Chapter 106

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Kayden’s POV
I petted Samantha to sleep and ensuring that she was asleep before leaving the room.
Everything still seemed unbelievable to me! For years, there had been slavery and I was just knowing about it.
I picked up my phone and stared into space, doing nothing in particular.
I could only imagine what Samantha and the others would have faced in the hands of those that had held them captive. Samantha was just two when she was taken away and that was proof that this slavery of a thing had been in existence since the reign of my dad.
The door opened and I scented out mum.
“Hey, son.”
“Mum,” I called.
“Are you okay? Did you and Samantha fight?” She asked and I shook my head to indicate the opposite.
“I am doing just fine,” I replied her.
“You know I am not going to believe that lie,” she said to me.
“Mum, you do not need to worry about this just yet. I would solve this myself.” I replied her.
“Yeah, you have always been great at dealing with things,” she said to me.
“But then if you just need my help or my brains, I will be available,” she added and I nodded.
“Sure.” she exited the room and I raked a hand through my hair.
I was thinking that I was dealing with just wolf hunters, if only I knew that there was even slavery to deal with.
“I think I am going to be needing mum now,” I said to Jay who was not saying a word, perhaps he was too angry to get out words.
I walked out of the room and found mum.
“You need my help already?” She asked and I nodded.
“Something that happened in the past?” She asked.
“Kind of….. Do you know of the green moss pack?” I asked her and she furrowed her brows.
“The green moss….” She mumbled while I stared at her intently.
“It sounds so familiar…..”
“What are you talking about?” Dad asked, walking in on us.
“The green moss pack,” I replied him.
“The green moss… It’s extinct now.” dad replied with a heavy sigh.
“I know, I just wanted to know how it happened,” I said to him.
“It was totally unclear, there are traces that it is done by the wolf hunters but I never succeeded in finding any of them, it was like they all disappeared from the earth,” he replied.
“Was there anything suspicious about this pack? Something that could have attracted the supposed wolf hunters?” I asked him.
“The green moss pack was not really strong but there was a prophecy that their next-generation would turn out strong enough to take up the position of the beta of the Wolfdom.” dad replied and I understood, even more, the strength of Mantha.
“Any other thing about the pack?” I asked him.
“Nothing much about the pack, the wolf hunters must have targeted the pack since it was still weak and vulnerable,” he replied and I nodded.
“Thanks, dad.” I turned to leave but his voice stopped me.
“Why are you asking these questions?” He asked.
“Just asking….. who knows? I might succeed in bringing back the extinct pack.” I replied to him, leaving him pretty confused as I took the stairs and returned to my study.
I grabbed my phone and went into the wolves platform, I searched for more information about the Green Moss pack and found the news on the platform that announced its extinction.
Staring at it gave me a weird and creepy feeling. No matter how I looked at it, the incident seemed similar to what had just happened to the Shadow pack.
“It had been cleared that the Green Moss pack was not attacked by wolf hunters but greedy wolves who decided to take the weaker ones into slavery so could it be that the Shadow pack was also attacked by this same slave masters under the pretence of wolf Hunters?” I asked Jay.
“Finally! I can’t wait to rip their heads off! Where the heck is Davis already?!” Jay groaned and I took a look at my wristwatch.
“He really should have been here already.”
“Jay, if this is right, it would mean all this while we have been digging the wrong hole. Those wolves slave masters intentionally dropped the note that indicated wolf hunters so I would search for humans instead and never find out about them till it will get to the point where I would have no option but to let go of this issue!”
“That must have been their thoughts, too bad their plan is getting all foiled and their lives are getting lost.” Jay seethed.
“But then, what if this time it is really wolf hunters? Then I would have two different groups of people to take care of.”
“Alpha Kayden.” I heard Davis voice as he walked into my room.
“You called for me.”
“Get yourself ready, we would be going to the Lock Heart’s pack,” I said to him.
“The lock heart’s pack? For what?” He asked.
“You talk too much. We have no time to waste, I would tell you all about it on our way there.” I replied him.
“Okay.” he turned to leave and at that moment, the door opened and Mantha walked in, her eyes were still a bit swollen from her tears.
“Hey… You’re awake already” I mumbled and kissed her forehead.
“Yeah,” she mumbled.
“What are you planning on doing?” She asked and I heard the door shut indicating Davis exit.
“I am going to the lock heart’s pack, it would be better if you can follow me to point out the place to me,” I replied to her.
“Of course, I would follow you. I can hardly wait for those cruel-hearted monsters to fall in front of me with their blood staining the very floor that my blood has stained!” She seethed and I could feel her anger.
I pulled her into my arms and patted her back comfortingly.
“I would make sure you rip their heads off yourself….. That is if you do wish.” I replied to her and kissed her forehead.
“Of course, that would be the greatest gift I can get,” she replied, her eyes turning a darker shade.
I watched her move towards my table and sat on the table, staring at nothing in particular.
I sat on the chair next to the table and picked up my phone, going through the net once more.
“What are you searching for?” She asked me.
“Wolf hunters attacked the Shadow’s Pack recently, I am trying to figure out if they are truly wolf hunters or if they are also slave masters,” I replied truthfully.
“Recently? When exactly?” She asked.
“A day to the day we met.” I replied her and she leaned backwards.
“On that very day, new inmates joined us,” she said.
“New inmates….. The same slave masters!”
