James POV
I looked up from the floor and saw an unfamiliar look of not wanting to let go on on Alpha Kayden’s face.
“I am sorry Alpha Kayden.” I apologized once more and he patted my shoulder.
“It is fine, I also once did worse.. I know what you are feeling but then still yet, you fought for the entire pack, the entire Wolfdom and in the process even lost someone, there is no way I can let it go just like that, you are also a hero, you should tell me what you want.” he requested from me and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
“I really do not know what I wish to request for from you Alpha Kayden, you have treated me like a friend in the past weeks and I am grateful for that so much. You really do not have to do anything more for me Alpha Kayden.”
“You are not leaving here if I do not do something for you.” he said to me and I sighed softly.
“You do not need to talk right now, you can talk later on when you think about what you want from me.” he said to me and walked away from where I was.
I stood at the spot where he left me for minutes doing and thinking about literally nothing, my mind was as blank as whatever.
I sighed softly and walked back into Cassie’s room. That was where I resided now, trying to grasp her scent each day and night before it would fade away from the room. I wanted to have enough of her even though I knew that I would never have enough of her.
I found my way into her room and picked up the golden chain that was on the table, I sniffed in her scent from the chain and sniffed back tears too.
Kayden’s POV
I walked into the room and met Mantha in the room also.
“You are not watching the movie with mum anymore?” I asked her.
“Actually… She told me…. she told me to come join you and told me that was how the perfect woman should be…. she… She wants me to be with you in the room every time.” Mantha said and I chuckled as I walked over to her.
“My mum can be really naughty.” I smirked.
“But then I can still be even more naughty than she is.” I added and kissed her hard, pulling her towards me.
She responded to the kiss immediately and in seconds, our tongues were involved in a hot fight for dominance.
I tried to navigate my way to the bed as we kept on kissing till we bumped into something making us break the kiss.
“Shit!” I groaned.
“Maybe… Maybe we should talk more seriously?” Mantha asked me, trying to get out of my grip.
“Talk more seriously? What do you mean? Do you mean this expression is not serious enough? You want me to be more serious on bed?” I winked at her.
“There is something I want us to talk about.”
“What can’t wait?” I groaned as she tried to get out of my grip once more.
“The pack.” she replied and I rolled my eyes.
“Everything is cool right now, what else is up with the pack?” I asked her.
“I mean the Green Moss pack, it has no alpha. I am supposed to be the Alpha but then I am here with you.” she said to me and I sighed softly.
I really never thought about the fact that she was also the leader of a pack and that she had a responsibility to the people of her pack too but then how was I supposed to let go of her to go and lead the Green Moss? The Green Moss was not even nearby, they were very far away from my own pack.
“What am I supposed to do Jay?” I asked him.
“Ask her what she wants to do about it, her opinion matters a whole lot.” Jay replied me.
“What if she wants to leave then?”
“I trust that Mantha would not make such decision.”
“What if she does? What if she wants to go and take….”
“Cut this off and just ask her already.” Jay growled and I held Mantha’s hands in mine gently.
“What do you want to do about it?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“You are the owner of your own life Mantha, and I trust that you know best how you want to live your own life.” I replied her.
“I… I….” She stuttered while I listened intently, waiting for her choice.
“I do not think that I can let go of you.” she said to me and my lips parted into smiles.
“See… I know it, I just knew it that she would always choose me over anything” I said to Jay.
“Isn’t this guy that was feeling so nervous just now?” Jay mocked me.
“But still yet, the pack can not stay without a leader, it needs a leader, a competent one.” Mantha added and I nodded.
“You have someone in mind already?” I asked her and she slowly smiled.
“Of course I do because he is the only I can trust to handle the pack perfectly.” she replied me.
“And who is that supposed to be?” I asked her.
“You know him anyways.”
*
I pushed open the door to Cassie’s room along with Mantha by my side.
James was staring out of the window with his bags by his sides, he was already ready to leave and it was obvious.
“I see you packed your things.” I started, bringing him out of his reverie that was definitely unpleasant.
“Y.. yes I did Alpha Kayden.” he replied me as he stood up from the chair immediately.
“Have you thought of what you want from us?” I asked him.
“I… I really do have no requests to ask from you.”
“No, you have to….” Mantha wanted to start.
“Let Kayden talk instead.” she said, nudging me slightly.
“Since you are finding it hard to find something you want us to do for you, we have decided that you would be appointed the next Alpha of the Green Moss Pack.”
