Aurora couldn’t conceal the jealousy simmering inside of her, so she decided to turn and confirm her suspicions. She wondered what could have kept Alpha Malik, the cold king, in Xena’s clinic for so long. Just as she was about to head towards Morena’s clinic, her eyes locked onto the figure of the king approaching her.
A shiver ran down her spine as she felt her heart racing in her chest. She knew she shouldn’t feel this way, that her love for the king was forbidden and dangerous. But try as she might, she couldn’t resist the intense attraction she felt towards him. As the king drew nearer, Aurora’s mind raced with thoughts of what could happen if the king had found out about her identity as the masked girl.
King Malik stood in front of Aurora, he couldn’t help but be captivated by her beauty. Aurora had dressed up today, intentionally wanting to impress the king as the masked girl. She noticed the admiration on the king’s face and felt a flutter in her chest.
But immediately, the king noticed that Aurora had caught him admiring her and his expression turned cold.
“Where are you going?” The king asked, trying to hide his emotions.
“I was on my way to see Morena,” Aurora replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
“It seems like you’re friends with her,” the king remarked, trying to keep his tone casual.
Aurora nodded, feeling the weight of the king’s gaze on her. She couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement and nervousness at the same time.
The king’s heart was pounding as he watched Aurora nervously fidgeting before him. He knew he couldn’t let her know about his feelings for her, not yet. “I think it’s best if you return to the maid quarters, Morena is on her way to my chamber” he said, trying to sound stern.
Aurora’s heart sank at his words. She had hoped to spend more time with the king, but she knew better than to argue with him. “Yes, Your Majesty,” she said, bowing her head in respect.
As Aurora walked away, the king’s gaze lingered on her, filled with an unmistakable longing. He knew deep down that he was in love with her, but he couldn’t bring himself to accept it.
As he pondered his conflicted emotions, his thoughts drifted to Jaguar’s suggestion. Perhaps indulging in the pleasure of Aurora’s body would help to quell the growing feelings he had for her. After all, she was the same girl who had killed his father, someone he was supposed to hate.
As he sighed deeply, the king couldn’t shake off the thoughts of Aurora that occupied his mind. Despite being distracted by Xena’s case, he couldn’t help but wonder if there was something fishy about her supposed pregnancy.
The king continued on his tracks back to his chamber, he settled into his throne-like chair and began attending to petitions. He listened to the requests and concerns of his people, but his mind kept drifting back to the situation with Xena and Morena.
Suddenly, a loud knock banged on his door, interrupting his thoughts. He called out for the person to come in, and in walked Morena, the physician.
“Good evening, Your Majesty,” Morena greeted him, but the king did not immediately reply. He continued with what he was doing, making Morena wait in anticipation.
Morena stood nervously inside the king’s chamber, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of dread that was weighing heavily on her chest. Did the king blame her for what happened to Xena? Was he angry with her for using the infertility drugs without his knowledge?
She knew that the king could be stern and uncompromising, but deep down, she also knew that he had a kind heart. The last thing she wanted was to disappoint him or make him angry.
Her mind raced with anxious thoughts as she waited for the king to respond to her greeting.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he looked up from his work, acknowledged her presence, and the king rose from his chair, causing Morena to shiver with nerves. He walked towards her, and she couldn’t help but hold her breath, waiting for his reaction.
“Morena,” the king began, “did you use the infertility drugs that Queen Nneka asked you to use on the women?”
Morena’s ankle landed on the ground with a thud, her heart sank as she realized that the king had found out about her secret
She began to plead with him, but the king held up a hand to stop her.
She began to plead with him, her voice trembling with fear and regret, but he remained unmoved until the king held up a hand and carried her from the ground.
“I would have stopped it if I didn’t want you to use the medicine,” he said. “But I allowed it because I haven’t found someone eligible to be the mother of your children.” He said but he also made it clear that he did not condone her actions.
Morena breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that the king wasn’t angry with her.
The king continued, “I would have considered Xena, but I don’t love her, and I don’t like her recent ill character.”
Morena nodded in understanding, knowing that Xena’s behavior had caused her to lose favor with the king.
The king repeated the question again “Did you use the infertility medicine?”
Morena hesitated for a moment before finally saying, “Yes.”
The king furrowed his brow, “Then how come Xena is pregnant?”
“I don’t know, your majesty,” Morena replied, feeling a sense of unease.
The king then instructed her to test Xena again and confirm whether she had actually lost the baby.
Morena nodded meekly in agreement, feeling like a scolded child, but she felt relieved that the king wasn’t angry with her.
As she turned to leave, she couldn’t help but plead with him, “Please don’t be angry with me, Your Majesty.”
The king replied, “Don’t get worked up, Morena. I’m not angry with you.”
“Thank you my king” Morena uttered and finally exited his chamber.
