“Stop coming over! What do you want?”
Nina flinched in a panic.
“What do I want? Can’t you tell?”
Josh was riled up. He approached her with an evil laugh. “You know what? The soundproofing is excellent in this office. No one will come here. Bitch! How dare you…”
Before he finished his words, a loud bang sounded.
The office door was kicked open.
“The soundproofing is just so-so. So is the quality.”
Robin entered.
The office did have excellent soundproofing, but it was nothing for him.
“Robin! My dear brother-in-law!”
Nina seemed to see a lifesaving straw, trotting towards him immediately and hiding behind him.
“It’s you?”
Josh looked surprised.
He had met Robin in a coffee shop before. Miranda said he was the chairman of the board of the Robin-Sophia Group. Josh was scared shitless at that time.
However, Nina said he was her brother-in-law.
Earlier, Josh checked Nina’s background and knew Nina’s sister had married a scumbag, the live-in son-in-law.
Therefore, Josh realized he had been deceived the last time.
He had mistaken a good-for-nothing for the Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board, which was indeed ridiculous.
The thought made his face livid.
“You are just a live-in son-in-law of the Houry family.”
Josh glared at Robin in anger. However, after a thought, he calmed down. He wanted to gain Nina’s heart, so he should be nice to Robin.
Then Robin wouldn’t make any obstacles for him.
The next second, Josh left the office. Before leaving, he warned Nina, “I’ll give you some time to consider if you’ll keep your role.”
With his threat, he left.
“Humph!”
Nina glared at his receding figure.
Since she was safe, she looked at Robin and asked, “Robin Bailey, why are you here?”
“For some business.”
“You are just a security guard. What kind of business do you have? You must be here to visit me, right? Don’t be shy. Admit it. I won’t tell Elise. Besides, if I told her, she would praise you.”
Nina nudged Robin.
She believed Robin came to visit her but was too shy to admit it, so he made a lame excuse. After all, he was a security guard. What could he do?
She thought he had lied.
Robin admitted, “OK. I’m here to see you.”
“I knew it!”
Nina was excited and added, “Wait for me. I have another scene. After that, treat me to dinner.”
“I’m poor,” Robin refused.
“I don’t care. You must treat me to dinner.”
Nina rushed out excitedly.
“You cheeky bastard!” Robin muttered.
Ignoring her, he went upstairs to find Alastair to discuss the theme song, such as the content and the instruments, instead of composing practically.
Meanwhile, Nina put on the costume and played a scene where she needed to roll down a slope.
“Ready. Action!”
Nina hopped off, rolled down a slope, and cried in pain. After she finished acting, she thought she had done an excellent job.
However, the deputy director flicked his hand. “What a lousy scene! Do it again!”
“Yes, Mr. Moore.”
The staff members prepared for the scene again.
“OK.”
Nina didn’t complain. After all, it often took several times to play a scene well. She felt a slight pain in her body and patted the dirt to prepare for the scene.
On the slope, she hopped up and rolled down.
She only needed to let out a cry in pain without any lines. The camera didn’t focus on her face. It was a simple scene that didn’t require acting skills.
However, after the scene ended, the deputy director flicked his hand again. “That’s not OK. Again!”
“OK, Mr. Moore.”
Nina patted her costume again, quite understanding.
However, she rolled down the slope eight or nine times.
On the tenth time, all the crew members sensed something wrong. It was a simple scene, and usually, the actress needed to perform once. However, the deputy director insisted on asking Nina to repeat so many times.
They checked on the deputy director secretly, a mid-aged man with a big belly. He wore a cap. Under his mustache, his lips curled unhappily.
Others could tell he deliberately made trouble for Nina.
“Can you act or not? You’ve acted ten times but still couldn’t perform well. Again!” the deputy director snarled like a duck.
The crew got ready for the scene once again.
Gritting her teeth, Nina could tell there were many bruises on her body due to the rolling. She asked, “Mr. Moore, what’s wrong with my performance?”
She didn’t need to show her face or speak in this scene but only roll down the slope. Nina wondered what was wrong.
“Are you retorting to me? Who do you think you are? I’m the director. If you want to continue staying here, be obedient,” Kaiden Moore roared at her angrily.
Others bowed their heads, daring not to defend Nina.
“OK.”
Nina repressed her anger. She asked him to find out her problem. Then she would correct the mistake and do a better job. However, the deputy director only scolded her.
She must be obedient to him if she still wanted to stay on this crew. Or she would be kicked out.
Nina couldn’t do anything but continue acting.
After ten minutes, on the 30th time, Nina was evidently injured. Kaiden finally flicked his hand and said, “I wonder how you entered this crew. Come to my office. I’ll teach you. Let’s take a break.”
He gestured to let others rest.
Then he stood up and left the scene.
Nina couldn’t do anything but follow him.
After entering the deputy director’s office, she saw another man.
“Nina, you must be exhausted.”
It was Josh.
He passed a bottle of water to her with a bright smile.
“He’s your uncle. Did you ask him to give me a hard time purposely?”
Nina darted at Josh and the deputy directory. Only then did she recall Josh declared his uncle was the deputy director.
She boiled with rage.
“Let me make an introduction. This is my uncle, Kaiden Moore, the deputy director of this crew. My uncle wanted to polish your acting skill. If you don’t like it, I can remind him not to do it again.”
The bright smile didn’t fade off Josh’s face, but an evil intention was under it.
