Aloha’s heart was in her throat as she drawled closer to the king’s chamber. She wondered why the king would call for her.
She hoped she hadn’t done something wrong again, just as she reached the front of the king’s chamber, she breathed deeply, trying to calm the anxiety brewing in her.
“Comes in”
The king’s voice came from his chambers, and she pushed herself inside.
She knitted her brows confused, seeing Mira and Tira kneeling in front of the king, their hands wrapped at the back, lowering their faces to the ground.
She wondered what they were doing in the king’s chamber.
Knowing how much Mira’s determination to destroy her made her shake inwardly, she just hoped she hadn’t said something that would cost her life.
Although she was afraid, still she tried to remain cool and calm in the king’s presence, she didn’t want Mira to know how fearful she was because of her presence with the king.
“I thought you had been warned not to call me Your highness… I’m not a lord over
a murderer” The king recalled what she hated to hear.
“I’m sorry, your Highness,” She said with gritted teeth…
She tried to suppress the anger forming in her, she preferred the king to remember her as a killer in privacy, not in front of her enemy.
What can she do? A king is giving out ideas, and a slave says he had an idea. The slave would end up in a dungeon.
The knowledge of the truth calmed her down, and she put it behind her and faced the reason she was called here.
“Three days ago, you were ordered to fill all the jars inside the palace, but in the process, someone threw the fetcher inside the well and poured your water away, and I rebuke you for it.
Likewise, that day, a maid slapped your face thinking you threw the fetcher inside the well,” He asked with his eyes boring into her.
Aloha’s heart fluttered, she wondered what was happening here.
The realization of the king calling, staring at her face, she felt like jumping on the king and applying kisses on his face.
“Is that true?” The king stated.
A smile brushed her lips, knowing the king had summoned them to punish them for her sake.
“Yes my king,” she said happily, she didn’t mind Mira and Tira’s deadly glare on her body.
“Can you identify the person who slapped you between these two?” The king said, and stretched his hands towards them.
His expression was unreadable, making it difficult for Aurora to understand what he was going to do to them.
“Is Tira Your Highness?” She shut her eyes, neglecting the apology Tira was saying through her eyes.
Slightly, she wished to help her, seeing the expression on her face, but she concluded that she didn’t be worth the help.
Portraying herself as a liar in the king’s presence is the last thing she ever wanted, she can’t save Tira and put herself in trouble again.
On the ground where Tira knelt, she felt like standing up and kicking Aloha in her face once again. She clenched her fist in fury, hoping for an opportunity to make her pay.
The King stood up and walked towards Mira, she shivered where she knelt, praying that no one would see her when she threw the fetcher inside the wall.
“Why did you throw the fetcher inside the well and ask Tira to slap your fellow maid, don’t you know that is wickedness?” The king asked, his unreadable expression burning a hole into her body.
The King stared at her intentionally, knowing she couldn’t lie with his powerful aura clinging to her neck.
“I’m sorry my king, I didn’t intend to do it, she killed our late…” Mira started pleading, shedding crocodile tears, wanting to use the late king’s death against her.
“Guards” The king cuts in, knowing what Mira wanted to do to him.
“Yes, your majesty” The second guard answered and walked inside
“Take them to the prison, let them sleep there for tonight, tomorrow morning take them to Neon, henceforth they are no more palace servants, they are to work on the farm” The king stated
What! Panic and fear struck them simultaneously. They started pleading, crawling towards where the king stood, wanting to beg him, but the guards stopped them before they could reach the king.
The guard was surprised by the king’s decree, he wondered why the king would support a murderer over the innocent maids who likely punished her because of the hatred they had for Aurora.
“What are you still waiting for?” The king asked the guard, he looked startled and dragged them out of the King’s chamber.
Upon their pleading, the king turned a deaf ear to them, he didn’t do it because he supported Aurora, but he punished them for their acts.
“Thank you, My king,” Aurora said happily, her cheeks blushing, although she was surprised, she never thought the king would give them that big punishment because of her.
“Your highness… Not my king, Moreover I didn’t do it for you, I hate wickedness and I want to avoid raising another killer inside the Palace,” The king said, expressionless.
Aurora bit her lips instantly, the happiness on her face disappeared, and gulped down.
She blames herself, thinking the king did it for her, she blames herself for not knowing her place.
Why would she think a whole king of the Uruk community, the most powerful king, would punish his servants because of a murderer like her?
She sneezed, back the tears wanting to come out of her eyes, and lowered her head slightly to the King.
Since there was no need for her to stay any longer, she wanted to disappear from his face, maybe the pain he struck her heart will reduce.
“What did you want me to do for you? I promised that I will fulfill one wish for you after the translation you did for me”.
“What?” Aurora mumbled as confusion clouded her features, she wondered the kind of person Alpha Malik was.
Did he learn how to make a woman cry and how to make them feel happy again?
