Aurora gasped, feeling nervous. She looked stunned, meeting with an empty bucket. She paced up and down, trying to comprehend what just happened.
”Where is the water, I fell inside the bucket?” She picked up the bucket, and looked inside, hoping for magic to happen.
“Who did this!?” She grumbled, tears gathered in her eyelids immediately, urging to pour down, as she recalled how stressful it was for her before she was able to fetch the water. The murderous beast in her awakened at that moment, she clenched her fist angrily, wanting to kill anyone who had just done this to her.
At that moment, a maid, called Tira, passed, holding a bucket to come and fetch water. She’s one of Mira’s minions, she walked past Aurora and brushed her, she was foaming in anger, but she let it go without sparing Tira a gaze. Tira hissed and dropped the bucket in her hand beside the well.
Wanting to pick up the fetcher, “Hey,” Tira called Aurora when she didn’t see the fetcher.
“Is there a clog in your ear?” Tira repeated when Aurora refused to reply to her. She was not pleased with the silence, she walked up to her angrily, feeling belittled by her, and pushed Aurora. Before she could realize what she had done, three consecutively slapped landed on Tira’s cheeks, and she fell flatly in a thud.
She held her cheeks, feeling pains all over her face, “Are you the one that does this, or your boss, Mira? Tell her, she has awakened the Scorpions in me, and it will surely bite her” Aurora said, with sheet rage in her eyes. Tira shuddered, she hadn’t seen that kind of anger on Aurora’s face. She stretched her hand, hoping she would help her to stand up, but Aurora turned her back, picked up the bucket, and walked away.
How is she going to explain to the king? The thought filled her heart, the five minutes Malik gave her had passed, and she was confused about what to say to him. Maybe she would explain to him, but she doubted the cold Malik would forgive her.
She breathed in and out, entering the king’s chamber from the backyard, she dropped the bucket, and walked into the king’s chamber, she met him in the same position she left him a while ago.
She turned her gaze, wanting to peek at the king’s expression, hoping to be able to figure out the king’s mood. Unable to read the king’s mood, he seemed off to her, like someone finding a solution to something urgent.
She stretched her neck, wanting to read the scroll in the King’s hand, she raised her brows after seeing a scroll scribbled in French words in his hand.
He can’t read French, why is he staring at it? Maybe he lied to me then when he said, the only language he can’t read is French.
She thought as she stayed in Malik’s presence like an obedient child listening to her mother’s warning. Aurora was flabbergasted on the day Malik told her he understood all languages except for French. She thought she had seen another person like her that loves understanding people’s language. This is one of the reasons she fell in love with Alpha Malik, she sees both of them as soul mates.
She scoffed absentmindedly, she seemed upset, thinking about how excited and happy the day the king told her.
Malik looked at her, hearing her scoffing in his presence made him angry. He wanted to stand up and punish her immediately, but he didn’t. Something nailed him to the couch he seatedon, Aurora changed to the masked girl in his presence, he looked at her intently, hoping to see Aurora, but still, he was seeing the masked girl. He rubbed his eyes with his two hands, wanting to see clearly.
“Why did you scoff?” A calm voice came out, he should speak angrily, but he heard himself speaking in a gentle voice.
“What is wrong with me?” The king thought. The reason he always sees the masked girl in Aurora confuses him a lot.
“I’m sorry your highness,” Aurora’s knee landed on the ground after it dawned on her, what she had done, begging for her life.
After some sickening silence, the king refused to talk, then she raised her head, expecting another torture from the King, she lowered as the king turned his head towards him.
“I’m not asking you to apologize, I’m asking you the reason behind your scoffing,” Another calm voice came out. Initially, Aurora would have wondered why the king was not shouting or yelling at her, but the fear of what the king would do to her didn’t allow her to think straight.
“I’m sorry, Your Highness,” Aurora pleaded again, but this time, she sounded as if she was crying.
“I haven’t beaten you nor have I tortured you yet, but don’t make me do it. Just tell me the reason you scoffed, and stop your fake cries” The King asked, but this time around, he asked in a husky voice, making Aurora know that he meant business now.
“I..… do. n ‘t…me…an . to s. of.. fed….,” She stammered.
“And I didn’t say you want to, I just want to know why,” Malik asked.
“I did it because you lied to me that you can’t read French, but the scroll in your hand is written in the French language…” Aurora said.
“How did you know it is written in French, can you read French?” Malik curt in, with an anticipation expression, he didn’t allow her to finish with her response, he raised his piercing eyes, burning a hole in Aurora’s body, anticipating to hear her say yes.
