Alex returned home from a successful business trip, eager to resume work. He unpacked and settled back into his routine, diving into pending tasks and catching up on missed meetings.
One afternoon, Jack, casually strolled into his office.
He greeted ” Hey, Alex! Back from your trip, huh? How did it go? ”
” It went better than expected, actually. Secured the deal we’ve been chasing for months ” Alex replied.
” Heard about your love scandal ” His brother teased and helped himself to a seat.
One glare from Alex had him raise his hands in surrender ” Hey hey, I was kidding yunno ” Jack said quickly and laughed.
Alex eyed him ” You know It’s not true, I would never think of doing that ”
Jack winked ” Yeah I know, Ava will have your head if you ever think of doing that to her ” and he laughed.
” Yeah yeah, I know ” Alex agreed and both of them were silent for some minutes until Jack inquired about his trip.
They discussed the successful venture, highlighting key moments and challenges faced during the trip. Alex’s excitement and satisfaction were evident as he narrated the experience to Jack.
Jack clapped ” That’s fantastic news! I’m proud of you, boy. How’s Ava doing? You two seem inseparable ”
Alex’s expression softens at the mention of his girlfriend.
He answered ” She’s great, as always. We’re doing really well. In fact, I’ve been thinking about taking our relationship to the next level ”
Jack’s eyes widened ” To the next level? What do you mean?? Is it what I’m thinking?? ”
Alex smirked ” You’ll find out soon ”
” Ugh… You’re one secretive asshole ” Jack spitted out, faking annoyance.
To his surprise, Alex seemed to be cool with his brother’s words as he neither rolled his eyes nor glare at him.
” Come on Jack, I’m not even sure yet. I want her and want her to always be with me. I don’t know what to do ” Alex voiced out his worries.
Jack smiled ” You know what to do bro, you said it yourself. So don’t be afraid and take your relationship to the next level like you said ”
” You sure? ” Alex asked, sounding unconvinced.
Jack nodded, offering a supportive smile ” Of course ”
” She’s a keeper, man. You seem genuinely happy with her ” He added
Alex nodded, knowing everything Jack said was true ” Absolutely. She’s been my rock through all the hectic schedules and business trips ”
Their conversation shifted back to business matters, delving deeper into future plans and potential expansions. They brainstormed ideas and exchanged opinions on different strategies.
As the day progressed, they continue to chat about family, reminisce about childhood memories, and share updates on other personal matters.
Eventually, the evening drew near, and Jack was getting ready to leave. He promised to catch up again soon.
” Good talking to you, bro. And hey, let me know when you’re planning to pop the question to Ava! ”
Alex, noticing the brightness in Jack’s demeanor, inquired about his brother’s family life.
” By the way, Jack, how are things with Mabel and Liam? ”
Jack’s smile widened as he sat down and leaned back in his chair, visibly pleased by the mention of his family.
” Things are great, actually. Mabel’s been amazing lately. She’s been showering Liam with so much attention, it’s heartwarming to see ” He narrated with a smile pasted on his face.
” That’s wonderful to hear! Liam must be thrilled to have his mom’s undivided attention ” Ava put in, glad to hear things were good with his brother’s family.
Jack nodded enthusiastically, a proud glint in his eyes.
” Absolutely! He’s been all smiles lately. Mabel’s really gone above and beyond, especially with my hectic work schedule ” He told Alex happily.
Alex acknowledged Mabel’s efforts with a nod of appreciation.
” She’s remarkable, Jack. You just didn’t notice then, You’re lucky to have her ” Alex said
Jack replied ” Oh, I know. I couldn’t ask for a better partner. But enough about me, let’s get back to your business trip. Any memorable moments? ”
” Hmmm, not really ” Alex said thoughtfully and added ” The only person in my mind when I was on that business trip was Ava. I didn’t dare to stare at other ladies ”
” Yeah sure ” Jack muttered sarcastically and Alex threw him a glare.
” I told you Dawn and I are just friends ” He snapped.
Again, Jack nodded without a word.
” Get out of my office ” Alex said angrily, tired of his brother’s joke already.
” Hey wait! ” Jack shouted just as Alex was about to drag him out physically.
Alex took a pause and eyed his brother warily ” What is it now? ”
” I believe you, alright? I was just pulling your legs earlier ” Jack said with a serious face and Alex stared at him for some time, waiting for him to burst into laughter but when that didn’t happen, he sighed.
” Alright, just get out of my office. As you can see, I’m busy ” He told Jack
Jack pouted ” But I just told you the truth, can’t I stay here with you love? ”
Alex made a disgusted face ” Eww. Find your way out of my office Jack, I’ve got no time for all these ”
” Besides, don’t you have a company to run? ” He added ” Why did you come here in the first place? ”
” You’re so heartless ” Jack said with a hiss and got up. He meant no harm when he said that and Alex got the joke.
” Yeah I am, and I got that from you ” Alex laughed.
” Shut up. I’m off anyway ” Jack said and turned away.
Alex chuckled, bidding Jack farewell before returning to his work, thoughts swirling with both professional ambitions and personal aspirations.
