Book:THE BILLIONAIRE'S WIFE Published:2024-5-31

CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR.
Adele and Jamal returned home quite late from the walk. They enjoyed a great time, eating random roadside foods, and ice cream, and playing roadside games as well. It was fun and Adele forgot about her talk with Shannelle.
When they returned home, he waited for Adele to fall asleep before going to his bedroom to talk with his very stubborn sister.
He let out a heavy sigh once he got to her room door. He couldn’t believe he was going to go in there to talk to her. The last time he ever got into Shannelle’s bedroom was more than fifteen years ago. He has no business with her room so he never got in there.
“Go away!” Shannelle replied when he knocked on the door. He took a step closer and leaned towards the door.
“Shannelle, let me in.”
“So you can scold me for telling your wife the truth? No way! Just go back to her!”
“I give you to the count of three to open this door Shannelle, if not you’ll regret it. One!” He started the countdown.
“Jamal I don’t want to talk to you, by the way it’s late. Let’s do this…”
“Two!” Jamal continued and in no time, Shannelle opened the door.
“What?” She barked. Jamal quietly pushed her aside and stepped into the bedroom. He looked around and cringed at the sight of all the brightly colored stuff and pink walls.
“Who paints their room pink?” He murmured inaudibly as he kept looking around. His eyes caught the portrait of Henry Cavill and he just chuckled and stayed quiet. Shannelle quickly closed the door and turned to face him, with her arms crossed over her breasts.
“What do you want?” She rudely asked.
“Shannelle, I know mum and dad spoiled you, but right now you are under my roof, and I take care of you. I will not condone any form of disrespect from you. Now fix that attitude!” He ordered and immediately, Shannelle stood straight tall, releasing her crossed arms from her chest and adjusting the look on her face.
“Now, that’s better!” He told her and she twisted her lips, but she did not say anything for fear of what her brother would do to her.
“What brings you here?” she asked, calmly.
“I think you know why I’m here, Shannelle. I think you know.” He calmly told her.
“Look, I didn’t mean to snap at her okay…”
“You didn’t just snap, you were extremely rude to her and you said things you were no supposed to say. Things you know nothing about.”
“Oh yeah? She asked, raising her left brow. “I might not know everything, but I know that she is a gold digger. She left you for hurting her, but when she learned of all the things you had accomplished, she came rushing back like nothing ever happened. She is only here for your money and nothing else!” She fired and Jamal and his stomach churned in anger. He clenched his fists by his side and sighed in order to calm himself.
“Shannelle, come here.” He led her to the sitting area of her bedroom. “Sit down.” He instructed and Shannelle obeyed. He knew if he did not explain things to her properly, she would never know what really happened and she will keep talking trash.
“What now?”
“One year ago, I made Adele lose our unborn child, I’m sure you know about that.”
“Yeah, that’s the story I know, but I don’t believe it. You will never hurt what’s yours.” .
“But I did. It wasn’t an intentional act though, but I did hurt what was mine and I lost it. Shannelle this is point where you ask me what happened. You can’t be that heartless to not want to know.”
“I was just about to ask.” She made clear and Jamal exhaled in relief.
“Thank God. I’m not going to go into detail. Out father put me in a big mess. He saw me as a threat in the conglomerate so he decided to ruin me. I had no idea that was his plan. He made me sign documents and run errands that would implicate me if reported to the police. He was planning to completely tarnish my reputation at the conglomerate. Danielle was the one who made me realize what was going on. I don’t know how she did it, but she stole all the documents from father which he had against me and used them to blackmail me. You must have noticed I didn’t treat Adele nicely in the past, that was because I was trapped and I needed to act in a certain way, according to Danielle’s wish. She used the documents to manipulate me and she was the reason why Adele and I had that fight which result to her losing our child. Adele was heartbroken and fed up, so she decided to leave as you know. I tried to go after her, to win her back, but it seemed I was doing more harm than good. She threatened to slit her throat with a knife once and that was when I realized I needed to give her space. I waited for one year. I didn’t contact her, I didn’t go to see her. It was one hell of a year. After that year I approached her again and started begging her and after explaining everything to her, she decided to forgive me and that’s why we are back home. Shannelle, why am I telling you all this? It is to make you understand that Adele is not a gold digger and that next time you ever address her as such, you won’t like what I’ll do to you. This is a warning.” He said, giving Shannelle a serious look and she quickly nodded her head.
She had so many questions buzzing in her mind.
She wanted him to shed more light on the problem he had with his father and Danielle’s involvement in it. Danielle had never mentioned anything as such to her so at that moment, she was confused.
“You look confused.” Jamal pointed out and ste nodded.
“I am. The issue about dad and Danielle being involved, it is not clear at all.”
“It doesn’t have to be. The issue has already been settled and I have made up my mind not to tell you about it, but I had to bring it up after seeing how you treat Adele. Everyrhing is good now.”
“Okay, if you say so.” She agreed and Jamal took her hands in his and kissed them and that action shocked Shannelle. She looked at him with her eyes and mouth open, completely mortified.
Jamal just smiled and kissed her hands again and this time around, she seized them away from his hold. Jamal laughed hard.
“What the hell! What has come over you? You don’t do these things!”
“I know, but you are my sister. The one and only sister I have and I don’t tell you, but I love you. I love you very much that’s why I’m taking all this crappy attitude of yours. That’s why I’m being very patient with you. Shannelle you are being very mean to Adele and it’s not good. I should throw you out so she can live happily in her home, but I don’t have the courage to do so. I’m just begging you now to stop insulting her. She is my wife and you know deep in your heart that she is a good wife. She is a good person. Please, try to get along with her. Please, I’m begging you. Don’t push me to do something I’ll regret.”
“Hmmm.” Shannelle nodded. “I’ll try.”
“Don’t try, do your best.” He corrected and she nodded.
“Got it.”
“And for that Henry of a guy, he’s getting the punishment he deserves. By now, I’m sure he regrets ever trying to mess with you.”
“Thank you very much for looking after me, Jamal. Thank you.” She thanked him from the depth of her heart and Jamal just nodded.
“Anytime, sweety.”
“So, what are you going to do with Danielle? She was his accomplice.”
“Don’t bother yourself about Danielle, I’ll handle her. She’s going to pay as well. For now, focus on finding ways to fix that attitude of yours and of course, how you treat my wife. I mean it Shannelle.”
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.”
“Is that a promise that you will be good to her?”
“No it’s not. But like I said, I’ll try.”
“You better try, because I don’t want to be put in a position where I have to choose one between the two of you because I will choose her…. Yes!” He insisted when he saw Shannelle’s surprised look. “Uh-huh, I will choose her over you. So don’t push me to the wall. It’s an advice, it’s a warning and at the same time a threat, so beware!” He said, rising from the sofa and Shannelle did the same. “I’ll take my leave now, good night.”
“Good night brother.” She wished him and he walked out of the bedroom, feeling relieved.
He sincerely hoped that he had spoken some sense into Shannelle and that she would change her ways.
