” Even after all he did?? Ava, why? Has he got something on you?? ” Maggie pressed Ava to tell her the truth.
Ava shook her head ” He got nothing on me, I just want to help him. Try to understand please ” She pleaded with Maggie.
” Have you informed Alex about this? ” Maggie asked instead
Again, Ava shook her head ” Not yet, I’ll meet with Hunter first, hear what he has to say and all that ”
Maggie nodded, pretending to understand but Ava knew what the old lady had in mind. She’d tell Alex and Ava didn’t want that so she thought of pleading with her.
” You can’t fool me Maggie, I know you’d tell Alex very soo. Please don’t, I have to do this on my own. I should figure out all these on my own ” She added and took Maggie’s hands in hers.
Maggie stared at her for some minutes. She couldn’t refuse her, they both knew that.
She sighed ” Alright I won’t, but promise me something? ”
” What’s that? ” Ava asked eagerly.
” You’ll text every five minutes, I don’t trust that boy ” Maggie stated her condition and Ava readily agreed.

As Ava walked in the cafe, she spotted Hunter sitting at a table near the window, his gaze fixed on the passing people outside.
Their eyes met as she approached, and for a moment, the weight of unspoken words hung heavy in the air. Taking a deep breath, Ava settled into the seat opposite Hunter.
” I’m here ” she said quietly, her eyes searching his face for any hint of deceit.
” I appreciate you coming ” Hunter began, his eyes filled with remorse. ” I owe you an explanation-a proper one ”
He recounted the events from years ago, his voice quivering with emotion. He detailed the coercion, the threats, and the fear that had driven him to betray his closest friend. Ava listened intently, her heart torn between the pain of the past and the sincerity in Hunter’s words.
” I’ve spent every day regretting what I did ” Hunter continued, his voice raw with emotion. ” I know I can’t erase the hurt I caused, but I want to make things right. I want to earn your trust again, Ava. Please, give me that chance ”
Ava remained silent for a moment, contemplating his words. The café hummed with distant chatter, but in that moment, all she could hear was the echo of their shared history.
Finally, she spoke, her voice tinged with a mixture of vulnerability and resolution, ” I don’t know if I can forgive you completely, Hunter. But I’m willing to try ”
Hunter’s eyes welled up with gratitude and relief. ” Thank you, Ava. I won’t let you down again, I promise ”
As they parted ways that evening, a glimmer of hope flickered in Ava’s heart-a chance for reconciliation, a possibility to rebuild what was once lost. Hunter walked away with determination, committed to proving his sincerity and working towards redemption.
Their journey toward healing had only just begun, but the first steps toward forgiveness and reconciliation had been taken, leaving behind the remnants of pain while embracing the possibility of a renewed friendship

As the evening settled in, Ava sat on the couch in the large living room, flipping through the pages of a book. Alex, sat across from her, his gaze fixed on his laptop screen as he worked on a project. The atmosphere was calm, the soft glow of the lamp casting a warm light around them.
Out of the blue, Alex glanced up from his laptop, his expression furrowed with concern. ” Ava, can I talk to you about something? ”
Ava looked up, her brow furrowing slightly at the seriousness in Alex’s tone. ” Of course, what’s on your mind? ”
” It’s about Hunter ” Alex began cautiously, choosing his words carefully. ” I know he reached out to you, but I’m worried. I don’t think you should trust him again, especially after what happened in the past ”
Ava’s demeanor shifted, her defensive instincts kicking in. ” Hunter was coerced into betraying our friendship, Alex. He didn’t want to do it. He’s genuinely sorry, and he deserves a chance to make things right ”
” I get that you want to believe in him ” Alex responded, concern evident in his voice. ” But what if it’s just another ploy? He could hurt you again, Ava. I don’t want to see you go through that pain once more ”
Ava shook her head, her tone resolute. ” I know it’s hard for you to understand, but Hunter was in a difficult situation. He was threatened, Alex. I can’t turn my back on him when he’s trying to make amends ”
” I just don’t want you to get hurt ” Alex insisted, reaching out to gently hold Ava’s hand. ” You mean the world to me, and I care about your well-being ”
Ava sighed softly, feeling torn between her loyalty to Hunter and her boyfriend’s genuine concern. ” I appreciate your concern, Alex, but I need to do this. Hunter was my childhood friend, and I owe it to our history to at least give him a chance ”
Alex nodded, his worry evident, but he respected Ava’s decision. ” Okay, I understand. Just promise me you’ll be cautious, alright? I don’t want to see you hurt either ”
Ava squeezed his hand, offering a reassuring smile. ” I promise. Thank you for caring, Alex. It means a lot to me ”
” You’re too soft hearted, babe . Angel is still on the loose, what if she sent him to break through your resolve? ” Alex asked in frustration.
She shook her head firmly ” Not possible, Alex ”
Alex nodded ” Okay, but please be careful ”
Their conversation lingered in the air, the tension easing slightly as they both understood each other’s perspectives. Despite Alex’s apprehension, Ava remained determined to support Hunter in his quest for redemption, hoping against hope that her faith in her childhood friend wouldn’t lead to another heartache.
