CHAPTER EIGHTY.
How do you tell when Jamal is excited about something?
Well, to be honest, that man hardly showed any change
of affections or any expression on his face, his eyes were
always cold and words, very little especially to other people. Evenso, Adele, being his wife for a respectable amount of time and knowing him for longer, could tell the difference in his mood by noticing the little changes in his attitude.
That night, while having another crazy fucking session, he had made her promise him that she was going to start wearing her wedding ring from the next day.
She woke up to find a very excited Jamal King, looking at her, although he was just coldly eying her while saying his typical morning greeting which was:
“Are you awake?”
Adele noticed that he was indeed enthusiastically
waiting for her to wake up mainly by noticing two things:
The first being that he was already wearing his tuxedo and all windows were wide open. On a normal day he’d just keep wearing his nightgown until it’s almost time to prepare to go to work, and he wouldn’t open the windows so as not to disturb her sleep, so clearly he was very eager for her to wake up.
Secondly and most importantly, he was not working on his laptop! His excitement was so ignited that he forgot about his holy work!
Adele realised how excited he was and decided to act a bit cheeky and take advantage of the situation, so once she walked out of the bathroom after washing up, she eyed him sneakily and posed a question.
“Jamal, did you see where I left my ring? I can’t
find it.”
“I put it on for you when you were asleep, Adele. So it’s either on your finger or in the sink in the bathroom. You had already promised to put it on to work today, so
don’t you dare try to act smart and sneak out of it.” He
replied coldly.
Hearing him say he personally and sneakily put the ring
for her while she was asleep made her overwhelmed with
emotions, as she thought of the possibility that he had truly been anticipating that day to finally come.
Still, she decided to carry on with acting indifferently.
She walked closer to him and asked another question.
“Aren’t you a bit too much excited for such a simple
matter? It’s just putting on a ring after all.”
Jamal simply ignored what she said and lifted her hand to check if she was wearing the ring. When he made
sure it was indeed still on her finger he gave her an
impatient look.
“Having fun with my nerves, aren’t you?”
Adele nodded vigorously. He just sighed and decided not to deal with her again and began walking out of the room, but halfway, he turned around to look at her again.
“I have an early meeting, hurry up, prepare yourself for work, I will be waiting for you at the dining. And just so you know, we will ride together today.” Then he left before Adele could protest.

On their way to work, while looking at Jamal who was calmly driving beside her, Adele kept thinking about how very hard it was to be married to such a cold husband, and that he was very fortunate to have found a good wife such as her who would support his stiff temper and unchanging facial expressions. If he had married a delicate girl with a soft heart, the poor girl would be so miserable and if he had married a cold woman then he would be treated only as a money source and would not be given any love or care.
She was indeed the best match for him because she neither had too much of emotions nor lacked too
many of them.
“You are very lucky to have me, Jamal,” she said out of nowhere. “Do you think any other girl would have considered your circumstances and refrained from announcing her marriage with the most outstanding man in the country for such a long time? Even at the time when I had so many grudges against you, I still chose to keep them private and never attacked you
publicly although i worked at the press where I could have spilled everything. I will be announcing my marriage status to my coworkers today, shouldn’t you be more considerate and show how much you appreciate a great woman like me?” She asked, pouting her lips and Jamal chuckled lightly, totally amused.
She was right anyway, no other girl would have been able to keep such a secret.
“How then shall I show my appreciation, dear wife?” He asked with a chuckle.
“Well, you can take me for a vacation somewhere nice. What is the use of marrying a rich man if you constantly just work and never take me abroad?” She asked stubbornly and Jamal laughed harder.
“Alright then, I’ll see with the secretary about that.” He confirmed and Adele only smiled, but she could hardly contain the joy in her heart.
After he parked the car in his private parking lot, they both got out of the car and Adele was about to walk away when his voice sounded a command.
“Show me your left hand”
She looked at him impatiently and complied.
“Even if i don’t wear it to work today, Ward is still going
to ask me about what happened yesterday and our colleagues will naturally overhear. My marriage is no longer a secret, Jamal.”
After she finished saying those words, Jamal suddenly smiled.
“Should I accompany you and properly introduce myself as your husband?”
” Of course not! Are you crazy! We haven’t agreed on
this! Don’t you dare show up to my office!” She warned seriously and he laughed amusingly looking at her nervous state.
Adele simply turned around and walked over to the other elevator.
Once in it, she pressed her floor number and waited for the elevator to carry her up. When she arrived, the levator door opened to a commotion at the main
floor.
The main floor which was usually not very crowded since
all workers would head to their posts the moment they reached the company, which was unexpectedly full of people.
“Step out of there Adele! Quickly!” Nadia, the receptionist of their floor suddenly ordered her as she stepped out of the crowd and pulled Adele out of the
elevator.
“It can’t be her,” someone confusingly shouted.
And Nadia replied while dragging Adele to her original spot:
“Of course it’s not her!”
“What’s happening?” Adele asked Nadia in a confused state.
“We are waiting for the Mr. King’s wife to come out of
the elevator!” Nadia’s eyes sparkled as she replied.
“What?” Adel yelled, almost having a heart attack.
Nadia eyed her overly surprised face in surprise.
“As a part of the company, how can you not have heard the gossip, Adele? Why do I have to report to you all the
time?” She cried in frustration. “Fine, I will tell you. The thing is, many workers noticed that the big boss has been driving some anonymous woman ´after work for
Some time ago, we all thought it was just the secretary and he was driving her for convenience, but things are getting fishy and we have decided to give this matter a bit more consideration for such a long time! Then last time it was reported that his secretary took a leave but they still spotted that mysterious woman sitting in the front seat with the big boss! I can bet my life that he is married to a worker from this company and he’s driving her every day!
Ooh it’s so romantic! In the past, he never drove the car
personally but now he’s acting lovingly with his wife
under our watchful eyes!”
Adele almost had a heart attack hearing her words.
“Then, why haven’t you suspected me as his wife?” Adele teased and Nadia laughed while shaking her head.
“Don’t be silly!”
Adele was enraged by that answer.
She pouted and gave Nadia a displeased look.
“If all what you just said is true, then his wife would probably take the administrative elevator with the big boss and not this regular one, so there’s no point in you wasting time and waiting here.”
“We are here, just in case.”
“I’ll be heading to the office first then.” Adele told her and she nodded indifferently while already engaging in a
chat with a random coworker.
Adele eyed them all coldly.
She had walked right in front of their watchful eyes, but no one even suspected her to be the wife. Instead, they had yanked her from the elevator like she was a nobody.
The moment she walked into the office, Kelly yelled in surprise.
“Is that a wedding ring, Adele? Are you already married?”
“Yes, I’m married” She casually answered.
“This ring though, it seems very expensive, your husband must really dote on you.”
Adele nodded and looked around and when her eyes met with Ward’s, she quickly looked away and walked to her seat.
After congratulating her, no one really gave the matter
any further consideration nor they asked her the identity of her husband since their attention was all diverted
towards the hottest news in the company.
THE MYSTERIOUS WIFE.

By lunch time, another major event happened in the company. The big boss, namely Adele’s husband,
shockingly decided to pay a visit to the publishing department which was the department where she worked
She had not been informed by her husband, so the shock expression displayed on her face was genuine when the main office secretary, namely Christine, came to personally inform our humble department that the big boss was going to visit us within minutes!
Everyone around her started to panic as they all hurried
back to their desks to organize them properly and to fix
their looks. She did the same too and her heart was beating so fast, but unlike the others she wasn’t nervous
because of the big boss, she was nervous about what he was going to do.
Soon enough, a dozen of bodyguards walked inside our
office and positioned all around the place before he walked in.
She was married to him and interacted with on a daily basis. They sometimes had the silliest arguments and Adele had forgotten that the person she was married to was extraordinary in the eyes of others.
Jamal King was very handsome. She often forgot to notice the fact that her husband was truly, very handsome.
Everything about him was very alluring: his face, his
gaze and manners, his height, his body.
Those were things she saw on a daily basis, but having him in her office at that moment, made her heart miss a few beats. It was like she had fallen in love with him all over again.
And then at that precise moment, Jamal, who was
having a chat with their superior, Grace, suddenly turned to look at me and didn’t look away for a long time.
“Miss Mackenzie must be very surprised to see you, Mr
King.” She commented after noticing his gaze on me.
Jamal, being the unpredictable person that he was, gave Grace a very serious look and then said:
“She is a married woman.”
Adele’s heart dropped into her abdomen and everyone looked at her in awe, probably wondering how the boss knew about her marital status.
She turned to look at Jamal again, begging him with her
eyes not to cause anymore inconvenience and he did the worse by smiling at her.
Adele knew her life in that office would never be the same again.
