“Do you know why I personally came to Shandale?” Candace Nance asked.
Kim shook his head. He truly didn’t know why. Given Candace Nance’s status, such a trivial matter shouldn’t require her personal intervention. A mere phone call from her would have sufficed, and he would have obediently followed her instructions.
“It’s because I want Esther to watch, with her own eyes, as Nance Group’s new product launches! To watch as she loses her husband! By the time Chester Group gets the data, it will be useless!” Candace Nance declared, her voice filled with confidence. “By then, the market will already be dominated by us, Nance Group. Chester Group will ultimately be trampled under the Nance Group’s feet!”
Kim felt a shiver run down his spine. He’d always looked down on women, but standing in front of Candace Nance, he felt an immense pressure. He felt as though under her gaze, he was completely exposed. No matter what he wanted to do, Candace Nance would see through it. Candace Nance was truly terrifying!
“Yes, I understand what I should do,” Kim said respectfully.
Candace Nance nodded in satisfaction. “As long as you handle this matter well, Nance Group can increase its orders by an additional billion this year!”
“Thank you, Miss Nance!” Overjoyed, Kim bowed respectfully and then promptly left.
A smug smile appeared at the corner of Candace Nance’s mouth. “Esther, this is what you get for competing with me for a man! I will forever let you know that you are not worthy to be with Chris. Only I am a good match for Chris!” Candace Nance’s eyes flashed with a hint of coldness. This woman, known as the Northern Business Queen, was finally showing her formidable side.
Meanwhile, at the research institute’s front desk, Esther had been waiting for a long while. After leaving Star Entertainment, she had come directly to the research institute, hoping to get the data as soon as possible so that the new product could be launched sooner. If Nance Group’s new product were to launch first, it would spell disaster for Chester Group.
The receptionist kept blocking Esther, claiming that the director was not in. Esther wanted to say that the director’s car was outside and he was in the building, but he was refusing to meet her. It seemed like he was trying to assert his dominance.
“Thank you,” Esther replied politely, nodding to the receptionist before turning to leave.
When Chris Shelby saw Esther emerge from the building, he knew that her mission had been unsuccessful. “How did it go?” he asked.
“He refused to see me,” Esther responded with a shake of her head. She knew that Kim was in the building, but if he didn’t want to see her, what could she do? She couldn’t exactly force her way in. That wasn’t in her nature.
Chris Shelby let out a cold laugh. In fact, he had guessed this outcome long before. Even before he arrived, he had received news that Candace Nance had come to Shandale. The reason was clear to him – to prevent Chester Group from obtaining the market data. Nance Group was the research institute’s biggest client. Kim would never risk offending Nance Group for the sake of Chester Group. Therefore, his refusal to see Esther was to be expected.
“You go back first, I’ll handle this,” Chris said, his voice filled with determination.
