Chapter 81

“Sit.” he said to her as he walked away to the center of the room.
Claire’s eyes swept round the room for where exactly he wanted her to sit. There was the big object of attraction, the bed which she had given up her precious flower to him and the seat actually far away from where she stood. Well, technically not far as they were within the same space but far as she needed to get through him if she was ever actually going to make it to the other side of the room. To make things worse for her although she could not tell if he was doing it out of purpose or simply going about his business before she interrupted, Tristan drew the towel away from his waist without shame and flung it on the chair in the room. Alright, she got the message he was trying hard to pass onto her. It was definitely the bed for her if she was ever going to sit her ass down. Claire with her super reflex turned her face away as she could not stare at the naked man before her. He was just so much right now without considering her feelings whatsoever.
One could begin to wonder why she was acting that way to a man she had spent a whole night together with or rather based on their lovemaking timing, dawn to the brightness of day. However, it still felt rather awkward to her that he was so free about getting naked with her. She knew within herself that should she be the one, she could not get into her towels before him let alone strip. She was so lost in her thoughts as she was still shocked that she had not heard him approach her stealthy. It was the feel of someone nearing her that got her skipping and then the shadow over her. Slowly Claire started to look at him and realized he was still naked. She kept screaming at herself not to look down and meet with his junk. It was hard focusing really but then he caught her by the chin and stared down into her eyes like he was inspecting her for an auction. Claire tried hard not to blink least it be heard that he stared her down in an eyeing contest and won eventually. She could not hold out as she did blink not once but twice. The scent of him and nearness was something she could not handle at all as it got her feeling a little choked up. It was melting her a great deal and she did not know how much longer she could hold it out with him being so close with him.
“You got the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen.” he said still staring into her eyes in the inspection like manner. He seemed lost in a dream.
“Th-thanks.” Claire realized she was stuttering. She could not hold herself before him and truth be told, that was actually frustrating for her.
Tristan smiled at her and then bent his face over her face that a drop of water from his hair landed on her forehead directly. It would seem like she had just been water anointed by him. He saw it and smiled as he rubbed her forehead with the water before smiling. He drew closer and Claire did not know but she braced herself for the kiss that was impeding. He drew even closer and she closed her eyes and looked up at him even more waiting for the kiss to come but it never did. Slowly she opened her eyes and he smiled as his lips was just inches from hers. He suddenly tapped her on the bridge of her nose and stood straight.
Claire might not have noticed but she had frowned a little. Even though she tried her best to keep it hidden, it was all the more very visible. He took her by the hand to his bed and made her sit down before bending over closely to view her. Claire was still confused.
“Not happening. Not until you explain why you stood me up yesterday.” he said to her
“Stood you up?” she asked him blinking her eyes at him.
Tristan certainly was not going to give the lady any chance at lying to him. He smiled widely at her and then stretched out his hands to her. Claire stared at it for a while and then back at him certainly confused about what he wanted from her. She waited and then thought that possibly he wanted her hand in his and slowly raised her hand and put it over his own. Tristan shook it off and positioned his hand for her yet again obviously still asking for whatever. Claire still embarrassed over her hasty mistake asked him slowly what it was he wanted.
“Your phone.” he said to her and she panicked.
She most certainly could now understand what he was referring to all this while. It was that text from the previous day which she could not make anything out of. Now she regretted why she had let her pride keep her from showing it to Jake. But then, Jake would have hated her if he had noticed anything out of the usual employer and employee relationship through the text. Hell, he would be broken and would probably turn her out of his life. It was something she could not risk which was why she chose not to let him know about it. She decided to face Tristan instead.
“Is this about the text you sent yesterday?” she asked him slowly nearing panic.
Tristan pushed away from her angrily and looking really funny as he was naked. He turned away from her as he felt betrayed by those words.
“So you saw the text?” he asked her now turning to look at her directly. Claire felt really shy especially with his member jutting out before him as he spoke. Speak about first degree awkwardness and that was this moment for her.
“Look at me when I’m talking to you Claire.”
His sudden increase in tone shook her up. She had certainly not expected that change so quick and did not feel comfortable about it either. It was really awkward a moment to be found in. But recall, Claire was a fighter. She would very much put an end to a friendship if she began to feel any bit treated less as she was beginning to feel right now.
“Why are you yelling at me?” she asked Tristan.
Oh, this caught him by surprise. His cub had finally grown teeth and was ready to bite him first. He felt his pride ridiculed and blamed it on the fact he had asked her out. She now felt so worthy that she could speak to him anyway she seemed fit. That was outrageous. He knew her kind of woman and he was still not willing to pass the reins of leadership to her. He would fight for his stand if need be and put her in her place so she recalls that it was never about her or her feeling. It had been all about him from the very start of time.
“I’m not telling.” he said to her
“Yes you were.” she shot back standing up now from the bed.
Now this was beginning to interest him as he craved to see just how much teeth she had grown in the short while.
“Then why didn’t you respond my text or honour the invitation?” he asked her
“What invitation?” she asked
“Are you blind woman? The one on the text.” he was going to admit to yelling this time as he was frustrated. He pointed even at the phone in her hand which she had refused to give him initially.
For a moment, she stood there perplexed as she stared at him. Claire could not tell if this was the right time for it but things were actually beginning to get pretty much heated between them both and was feeling a lot awkward. The moment had come right now and she was finding a hard time choosing over being called blind or being called dumb. The former sounded more like an insult to her and come to think about it, she had grown quite accustomed to being called dumb. There was Jake also showing his willingness to accept her regardless of her condition and had shown her so much care even though she did not feel as much as she did for him as with Tristan. She was not confused but she just could not keep up with pretending. Pretty much everyone in her life already knew about her condition and it would be a matter of time before it gets out to the world how dumb she really was. Claire realized she had been pacing all along and halted. She turned and faced him with sadness in her eyes.
“You want to know why?” she asked him
“Out with it.” he said to her
“Alright. There you have it. I’m not blind. I’ve never been blind. I’m dyslexic okay? Not blind. I may seem dumb because I cannot read but I am not blind!!!” she yelled and instantly she made to walk away for good.
