CHAPTER EIGHTY-SEVEN.
Shannelle was taken straight home, while Henry was taken to prison on Jamal’s orders. He told Adele about what happened and she pleaded to come along with him to the prison to see Henry and he accepted.
On their way to prison to see Henry, Jamal was driving the car attentively. He usually took that task, namely driving his highness, extremely seriously, that particular day he was calmer than his usual self, as if he was thinking about something of much importance.
The whole atmosphere was rather tense and Jamal felt uncomfortable, but she understood him. Her ex-boyfriend tried to rape his sister, he had every right to be furious.
“Are we allowed to see Henry? I don’t know how procedures go in jail, but we’re not his relatives nor his
attorney, it must be very hard to get an approval, isn’t it?” Asked Adele and coldly nodded.
Adele didn’t know if he was saying; “Yes, they will be allowed” or “Yes, it’s hard to be allowed”, but she chose to stay quiet.
He didn’t seem to be in a very good mood. The last thing she wanted was to have him snap at her.
Even the protection team’s activity was rather more careful than their usual, because usually only three cars follow them wherever we went, but that afternoon, on their way to the prison, there were ten of them instead.
Adele was a bit uncomfortable with the “overly” serious atmosphere around her.
“The protection team is larger today. Isn’t ten full cars too much?” She asked yet again.
Jamal casted her a nano second gaze of impatience before shifting his eyes again to focus on the road before replying.
“I don’t intervene in their job, Adele. If they think that more caution is needed then it is needed, you don’t need to think about these procedures.”
He explained and Adele nodded in understanding. She didn’t ask any more questions.
When they finally reached their destination, namely the prison, Jamal parked close to the exterior gate.
“You stay here in the car, I’ll be back in a minute.” He instructed Adele without giving any further explanation. He then opened his seat’s door and went out of the car leaving her alone inside.
Adele was feeling increasingly more uncomfortable with
every passing moment, especially when she noticed that when Jamal went outside the car, he specifically headed towards the leader of the protection team, Sean, to have a private chat.
Soon after he finished speaking with him, the leader of the protection team made lots of calls through his device, then the guards stood orderly all around the place, while a group of them surrounded their car.
They were all armed.
Jamal, who was standing a bit far from the car, kept looking at Adele carefully for long awkward moments before he finally walked towards her car seat door and opened it for her.
“Everything is good, we’ll go now.” He instructed and Adele sighed.
All Adele wanted was to meet Henry and talk with him, she did not expect such drama to happen even before the meeting itself.
She knew she was a reasonable person, if she saw any danger, she knew she would logically just run away. For that reason, she stubbornly remained in her seat.
“Jamal, if there’s something wrong going on, then you better tell me right now.”
Jamal sighed, then bowed and unfastened the seatbelt for her without uttering a single word.
While doing that, he brought his face so close to hers, then after unfastening the seatbelt he just remained in
that position, very close to Adele with his eyes looking straight into hers.
“My husband is indeed very handsome” Adele thought while her heart started beating stronger and my breaths
accelerated.
If there wasn’t so much tension in the air and over thirty men carefully observing them, she would have kissed the life out of him.
“Adele” He softly called her name.
She blinked after hearing his voice. She was ready to risk it all and give the guards a rated eighteen plus(18+) how to watch.
Jamal was still looking at her intensely.
“If there was anything wrong, do you think I would risk putting you in danger?”
Needless to say it, it took Adele a great time and a lot of
effort to understand what he was talking about and the moment she did, her suspicious heart felt at ease.
She calmly shook my head to express her trust in him.
“Let’s go.”
He finally stepped away giving her freedom from that
very uncomfortable position. Adele then stood up and followed him out of the car.
As they walked on, the guards shielded them closely and then when they finally were at the gate, they were
thoroughly inspected before they were allowed inside.
Usually, when Jamal visited such public places, there would always be people waiting to receive and guide him in order to make acquaintances with him, but that wasn’t the case in that institution.
They were inspected and treated ordinarily, and no one tried to block the way.
After a second consideration, Adele arrived at a conclusion:
Jamal must be keeping his visit to the jail discreet, otherwise, someone must have definitely jumped from
nowhere and ceased the chance of meeting him.
When they were finally seated inside the room in which
we were supposed to meet Henry, they were surrounded
by the jail security guards. While Adele was observing all
feeling uncomfortable, Jamal, who was standing right behind her chair suddenly leaned his head and whispered in her ear.
“Whatever you hear from him today, just wait for my explanation later, okay?” He asked in a whisper.
When Adele turned to look at him and ask what he
meant, the other door of the room was opened and
Henry, accompanied by two other guards walking side by side.
He was handcuffed and closely observed, as if he was
in jail for a murder case.
He was thinner than the last time Adele saw him, his hair
was cut so short and his eyes that were piercing holes into Jamal who was standing right behind her were very
different from his usual soft and calm ones.
In whichever way Adele looked at him he was just not
Henry.
He steadily walked to where Adele was sitting, then he
looked at her through the glass that separated them without saying a word, with no expression on his face.
While looking at him, Jamal carefully walked away from her seat. He leaned on the nearest wall, crossed his
hands over his chest and kept observing the whole situation like a hawk.
“You came?” Henry suddenly spoke, addressing Jamal and Adele. “Mr. King, this isn’t the kind of place to bring a woman.” The man even had the audacity to smile.
Jamal still did not say anything to him.
“I heard what you tried to do Shannelle.”
“Of course you did.” He replied with a smile and Adele looked at Jamal who was staring daggers at Henry. If they weren’t separated by a glass, Henry would have been bleeding in Jamal’s hands by then.
Adele turned to look at Henry again.
“I thought you and I at least still had respect when we separated but I was wrong. I am here to know why you did all this to yourself and to me, why would you be Danielle’s accomplice?”
“Revenge, Adele, revenge. You husband treated someone’s daughter like scum, like she did not matter and she wanted to make him pay!” He explained and Adele immediately knew he was talking about Danielle. “And for me.” he chuckles. “He humiliated me.”
“That still doesn’t give you any right to try to rape his sister! Seriously Henry, why would you stoop so low. Now look where your stupid revenge landed you.”
Henry ignored her and looked up at Jamal who was now smirking at him.
” Aren’t you quite obsessed with your wife? To the extent where you’ll bring here to a place like this. Why the hell did you bring her here?” Henry sneered.
He hated the fact that Adele was seeing him in that state.
Jamal stood up properly then stepped forward. He brought his face closer to the glass to look at Henry
right in the eyes.
” The reason I brought her here?” He asked icily. You still haven’t figured it out yet? I’ll give you a hint, go look at your reflection in the mirror and you’ll know why I brought my wife to see you.”
Even Adele understood what Jamal meant.
The reason he accepted to bring her along was for her to see Henry’s downfall. To destroy the beautiful picture she still had of her ex boyfriend. The only man she had loved besides Jamal was Henry. Jamal ruined him in every way and he wanted Adele to personally see that.
“You scumbag!” Henry shouted at the top of his lungs
while he stood up and banged his hands on the glass.
His movement was so violent that he flipped the chair
he was sitting on, and it fell hard on the ground with a
bang.
The loud noises made Adele reflexively jolt and scream in fear. Jamal immediately circled her with his arms as a
way to reassure her that she was safe.
When Henry saw that, he became even more enraged and banged the glass.
“You are nothing but a scumbag Jamal. I swear I’m going to ruin you once I’m out!”
The guards soon surrounded him and began dragging him out of the room
“He toyed with me , Adele! I wouldn’t have left you. It was all his fault! Don’t trust him!” He screamed at the top of his voice and Adele’s brain scattered in her head as she looked up at Jamal.
What did he mean by that?
