Chapter 97
Catherina decided to spend her off from work with her mother Morgan who also seems to be at home. “Mother, do you know that Brandon had a fiance?” Morgan Gill’s attention was caught by her daughter’s words.
She was doing something before when her daughter uttered such words and she was forced to leave whatever she was doing and take a look at her daughter. Which girlfriend of Brandon is she talking about right now? “I do know that he had a girlfriend but I don’t like her!” There’s one day he brought this impoverished girl to me, telling me that she was his girlfriend!
Catherina was confused and curious to know the person her mother could be talking about but anyway, that isn’t his problem! The main thing right now was that he needed to tell his mother about Zelda, which she thinks it’s the right person for her brother.
“There’s this lady that I came across some days ago! She was just so brave and Gosh, I didn’t even realize that she was Brandon’s girlfriend until she followed me to the compound and that was when Brandon saw her!”
Morgan couldn’t help but pondered exactly the days all those things happened. She had been home for some days now so it’s really she wouldn’t be lying to say that Brandon Actually came home with a lady this week.
“But I was at home during that time! I didn’t get to see her?”
“It was during the time I came to pick Daisy up! The lady was waiting outside for me because I’ve decided to give her a ride back then only for me to come outside and saw Brandon holding her”.
Now Morgan is getting everything. Judging by her statement, it seems like the lady know them which was the reason why she had chosen to stay inside instead of coming inside the house with them because if indeed she was a stranger who doesn’t know them but had only heard about them, she will find everything as an opportunity and Later walk inside with her but except the one that knows her and Afraid of seeing her.
“Is her name Zelda?” Morgan doesn’t need to guess anymore! She just needs to assume before wasting her time on something that isn’t worth it.
“Yes! I can remember the girl telling me that her name was Zelda! But is there anything wrong?
Catherina couldn’t help but wonder the changes of countenance on her mother face immediately she mentioned the name called “Zelda”
” This Boy can’t kill me! I have told him to stop going around that impoverished girl! Do you know what will happen when my business partners finally learn of that?
Catherina does understand where her mother was coming from but that doesn’t mean anything. What matters is that Brandon does find someone that he loves and not only that but someone that loves him as well and not Harley who she had preferred for him.
“Brandon needs to understand how this business works. Since your father had long death, he’s the only Heir to the Gill family because he’s a man and for someone like Him to rule such companies, he needs an intelligent woman, someone that graduate from the university with degree not someone like Zelda who doesn’t even finish junior school neither does she knows how business work.” He needs a supportive wife that can stand in absence of him in the future and not someone like Zelda who knows nothing! Can you even imagine what everybody will say when they learnt that the only Gill son is friends with a lunatic lady? Do you know the reputation it could be”.
Catherina was silent for a while. Thinking of how to challenge her mother and how to make her understand that, that isn’t how things work now. She needs to understand that what Matters most in a relationship is love and not what each other has.
“I absolutely get where you’re coming from mother but that isn’t how things are done! Everybody loves to do their things and not to impress people! People will always judge you based on what they see but that doesn’t matter. The most important thing in the relationship is that Brandon likes Zelda that’s all and Zelda seems like a good smart lady!
“I’m sure she will fit your personality! If only you saw her as a human being and not as a goat!” And by her gaze, she could tell that she wasn’t convinced with what she was saying.
“You’re still a child my dear! You will understand everything very soon as time goes on! At this age nothing will seem right for you but I have to do what needs to be done to protect the reputation of the Gill family.
“Mother, I do hope you won’t stop him from getting what he wants this time around! Because of you, him and the lady aren’t even on good terms. I do hope you will become a good mother to him. Not the bad one that will stop him from doing what he needs to do or what he wants to achieve; he’s getting old as days pass by and he needs a woman by his side! If you stop him this time around then it will take some time for him before he will adjust and have to move on”. Catherina continued what she was doing while her mother turned her gaze towards her things still thinking about the conversation she just had with her daughter but that can’t change her mind.. she knew that everything she’s doing right now is for the good of her son and nothing more. So no one can advise her on what to do at this stage. She knows that she’s doing what’s Right and doesn’t need one’s consent or opinions on it. She’s probably doing the right thing for her son.

Morgan needs to take things into her hands by threatening Zelda thereby tracing her to her house which she successfully did through the help of Brandon driver. She did bribe the driver before he was able to disclose her whereabouts to her and right now Morgan was on her way to Zelda house right now. Not quite long she got there even though the environment where they stayed disgusted her. She couldn’t believe that someone would be living in this area. She couldn’t be mistaken. After all, her thoughts were right.
She asks some of the neighbors where the Zelda door was located which they show her.
And damn it, the person that came to open the door for her was a woman who could be Zelda’s mother if she wasn’t mistaken. “How can I help you ma’am? Annie absolutely has no idea that the woman staring at her right now was none other than Brandon’s mother. The popular business woman who was the talk of the town.
“I think that’s a good question! You can help me by scolding your daughter and warning her to stay away from my son”. Annie was confused by her words. She doesn’t really know who this woman was and what she was talking about at the moment.
“Can you be more specific with your statement please? Or maybe we can talk this out inside! Please come inside”. Even though Annie doesn’t know who she was, she decided to offer her a chair to sit down in the house even though she looks like someone that doesn’t have proper manners.
And of course Morgan couldn’t reject her offer of giving her a chair. She really needs to sit down and explain the things well to them and just as Zelda had heard the two women talking from where she was seated, she approached them and her expression was not known on seeing Brandon Mother. She was shocked at what the hell she was doing here.
“What can I offer you ma’am?” Annie questions her, after giving her a seat to sit down on. And of course Morgan’s expression was giving Zelda a shiver as their eyes met with each other.
“Don’t worry dear, I don’t think you will be able to offer it forever if I tell you I want some luxurious drinks but you can skip that part okay?” Zelda feels so insulted with her words although she has no idea of her visit here. Could it be that she was here to scold her? That was the only thought she had and could only sit to watch what would happen.
“Good morning ma’am! Please why are you here? I thought you warned me against your son! So tell me why you’re here or do you think that I’m still dating your son?” Zelda Shrugged at her, very angry with her manners of speech and felt like slapping her for talking to her mother like that.
“That’s it! It’s a good question but recently, I found out that you’re still meeting my son secretly”.
“Who’s this mad woman Zelda?” Annie asks, curious to know who that woman was.
