Chapter 99

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Samantha’s POV
I waited anxiously, playing with my fingers and hoping that I had spent below a second to shape-shift
“Samantha spent 1. 05 seconds to shapeshift so the winner of this round is Lauren from the blue moon pack!”
My knees went weak and I slipped to the floor immediately. Cassie helped me up, tears were clouding my eyes.
I hated being a loser again.
“It’s okay,” Cassie said to me comfortingly.
I sniffed back tears and dragged my legs off the arena.
“I am sorry that I disappointed you.” Cara apologized.
“It’s not about you,” I replied her.
“It’s all me, if only I had taken over faster, things would not have turned out this way,” she said and I plopped to a chair that Cassie helped me with.
“Cassie,” I called with a cracking voice.
“C’mon, there is still the third round,” she said to me.
“B… But…..”
“I would go to my room right now,” I said to her, got up from the chair and headed to my room, dragging my legs.
I got to my room and changed my clothes, not bothering to take a bath, I was too weak for that.
“Mantha.” I heard Kay’s voice call while I stared at the lockets.
“Who knows? Maybe I would not get to give you to him.” I mumbled and closed the drawers.
The door opened and Kay barged in.
Seeing him pushed me over the edge and a few drops of tears dropped from my eyes.
“I am… I am sorry.” I stuttered, looking at the floor.
“Sorry for what? It ain’t your fault,” he said, carrying me from where I was sitting and hugging me tightly.
I threw my hands around him, pulling him to me tighter.
“I am sorry I did not win,” I mumbled and he patted my back.
“To me, you are the winner, shapeshifting does not really matter to me. To me, you are always the winner,” he said to me.
“But still… I… I” he dropped me and made me look into his eyes.
“You might have lost the contest this time around but you won something else, the score is 2 to 1, you are still leading,” he said to me and I pouted slightly.
“What did I win?”
“You won my heart,” he replied and my face flushed.
I rushed into his arms once more.
“That does count?” I asked.
“Why would it not count? That is actually the most important thing… That is what counts the most.” he replied and kisses my forehead.
“You sure do know how to make me feel better,” I mumbled.
“Who would if I do not?”
“Are you sure you are not annoyed or disappointed?” I asked him and he shook his head.
“I am not at all, I’m so proud of you that you can be that good in a week,” he replied and ruffled my hair.
“Take a look at your messed up hair,” he said and packed my hair once more.
I was even too disorganized to protest against the act.
A knock came on the door.
“That is sure Davis,” Kayden said and moved to the door.
“You can do better Mantha, when you win the third round, I would be the one to throw the blankets around you,” he assured and opened the door widely.
“Alpha Kayden.” Davis bowed slightly.
“Good day,” I greeted him.
“Good… Good day,” he mumbled a response with a small smile on his face
“Okay, I would leave now,” Kay said and the both of them walked out.
I sighed softly and took myself out of the room. I returned to the spot where we were to wait and Lauren had this really wide smile.
“I am going to make sure I wipe that smile off her face,” Cara swore.
“That is something so sure,” I mumbled, taking my seat.
“How does it feel to lose?” Lauren’s annoying voice came.
“It does not feel so good. Now, I know what you felt when you lost the first time and what you are about to feel yet again, knowing the feeling, I would love to apologize to you in advance because you are going to feel it again.” I replied to her and she let out a laugh.
“I think those should be my lines loser.”
I shut my eyes and tried to clear off my head. Doing it was quite refreshing as I felt my body strengthen especially Cara.
“We just have to do one thing, focus on the spots we hit her when she was human, it would definitely still hurt,” Cara said to be a small smirk appeared on my face.
“Why didn’t I think about that?”
“Because I was destined to.”
“The third round of the contest is about to commence. May we have the two contestants here?”
I got up from my seat readily and Lauren did the same.
We both walked to the arena, there was no cheering this time around. it seemed like every single person was tense while trying to guess what would be the outcome of the contest.
“I announce the beginning of the contest!”
“Always ready?” I asked Cara.
“I disappointed you before but I would not do that again,” Cara responded.
I and Lauren walked towards each other with a death glare, we increased our pace and burst into our wolf forms.
I approached her cautiously, I as usual was not going to take the first lead and it seemed like Lauren had noticed that was my strategy and she was not willing to take the first lead to.
“Taking the enemy unprepared.”
I leapt on her, she was definitely not expecting that and we both rolled on the floor.
She ran off to a farther point and charged at me running towards me, I moved away from her and stretched my leg forward.
Her speed was too much so she could not hold back and she stumbled against my leg, running to the floor.
I ran to her and hit her away with my snout. She fell to the floor and stood up weakly, I was quite surprised cause from her strength she was not supposed to be weak yet.
I ran to her weak self and pushed her to the floor. She hardly reacted and I kicked her away, she rolled on the floor, her fur picking up dust.
I was quite surprised by how easy this was.
I moved to where she was and raised up my hind leg, I stepped right at her leg and it made a loud shattering noise.
Hell! I had just shattered her bone.
She let out a loud howl and growl in pain while I moved backwards.
She tried to stand but she was unable to anymore.
“Samantha!!!!!!” Cassie and James screamed and the screams erupted loudly.
My name filled the air and I ran around the arena doing a victory run.
I ran around and around and raised my snout, letting out a loud howl calling for my mate.
I let out another loud howling and saw Kay run down from his spot, he jumped over the barricades, shapeshifting in the process. He landed in the arena, a wolf and approached me.
We gazed into each other’s eyes and I could feel Cara’s great happiness.
We both let out a loud howl and walked to each other, we wrapped our necks around each other and let out another loud howl.
Now, nothing is stopping me from being with Kayden!
