In the following rounds, Orson and Robin took turns to be the first ones to make a move. However, after the onlookers had accepted Orson’s failure, Orson was defeated repeatedly.
After another ten rounds, the night was out.
“Let’s call it a day.”
Orson checked on the sky and wanted to leave.
However, the onlookers pulled him back. One old man glared at him and snapped, “Don’t run away! You haven’t paid the young man. You used to win me many times. You lost the game today. Do you want to break your word?”
“Give the money to the young man. You owe him 240 dollars in total.”
“Exactly! Give it to him. You can’t deny it. The young man doesn’t look rich. He must be a poor kid. Orson, you cannot bully him.”
All the old men stopped Orson.
In the past, they had been defeated by Orson, so they were excited to see Orson lose today. Therefore, they insisted on watching him pay the young man before he ran away.
“I will pay him. Let go of me.”
Orson flicked his hand. Then he walked to Robin with a cheeky smile. “Young man, uh… I didn’t bring any cash today. Why don’t I…”
“How can you not have money?”
The onlookers were shocked and in disbelief. One old man searched in his pockets and found nothing.
“Stop it. I really didn’t bring a penny with me. I’ve been here for years. When did I lose before? So I didn’t have the habit of taking cash along. Doesn’t it make sense?” Orson explained.
Others had to agree with him.
Suddenly, Orson stood out from the crow while rubbing his hands, looking like he would do something evil. “Young man, I don’t have money, but I have a granddaughter. She’s 21 years old and charming. I can introduce her to you instead of paying the debt. What do you think?”
“Twenty-one? Orson, several years ago, you said your granddaughter was 21. Why is she still 21? Haven’t you looked at yourself before? I cannot imagine how charming your granddaughter can be.”
“How can you introduce her to this young man. You can’t harm him,” a bald man exposed Orson.
He was Orson’s close friend. The two old men always argued with each other. He didn’t lie, though. Almost six years ago, Orson bluffed to them his granddaughter was 21 and charming.
He repeated it to the young man again without changing the age.
None had seen Orson’s granddaughter before and doubted if he had one.
“You know nothing,” Orson snorted.
He turned to ask Robin, “What do you think, young man?”
“You don’t need to pay, Master Orson.”
Robin shook his head because he didn’t lack such funds.
Then he turned away.
“No, young man, I must keep my word. If I didn’t, those old men and women would laugh at me forever. Where do you stay? I’ll go to see you some other day.”
Orson caught up with Robin, unwilling to let him leave unless Robin answered his question.
“That words. I stay in No. 001 Eleanor Manor,” Robin answered before leaving.
Orson was taken aback for a while. He returned to the crowd in a daze and snorted at them, “You guys are too short-sighted. My granddaughter is…”
“Twenty-one and charming, right?”
“She never grows up, huh? Is she a spirit?”
“No. I don’t think he has a granddaughter. I firmly believe it. Orson is too evil. He has lied to us for years.”
Others kicked up a fuss.
Shortly after, Orson also took his stool and left. On the street, an overbearing Land Rover was pulled over to him. A woman wearing tight jeans with a perfect shape hopped off.
“Dad sent me to pick you up, Grandpa.”
“OK.”
Orson nodded. Staring at the woman, he muttered, “I didn’t lie. My granddaughter is pretty. Many admirers…”
He broke off, although he wanted to declare many admirers lined up to pursue her.
His granddaughter was Lacey, the most famous policewoman in Stillwater. Her admirers lay up from the hospitals in Stillwater to those in another city nearby. Her nickname was T-Rex among them.
Lacey was good-looking with a perfect figure, but she was like a rose with thorns. No man could conquer her so far.
“Well… Lacey, go to Eleanor Manor with me some other day. I made an interesting friend, although he was young.”
“Sure.”
“By the way, I lost when playing Go with him, so you were his prize.”
…
Robin walked along the river, enjoying the breeze. He still considered the Go games earlier, wondering if there were any flaws. Unlike Jeff, he was the general of the armed forces, so he had to think in more detail.
In seven years, he had experienced countless battles to become the most influential general. In Kisia, no one else was better at war than him.
Suddenly, a crippled mid-aged man was kicked to the ground, and his red potatoes for selling were also knocked over.
A group of gangsters with colorful hair was beating him. One man with an ear stud snapped, “You must pay the security fee today. Or I’ll beat you to death. Old bastard!”
